Abstract

The Effect of Interactive Model with Multimedia towards Motivation and Chemistry Learning Outcomes. The study aimed to know the influence of interactive learning model with multimedia on student learning outcomes and motivations. This research was a quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The populations were all of class X in SMAN 1 Kuripan at 2016/2016 academic years. Two classes (XF and XB) were selected as the sample by purposive sampling technique. Motivation questionnaire was used to measure the student learning motivation, and multiple choice tests was used to measure student learning outcomes. A t-test was applied to analyze the motivation data. The result showed that t stat (0,13) < ttable (1,68), mean that the interactive learning model with multimedia does not enchanced student’s learning motivation. In contrast, the learning outcomes data showed that t stat (3,99) > ttable (1,68), it is revealed that interactive learning model with multimedia is better than conventional models to student learning outcomes. Keywords: interactive learning, multimedia, learning motivations, learning outcomes, oxidation and reduction reaction DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v6.i2.201601

Abstract

Development and Utilization of Online Teacher Professional Development on Private E-Tutors’ TPACK Skills. Objective: The study aimed to design, implement, and evaluate an online teacher professional development training program and develop the TPACK skills of private e-tutors as evidenced by their lesson design and teaching demonstration performance. Methods:  A mixed method in data gathering such as TPACK survey, pre-post-performance, and feedbacking was utilized. The input-process-output method with the PRIME framework in the process stage was used. The training program design was evaluated by experts anchored with the frameworks and theories with the synchronous form of learning for 20 contact hours. Findings: Findings revealed a significant mean gain between  the pre-post-performance of the teachers’ lesson design and teaching demonstration. Conclusion: The online teacher professional development training program developed and enhanced the teachers’ TPACK skills. The study proposed guidelines for conducting oTPD training programs and compilation of lesson designs based on the TPACK framework. Keywords: e-tutors, online teaching , professional development, TPACK.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202345

Abstract

Objectives: This study primarily aimed at developing a model that will predict whether a student will graduate on time based on their academic performance in their respective core introductory computing courses. Methods: The educational data mining process was employed in the conduct of this research. The process commenced with the collection of educational data and culminated with the evaluation of the developed model. This research utilized the decision tree algorithm. Findings: The model evaluation resulted to an 88.9% classification accuracy where the total number of actual “Yes” (students who graduated on-time) is 52.49 were classified correctly and 3 were misclassified as “No” in the prediction and the total number of actual “No” (students who did not graduated on-time) is 20.15 of which were classified correctly and 5 were misclassified in the prediction. Conclusion: Results of the study can be used as inputs in the crafting of new resource materials and an improved curriculum that will help improve the performance of students in the database management course. The model can also be used as a tool to help students graduate on-time.Keywords: decision tree, prediction, on-time graduation.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v11.i3.202116

Abstract

A Qualitative Study on Curriculum Supervision and Learning Modalities in the Time of Pandemic: Basis on the Proposed Innovative Supervisory Framework. This study examines the challenges posed by the pandemic to instructional leaders and their ability to supervise teachers, focusing on the university context. Using a phenomenological approach, 6 instructional leaders were interviewed through a face-to-face questionnaire to uncover the supervision models, processes of supervising teachers, different learning modalities, and supervisory framework. The results revealed that the synchronous class was most effective among the three modalities used: synchronous, asynchronous, and modular. Furthermore, a differentiated supervision model was constructed based on the practices of instructional leaders, and a framework was proposed for use in other schools. The implications of this research are that instructional leaders should be aware of the various supervision models, processes, and learning modalities available in order to effectively respond to and cope with the crisis. Additionally, other schools can employ alternative supervision models by investigating the characteristics that affect supervision. Keywords: leadership, curriculum supervision, new normal education, pandemic.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202313

Abstract

YouTube as a Web-Based Instructional Tool in Higher Education in Technology Enabled Learning (TEL) during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Objectives: YouTube became an alternative to face-to-face teaching during COVID-19, although its use among Bachelor of Science in Criminology students is sparse. This study evaluated YouTube as an instructional tool for Technology-Enabled Learning (TEL). Methods: This survey randomly sampled 281 BS Criminology students. Frequency, mean, percentage, and ANOVA were used in analyzing the data. Findings: Results disclosed that the students utilized YouTube. However, females have a longer time of Youtube usage than males to search for information for academic studies and enrich their general knowledge. Demographics have no influence on the acceptability of YouTube for TEL.  Higher acceptability of YouTube for TEL was seen among students who used it frequently and for an extended length of time. Conclusion: Using YouTube as a web-based instructional tool could improve students’ sociability, grades, motivation to learn, and curriculum delivery when utilized in TEL. Keywords: youtube, acceptability, technology-enabled learning, online learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i3.202210
