Abstract

The issue of plastic waste is increasingly becoming an environmental concern, including in elementary schools, due to its non-biodegradable nature and its potential to cause environmental pollution if not properly managed. This activity aims to implement the Ecobrick method as an innovative solution for managing and utilizing plastic waste at SDN 054945 Desa Dogang, Gebang District, Langkat Regency. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach involving 65 students from grades IV and V through a community service activity. The activity was carried out on July 17, 2024, through preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages, with data collection techniques including observation, documentation, and reflective discussion. The results show that the application of the Ecobrick method successfully increased students' understanding and awareness of the dangers of plastic waste and fostered an early environmental concern. Moreover, previously worthless plastic waste was processed into functional Ecobrick benches that can be utilized within the school environment. This activity also encouraged a sense of mutual cooperation, responsibility, and creativity among the students. Thus, the Ecobrick method has proven to be an effective alternative for plastic waste management and a contextual learning medium in creating an environmentally friendly school culture.

Abstract

Kemuning Lor Village in Jember Regency has considerable potential in the agricultural and livestock sectors; however, the utilization of waste from these sectors, including domestic waste, has not yet been optimized. Waste materials such as rice straw, livestock manure, and household waste are generally not properly managed, potentially causing environmental pollution while also missing opportunities for added economic value. This community service activity aims to improve the capacity of farmers and livestock breeders in processing waste into more valuable products through a sustainable agriculture approach. The methods applied include participatory training, technical demonstrations, direct field practice, and intensive assistance for members of the Makmur Farmers Group Association (GAPOKTAN). The products generated from this activity include fermented feed made from rice straw, solid organic fertilizer (SOF), liquid organic fertilizer (LOF), and botanical pesticides. The results of the program indicate an increase in participants’ knowledge and skills, with 92% of them being able to apply the techniques that had been taught. The utilization of fermented straw was proven to increase feed protein content while improving storage efficiency, whereas the processing of domestic and livestock waste reduced environmental pollution and production costs. Overall, this program contributes to promoting the implementation of the circular economy concept and sustainable agricultural systems, while also having the potential to improve the welfare of rural communities.

Abstract

This community service activity is motivated by the importance of Strengthening digital communication capacity within environmental communities to support the sustainability of community-based environmental conservation movements. The MAT PECI Community (Indonesian Community for Ciliwung Care) as an active partner in conservation and education along the Ciliwung River still faces limitations in managing digital organizational communication, particularly in documentation, publication, and social media optimization aspects. This activity aims to enhance the capacity of community members in utilizing digital media as a means of communication, education, and environmental advocacy. The method used is Participatory Action Research with a participatory approach that involves the community actively from problem identification, planning, implementation, to evaluation. The program includes digital communication training, mentoring in social media content creation, basic photography and videography training, and the development of community digital publication strategies. The results show an increase in members’ understanding and skills in using social media, behavioral changes toward more structured documentation, greater awareness of the importance of digital communication, and the formation of a more directed organizational communication system. The findings indicate that strengthening community-based digital communication is effective in social empowerment and supports the sustainability of environmental conservation movements.

Abstract

This community service program aims to implement digital marketing management strategies to optimize community based digital businesses among young generations in Jayapura City. The rapid development of digital technology has created significant opportunities for youth to develop digital businesses. however, limitations in marketing knowledge, content creation skills, and the use of digital platforms remain major challenges. This program was conducted through training, mentoring, and practical workshops focusing on digital marketing management, including market segmentation, branding strategy, social media marketing, content planning, digital advertising, and evaluation using digital analytics. The participants consisted of young entrepreneurs and youth communities who are actively involved in small scale digital business activities. The results of the program indicate an improvement in participant’s understanding and skills in managing digital marketing strategies, particularly in building brand identity, optimizing social media engagement, and designing digital promotional content. In addition, participants were able to develop structured digital marketing plans and apply them to their business activities. This program contributes to strengthening youth capacity in Jayapura City to compete in the digital economy through sustainable community based business development.

Abstract

The rising cost of inorganic fertilizers and their uneven accessibility have encouraged farmers to use nutrient inputs that are locally available, affordable, and safer for the environment. This community service activity was designed to improve farmers' understanding and practical capacity in producing and applying organic fertilizer and eco-enzyme from local organic materials in Tangsi Duren Village, Kabawetan District, Kepahiang Regency. The program applied a participatory approach involving farmer groups, lecturers, and students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Bengkulu. The activity stages included preliminary observation, coordination with community partners, extension, demonstration, learning by doing, discussion, and evaluation. Conducted on 3 October 2025, the program introduced rice-washing water, fruit peels, vegetable residues, and healthy weeds or wild leaves as raw materials for organic fertilizer and eco-enzyme. The results indicated strong participant enthusiasm, broader awareness of organic farming, and increased willingness to engage in sustainable agriculture development. All participants expressed readiness to support organic farming, although some were still uncertain about its contribution to reducing production costs and improving market access for organic products. Follow-up facilitation with a local environmental care group was initiated to strengthen mentoring and marketing support. This activity confirms that hands-on training based on local resources can serve as an entry point for reducing dependence on chemical inputs and strengthening farmer-based sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

Posyandu activities require organized administration and accurate documentation, including participant data, monthly reports, and simple financial records. However, many Posyandu administrators still face difficulties in using computers, which results in manual documentation and inefficient reporting. This community service program aimed to improve participants’ basic computer skills and their ability to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel to support Posyandu administration and simple accounting-based financial recording. The training was conducted on May 8, 2026 at the Ciketingudik Village Hall, involving Posyandu chairwomen from several Delima areas and the PKK/PKP leader. The methods applied included lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and direct mentoring. The training covered file and folder management, document preparation using Microsoft Word, and data recapitulation using Microsoft Excel with basic formulas such as SUM and COUNT. The results show that participants were able to create organized digital folders, prepare official invitation letters, build structured data tables, and compile simple cash recapitulation reports. This program contributes to improving transparency, accountability, and professionalism in Posyandu administration.

Abstract

The development of social media in the digital era has influenced the lives of teenagers, including communication patterns and social behavior. However, the use of social media without an understanding of ethics can lead to various problems such as the spread of hoaxes, cyberbullying, hate speech, and behavior that is inconsistent with moral values ​​and Islamic teachings. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to instill an understanding of social media ethics among Muslim teenagers through the Pondok Ramadhan activity at SMAN 20 Surabaya. The method used is the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which includes the stages of discovery, dream, design, define, and destiny. The activity was carried out for four days and involved students of SMAN 20 Surabaya, teachers, and a team of Master of Islamic Education students from Sunan Giri University Surabaya. The material was delivered through an active learning method in the form of material delivery, interactive discussions, case studies, reflections, and questions and answers related to social media ethics from an Islamic perspective. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding and awareness of the importance of maintaining digital ethics, verifying information before sharing it, avoiding hate speech, and utilizing social media for positive activities. Thus, PkM activities through Pondok Ramadhan are considered effective in strengthening the moral values ​​and digital literacy of Muslim youth in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

High open unemployment rates and limited graphic design skills among job seekers in Rancah District, Ciamis Regency, present significant challenges for regional workforce development. This community service activity (PKM) aims to enhance technical graphic design skills using CorelDraw and foster an entrepreneurial spirit among job seekers through the production of keychains and brooches at LKP/LPK Java Comp. The implementation methodology utilized the Learning Journey Canvas framework, comprising systematic stages: administration, program planning, implementation (lectures, design practice, and product printing/sublimation), and evaluation (pre-test, post-test, and product assessment). The training was attended by 20 job seekers. The evaluation results demonstrated a substantial increase in participants' competency, with 100% of participants successfully designing, printing, and assembling their own personalized promotional products, including ID cards, name cards, keychains, pins, and custom merchandise. This program successfully bridged the vocational skill gap and provided practical provisions for participants to enter the job market or initiate micro-enterprises.

Abstract

Sanrobone Village, Takalar, has great potential in the home-based processed food industry sector, but many business actors still do not have complete legality such as NIB, SPP-IRT, and halal certificates. This community service activity aimed to enhance business actors' knowledge and skills in managing legality and to assist the licensing process. The method employed was a one-day intensive training (8 hours) with an educative-participatory approach, conducted on May 5, 2026, at Sanrobone Village Hall with 24 participants. Results showed an increase in average knowledge scores from 28.33 to 80.83 (N-Gain=0.73, high category; p-value=0.000). Legality achievements: NIB 87.5% (21 participants), SPP-IRT 79.2% (19 participants), halal certification 83.3% (20 participants), and product labeling 91.7% (22 participants). Participant satisfaction was very high (4.52 out of 5; 91.7% scored ≥4). All 7 success indicators were achieved (100%). One-day intensive assistance is effective in enhancing understanding and ownership of business legality for processed food MSME actors, although continuous mentoring remains necessary to complete the licensing verification process.

Abstract

Active mobility during the first stage of labor is a recommended non-pharmacological intervention to support physiological childbirth; however, many pregnant women have limited knowledge and skills regarding its implementation. This community service program aimed to improve pregnant women's knowledge and practical skills through education and demonstration of active mobility during the first stage of labor in Danau Usung Village, the working area of Puruk Cahu Seberang Primary Health Center, Murung Raya Regency, Indonesia. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach with a community empowerment strategy. Participants consisted of 30 third-trimester pregnant women accompanied by their husbands or family members. Activities included stakeholder coordination, pre-test assessment, health education, demonstration of active mobility techniques, supervised practice, interactive discussion, and post-test evaluation. The results demonstrated a substantial improvement in participants' knowledge, with the proportion of good knowledge increasing from 13.3% to 83.3%, while poor knowledge decreased from 50.0% to 0%. Practical skills also improved markedly, with good skills increasing from 10.0% to 80.0%, and no participants remaining in the poor category. Mean knowledge scores increased from 62.4 ± 10.8 to 89.2 ± 6.3, while mean skill scores improved from 57.1 ± 9.8 to 87.4 ± 6.9. The combination of education and hands-on demonstration effectively enhanced pregnant women's readiness to apply active mobility techniques in supporting physiological childbirth. This program is recommended for integration into routine antenatal education classes at primary healthcare centers.
