Abdi Humaniora: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Bidang Humaniora adalah jurnal yang memuat implementasi hasil penelitian dalam bentuk kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang mencakup kajian pengembangan dan penerapan IPTEKS dalam bidang humaniora. Fokus dan Skop jurnal mencakup hasil penelitian dan implementasi pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang mencakup konsep, model dan implementasinya sebagai upaya peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat dalam pembangunan. Abdi Humaniora akan menerbitkan Artikel terpilih dalam hasil penelitian dan sosialisasi dan implementasi pengembangan IPTEKS di bidang humaniora, pendidikan, pengajaran.

Abstract

Tourism is an important sector in the economy of Jatiluwih Village, and visits by Japanese tourists have become a potential market that has been increasing in recent years. However, to improve the quality of service for Japanese tourists which indirectly can expand market share, tourism actors need to have adequate knowledge of the culture, customs and habits of Japanese people as well as the ability to communicate using basic Japanese, with the aim of providing the best service. Post-pandemic, the world of tourism has revived. To revive work enthusiasm and service attitude to Japanese tourists, the role of the university is needed to help provide knowledge and skills to tourism actors when communicating with tourists of different cultures, therefore misunderstandings can be avoided in communication. One of the efforts to increase the knowledge and skills of tourism actors in Jatiluwih Village, required hospitality and Japanese culture training. This training involved experts who have experience in the tourism industry and expertise in Japanese culture. Through this training, it was hoped that tourism actors will gain in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture, including language, customs, and the ethics of interacting with Japanese tourists. They were also trained in hospitality skills which include communication, hospitality, service skills, and understanding of Japanese guest preferences.

Abstract

The existence of Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis)  will give benefit to the the district government and the participating communities will also be helped because there are open business opportunities that can improve the family economy. So that this business opportunity can be optimized it is necessary to provide guidance and provision of soft skills and life skills for Pokdarwis. But the problem is that Pokdarwis has not been managed to its full potential, it can be seen from the still weak supporting skills needed by Pokdarwis in carrying out its roles and functions. One of the important and urgent skills to be trained in is English tourism skills and web management skills for tourism promotion. Solutions offered to increase productivity and involvement of the local community to manage the tourism industry are through improving English language skills for Pokdarwis through English ESP training for tourism and training in making and managing tourism promotion web. The partner chosen for this activity was Pokdarwis Mandeh Bahari Area, Koto XI Tarusan District, South Pesisir Regency.

Abstract

The educational scholarship offers are increasing to Al-Qur’an memorizers. It arouses their interest in learning English to have an added value in competing at national and international levels. However, the access to English learning is not widely open for the students of Rumah Tahfidz Syafa'at Qur'an since most of them are coming from low economic families. They can only rely on learning at school for a very limited time, while language exposure must be maximized from an early age for foreign language mastery. Therefore, the community service team tried to build basic English language competencies to increase their literacy through structured English learning taught through conversation and storytelling. The students were specified to those who are in 4th to 6th grade of Elementary School. Character-based learning was implemented here by integrating material with character education to build good characters in the students. It was also as a response to the issue of moral degradation which belongs to the government's focus in education. This program was carried out for 14 face-to-face meetings. The assessments included 1 Initial Knowledge Test (IKT), 2 monthly assessment, and 1 final assessment. As a result of the final assessment, they were able to introduce and describe themselves both in written and spoken form. In addition, observations were also carried out to see the achievements of the integration of character education. The results showed an increase in the 4C aspects which include communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.

Abstract

Gerakan literasi dasar baca tulis bertujuan untuk menghasilkan lingkungan atau ekosistem atau masyarakat yang sadar dan kaya akan literasi. Masyarakat yang dimaksudkan ini adalah masyarakat yang aktif, dinamis, dan menghidupkan aktivitas literasi. Masyarakat yang dimaksudkan terutama adalah masyarakat secara menyeluruh yang dimulai dari lingkungan keluarga, lingkungan lembaga pendidikan formal, serta masyarakat umum mulai dari perkotaan hingga ke wilayah terjauh.Berbagai upaya dapat dilakukan untuk terus mengembangkan Gerakan Literasi Nasional (GLN), salah satunya adalah dengan memberikan pelatihan berupa penguatan kapasitas fasilitator.Berdasarkan kenyataan tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini  difokuskan pada pelatihan  penguatan kapasitas fasilitator gerakan literasi dasar baca tulis bagi guru-guru Sekolah Menengah Pertama Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di Kabupaten Tanah Datar Provinsi Sumatra Barat. Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini akan difokuskan pada penguatan guru-guru tersebut sebagai fasilitator Gerakan Literasi Nasional di lingkungan tempat mereka bertugas sehingga mereka memiliki pengetahuan, wawasan, dan keterampilan sebagai fasilitator yang kaya untuk melaksanakan strategi gerakan baca tulis di sekolah. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah (presentasi), diskusi/tanya jawab, pemberian tugas, dan pendampingan. Hasil yang dicapai setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan dan setelah mengamati latihan yang diberikan, dapat terlihat bahwa para peserta dapat memperoleh pengetahuan literasi dan mampu mengembangkan pembelajaran yang terintegrasi dengan kegiatan literasi serta menjadi fasilitator kegiatan literasi di sekolah.

Abstract

Online learning has been implemented widely at school, including in language learning. But, there are still many language teachers who encounter difficulties in doing online learning evaluations. To improve the language teachers' ability to do the learning evaluation with online media, we conducted training for the teachers about online learning evaluation media. Training participants were a group of Senior High School and Vocational high school teachers in Padang. The training was carried out with the stages of introducing the types of online learning evaluation media, tutorials on how to use some applications for online learning evaluation, and teachers simulating the online learning evaluation they had designed. The training result showed the improvement in teachers' ability to do learning evaluations with online media. The post-test results were two times higher than the pre-test results. Both tests' results showed a significant difference between before and after training.

Abstract

Siswa SMA merupakan generasi muda yang sangat berpotensi serta berkesempatan berperan aktif untuk kemajuan nusa dan bangsa. Untuk menunjang kemampuan dalam bersaing di era kini, siswa SMA dituntut untuk memiliki rasa percaya diri, mampu berkomunikasi secara santun, bersikap sopan sebagai bagian dari public speaking. Apabila  tidak memiliki kemampuan dalam berkomunikasi dihadapan umum secara tepat karena kurangnya rasa percaya diri, maka interaksi tidak dapat berjalan dengan lancar. Oleh karena itu, untuk memberikan pemahaman serta wawasan bagi siswa SMA, kegiatan pengabdian yang dilaksanakan melalui adanya pelatihan public speaking.  Kegiatan ini dilakukan oleh dosen berkolaborasi dengan badan eksekutif mahasiswa sebagai satu bentuk nyata implementasi dari Tri darma perguruan tinggi. Kegiatan pelatihan bagi generasi muda khusunya di SMAN1 Kintamani bertujuan untuk memberikan pengalaman dalam berkomunikasi untuk menunjang interaksi. Meskipun dilakukan secara daring menggunakan aplikasi Zoom Meeting mengingat kondisi pandemi seperti saat ini, antusias peserta sangat tinggi berbagai pertanyaan telah dilontarkan saat diskusi sehingga kegiatan ini dapat memberikan pelatihan pengembangan public speaking presentation skill.

Abstract

The priority problem consists of two aspects, namely: (1) the aspect of mastering the concept of imaginative painting techniques. (2) The aspect of applying imaginative painting techniques. The methods for solving the problem are: (1) model design, (2) counseling and discussion, (3) training. The end of the activity is expected to produce: (1) scientific publications in accredited national journals, (2) activity videos, and (3) publications in print/online media, (4) increased understanding of the concept of imaginative painting, and (5) increased imaginative painting skills. After the activity is completed, it has produced: (1) scientific articles published in accredited national journals, (2) activity videos published on YouTube, and (3) news articles published in print/online media, (4) increased understanding of the concept of at least 70% of the imaginative painting material mastered by participants, (5) Increased skills of at least each participant producing two imaginative paintings.

Abstract

Nagari Pakandangan is located in Padang Pariaman as an area coconut crops. Most of the villagers use the coconut fruit to full fill their daily needs. Almost no wasted  from the stems, leaves, coir, water, to the branches or leaf of coconut tree. But unfortunately  only few people know the right way to make coconut become souvenir. Through training and mentoring activities in community service or Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM), the community is given knowledge and skills to process coconut coir waste into souvenir. People enthusiasm for this training can be seen from the number of participants who joined the activity. Initially the team provided facilities for 10 participants, but later increased to 16 participants, ranges between 18 – 45 years old, representing 5 Korong in Nagari Pakandangan. As a result, the people of Nagari Pakandangan were able to create decorative products from coconut husk waste in the form of wind chimes and stickers. Good news, considering that the training provided is used by Wali Nagari Pakandangan to maintain and continue nurturing community to success Tourism Village (DESWITA). The creation produced through the training are used as souvenirs for tourists visiting Nagari Pakandangan.

Abstract

Sekolah Menengan Kejuruan (SMK) memiliki tantangan dalam menciptakan lulusan yang berdaya saing setelah mereka lulus nanti. Lulusan yang memiliki career readinessatau kesiapan berkarir tidak hanya diharapkan bisa terserap oleh industri namun juga bisa menciptakan lapangan kerja sendiri di tengah minimnya ketersediaan lapangan pekerjaan. SMKN 3 Padang menggaungkan berbagai program kewirausahaan atau SMK Pencetak Wirausaha untuk menstimulasi jiwa wirausahawan yang dilengkapi dengan keterampilan Bahasa Inggris. Kegiatan ini memberikan peluang kepada siswa untuk mengembangkan ide kreatif kewirausahaan secara mandiri dan lebih mengglobal. Namun demikian, terdapat beberapa permasalahan internal terkait hal ini seperti belum meratanya kesadaran kompetensi berwirausaha siswa karena siswa fokus pada mencari pekerjaan bukan menciptakan pekerjaan, belum spesifiknya bahan ajar Bahasa Inggris untuk SMK konsentrasi Bisnis, rendahnya keterampilan siswa dalam berbahasa Inggris dalam konteks bisnis. Maka dari itu diperlukan langkah kongkrit untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Kegiatan yang dapat dilakukan adalah memberikan pendampingan atau pelatihan penguatan kompetensi kewirausahaan dan keterampilan bahasa Inggris untuk bisnis dalam konteks dunia kerja 4.0.

Abstract

In the last few years, there have been a large number of trainings or professional developments carried out to enhance teachers’competence in formulating HOTS-based-test items. These phenomena then seem to put aside the capability of designing and managing classroom activities to develop students’ higher order thinking skills (HOTS). In fact, the latter is essentially needed to prepare students with knowedge and skill to solve problems given in the test. In addition, it is likely unreasonable to administer a HOTS test to those who have never attended a HOTS class.  This article then is intended to describe how a training on designing HOTS – based learning module in Junior High Schools was carried out to help teachers to conduct a HOTS-based class. The training and coaching were given to 26 of 35 teachers under the auspices of English Teacher Association in Kota Padang Panjang. Prior to the program, those who were willing to take a part were required to fill in a form of commitment confirming that they have to fully join 36 hours of training and submit a HOTS-based learning module for one meeting at the end. The instructors invited to the program were those having specialties in curriculum design and pedagogical competence. The results of the program show that most of the teachers are able to create a HOTS-based learning module to support learning process after they get some feedbacks and guidance from the instructors.
