Abdi Humaniora: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Bidang Humaniora adalah jurnal yang memuat implementasi hasil penelitian dalam bentuk kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang mencakup kajian pengembangan dan penerapan IPTEKS dalam bidang humaniora. Fokus dan Skop jurnal mencakup hasil penelitian dan implementasi pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang mencakup konsep, model dan implementasinya sebagai upaya peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat dalam pembangunan. Abstract

The purpose of this service is to train junior high school teachers in the field of Indonesianlanguage studies in Muara Enim Regency in developing teaching materials based on localwisdom. This activity is carried out using training models, lectures, questions and answers,discussions, exercises, and assignments. The implementation of service activities is carriedout on August 22 s.d. 10 September 2022 via offline and online. The target audience isIndonesian Language for junior high school teachers in Muara Enim Regency, totaling 20people. The evaluation design uses tests and observations. The results of the activity showthat teachers' understanding of the development of teaching materials based on local wisdomis still insufficient. This causes the previous learning that has not been carried out using textsbased on Muara Enim local wisdom, even though information close to students can make iteasier for them to explore the material being taught. There are several obstacles in developingfolklore that will be used as teaching materials. Therefore, regular assistance is needed toimprove the work that has been developed by the teachers. The development of the folklorewill be published as a book and is used as teaching material in school.

Abstract

Book reviews (Bedah Buku) are not only useful for criticizing someone's work, but also for increasing the reader's understanding of the book. Book reviews are one of the important post-reading activities to be carried out in order to be a bridge between the book and its readers. We carry out this activity so that the author and reader get the meaning of the book discussed from a different perspective. Using the discussion method, the book review activity that we carried out together with the Lingkar Pena Forum explored the uniqueness and shortcomings of the children's story book Kaka si Istimewa and Pesan Bapak Rangga. This activity can train the reader's critical thinking and also appreciate the work that has been produced by the author.

Abstract

This study focuses on a training program titled "Podcast and Content Creation Training at SHHIDUO as a Platform for Enhancing Productivity and Creativity for Students of SMKN 2 Padang." With the increasing significance of digital content production, the program aims to equip students with technical and creative skills in podcasting and content creation. The SHHIDUO studio, a collaboration with JBICA Korea, serves as the venue but has been underutilized due to a lack of technical knowledge among students and teachers. This training, held on July 22-23, 2024, selected 15 top students and provided hands-on learning in areas such as audio recording, video editing, and content distribution. The program successfully enhanced students' digital skills and creative confidence, preparing them for future challenges in the digital media industry.

Abstract

This program aims to improve teachers' abilities in designing and implementing differentiated learning strategies and developing insights into how to organize a learning process that is truly student-centered, each with its own unique character and personality within the classroom.The differentiated learning model is one of the recommended learning models for classroom implementation, and is a requirement of the Independent Curriculum (Curriculum Merdeka) that teachers must implement. Furthermore, this activity focuses on improving understanding of the planning, implementation, and evaluation procedures for learning that are oriented toward student success in completing the Independent Curriculum program.This training activity utilizes problem-solving methods, case studies, and project-based training (which requires the production of a final product in the form of a lesson plan for Indonesian Language subjects using the collaborative learning model and differentiated learning strategy.

Abstract

The aim of this community service activity is to develop the professional competence of teachers from the critical reading literacy aspect of high school language teachers in Koto Tangah Padang sub-district (SMA Negeri 7, SMA Negeri 8, and SMA Negeri 13 Padang). The main problems that inspired this activity were 1) lack of teacher professional skills in teaching critical reading literacy, 2) lack of teacher understanding of strategies for teaching critical reading literacy, and 3) lack of media and critical literacy space in schools. To increase teacher literacy, the service team uses four stages of training, namely: a) planning stage, b) implementing stage, c) mentoring stage, and d) monitoring and evaluation stage. This activity involved 15 English and Indonesian teachers who took part in four face-to-face training sessions. The results obtained from this training were an increase in teachers' critical reading literacy skills based on a perception questionnaire distributed to teachers of 91.7% (very positive). It is hoped that later teachers will be able to design critical reading literacy teaching modules by applying good critical reading strategies and approaches to students.

Abstract

Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang merupakan salah satu Nagari atau Desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Palembayan, Kabupaten Agam, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Nagari ini terdiri dari 4 jorong atau dusun. Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang memiliki 5 potensi ekonomi yang dapat dikembangkan, diantaranya adalah perkebunan, peternakan, perikanan, pariwisata, Home Industry, dan industri lainnya. Terbatasnya sumber daya perempuan yang berlatar pendidikan tinggi, membuat Nagari Mitra tidak memiliki motor penggerak dalam pemberdayaan kapasitas masyarakat perempuan.SiPaSan adalah suatu program yang bertemakan pemberdayaan perempuan di bawah naungan DIKTI yang dilaksanakan oleh Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa Bahasa Asing atau UKBA. Program ini menggunakan metode intervensi sosial yang memungkinkan adanya perubahan dari kualitas atau fungsi sosial suatu masyarakat atau komunitas. Adapun program-program dari SiPaSan ini,hal pertama, yaitu workshop dan training Entrepreneurship, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat perempuan dalam berwirausaha. Lalu, yang kedua adalah workshop ilmu parenting/pola asuh yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan life skills kaum perempuan dalam mengasuh dan mendidik anak secara baik dan benar. Pada akhir kegiatan, akan diadakan workshop soft skills. Workshop ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas kaum perempuan dalam public speaking, leadership, dan politik, sehingga kaum perempuan memiliki peran penting dalam mengelola Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang. Dalam program ini akan dihasilkannya beberapa luaran yang bersifat wajib dan tambahan, sebagai penunjang pelaksanaan kegiatan. Hal ini berupa buku pengembangan soft skills tematik, ringkasan eksekutif pelaksanaan program, video kegiatan, serta poster hasil pelaksanaan program. Adapun luaran tambahan yang berupa publikasi media massa, modul pembelajaran, profil hasil pelaksanaan program.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity was improving students understanding and mastery in Japanese calligraphy (shodō) as the medium to develop kana writing skill. The programme was implemented at SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang involving the 23 students. The training was developed with an educational and innovative focus, structuring it with lectures, discussion, demonstration, and guided practice. Two kinds of features were focused: (1) The knowledge on Japanese calligraphy and the ways of writing kana and (2) Practical skills for making Japanese calligraphy works. The results of the pretest showed that most students’ knowledge of Japanese calligraphy was still at a low level, with an average score of 56.1. After the training, the posttest results demonstrated significant improvement, with the average score rising to 85.5. More than half of the students (52.17%) reached the “very good” category. From the practical perspective, each student successfully produced one piece of Japanese calligraphy artwork, showing progress in accuracy, neatness, and creativity. In conclusion, the integration of Japanese calligraphy into learning activities proved effective in improving both knowledge and practical skills. This method not only supports students’ language learning outcomes but also fosters cultural appreciation, creativity, and active engagement in the learning process.

Abstract

Keberadaan karang taruna dimaksudkan sebagai wadah pemuda untuk dapat mengembangkan diri dan berpartisipasi dalam kehidupan bersosial dan bermasyarakat. Untuk itu, pemuda diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi Masyarakat sekitarnya. Tulisan ini dilatarbelakangi adanya femonema pemuda anggota karang taruna kota Padang yang masih memerlukan isntensifikasi keterampilan berbicara untuk mendukung lifeskill mereka. Tidak sedikit dari pemuda masih kesulitan untuk menunjukkan kontribusi di Masyarakat karena masih kurangnya kketerampilan yang dimiliki. Salah satu keterampilan yang dapat dikembangkan dan dijadikan lifeskill adalah keterampilan berbicara. Keterampilan berbicara dikhususkan pada kemampuan public speaking lebih khusus lagi adalah Master of Ceremony (MC). Untuk itu, tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan berbicara pemuda anggota karang Taruna kota Padang. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pelatihan komprehensif melalui workshop terbimbing. Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan ini adalah pertama, subjek kegiatan ini mampu memahami dasar-dasar master of ceremony (MC). Kedua, subjek kegiatan ini mampu menulis skenario susunan acara formal dan non formal. Ketiga, subjek kegiatan ini mampu membawakan skenario susunan acara formal dan non formal.

Abstract

This community service program was carried out to introduce and train students in kimekomi, a traditional Japanese handicraft, as part of the integration of language, art, and culture in learning Japanese. The activity was conducted at SMKN 9 Padang and involved 27 students. The training employed an educational and creative approach through lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and guided as well as independent practice. Two main aspects were emphasized: (1) students’ knowledge of kimekomi as a traditional Japanese cultural art, and (2) students’ skills in producing kimekomi handicrafts. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ knowledge. The average score increased from 52.3 (pretest) to 87.3 (posttest), with the mode shifting from 50 to 80, and the median rising from 50 to 90. The standard deviation decreased from 21.59 to 9.6, indicating that students’ achievements became more evenly distributed. In terms of skills, all participants successfully completed their kimekomi works according to the given patterns and demonstrated adequate craftsmanship through guided and independent practice. In conclusion, the kimekomi training program proved effective in improving both cognitive and practical aspects of students’ learning. It not only enhanced their understanding of Japanese cultural heritage but also fostered creativity and productivity through hands-on artistic activities.

Abstract

Elementary school teachers encounter a range of challenges in fulfilling their professional responsibilities. These issues require systematic and gradual solutions. In collaboration with partner institutions, two priority areas were identified: (1) the conceptual development of origami as a craft lesson in elementary schools, and (2) the practical implementation of origami crafts in classroom. The problem-solving approach involved model development, counseling, and training activities. In line with the predetermined output targets, the program successfully produced several mandatory outputs: (1) scientific articles published in journals or proceedings, (2) articles disseminated through electronic media, and (3) short activity videos with a maximum duration of five minutes. Additional outputs included: (1) enhanced application of science and technology within the community through the integration of origami craft techniques at partner elementary schools, (2) improved community capacity reflected in increased knowledge and skills of participants, and (3) training products serving as methods, systems, or service-oriented innovations.
