Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning model for listening skills that integrates a synthetic approach, local cultural content, and audiovisual technology in Indonesian language education. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design with the ADDIE framework (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), data were collected through surveys, interviews, observations, and expert evaluations, and analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings indicate that integrating local cultural content with audiovisual technology not only enhances students’ listening skills but also increases their motivation and active participation. By presenting learning material that is culturally relevant, engaging, and interactive, students become more interested, involved, and motivated throughout the learning process. Further research is recommended to examine the feasibility of this model across diverse educational contexts and to develop more comprehensive assessment tools that can better capture improvements in listening skills and student engagement.

Abstract

Choosing a senior high school strand is one of the most challenging decisions that junior high school students will have to face. The study aimed to help students decide on their future senior high school strand by knowing the factors’ influence levels and their relationship with their decision. The survey was conducted online (Grade 9 and Grade 10 students) using the total sampling method. We employed a self-made questionnaire that went through content validation using Aiken’s V formula. Descriptive statistics were then used to analyze and interpret the results of the study. In the survey’s results, 2.3% of the students chose GAS as their senior high school strand, 15.9% chose HUMSS, and 73.9% chose STEM, leaving the ABM strand with 8%. The personal interest factor had the highest level of influence among the factors, with a mean of 4.21, followed by job opportunities with a mean of 4.17, socioeconomic status with a mean of 3.89, parents with a mean of 3.63, and academic performance with a mean of 3.38. However, in terms of the factors’ significant relationships with the senior high school strands, socioeconomic status, parents, job opportunities, and personal interests were found to have no significant influence when deciding, and academic performance is the only factor that has a significant influence on the students’ preferred strand. As a result, the null hypothesis of the study is accepted because only one out of five factors were found to have a significant relationship when deciding on a senior high school strand.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the response of junior high school students to online learning in suppressing the spread of COVID-19. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using online questionnaires. The questionnaire consists of several question points regarding online learning. The questionnaire was distributed in the form of a google form link via Whatsapp Group. The target respondents in this study were 52 students. Based on the results of student responses, most students responded well to the implementation of online learning. Students' understanding of the learning material delivered by the teacher during online learning can be understood by most students. A small number of students are supported by their parents in the implementation of online learning. The average duration of students carrying out online learning in a day is 3-4 hours. Most of the students’ responses to online learning stated that they could not interact with the teacher directly, which made it difficult for students to carry out online learning. Therefore, in dealing with online learning difficulties faced by students, a more interactive online learning media is needed, so that the level of interaction between teachers and students online can be the same as the level of student interaction offline.

Abstract

In an era characterized by rapid technological advancements and interconnectedness, traditional approaches to education are being reimagined. Connectivism is a theory of learning that combines information and communication technology to form a networked learning environment. This expository article addresses the connective theory and explores its applications to curriculum and instructional strategies, using a literature review approach. Connectivism's influence on curriculum design is profound, encouraging educators to revise learning experiences, because the increasing use of technology as an educational tool has changed the learning landscape. It also shapes instructional strategies that align with the digital age because Connectivism relies heavily on technology, so the first step to creating a connective classroom is to introduce more opportunities for digital learning. The combination of digital literacy and critical thinking skills is essential for students to develop the skills necessary to work and communicate effectively in a diverse and interconnected world. As educators seek to embrace connectivism and its applications in curriculum and instruction, it made some practical recommendations to effectively implement connectivism in educational settings: Ensure educators and students are proficient in using these tools to maximize their connective learning experience.

Abstract

This study aimed to enhance students’ occupational identity and self-efficacy in art and design education through a theory-integrated self-education model. Using a mixed-methods approach grounded in Social Cognitive Theory, Vocational Identity Theory, and Career Self-Efficacy Theory, the model was developed and tested with first-year vocational students. The model’s effectiveness was evaluated through pre- and post-intervention assessments and qualitative interviews. Results revealed improvements in identity awareness, career exploration, and self-efficacy dimensions, including problem-solving and career planning. These improvements occurred because the model integrated project-based learning, industry exposure, and structured reflection, enabling students to link learning with future careers. This has implications for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (quality education) by promoting inclusive, relevant, and future-oriented learning frameworks for creative vocational education. The model provides educators and policymakers with a replicable structure for supporting professional growth in rapidly evolving industries.

Abstract

The competence of students in Indonesia is still in a low rank based on their problem-solving and reasoning abilities. The pandemic condition forces distance learning to hinder the improvement of students' abilities if there is no innovation in learning that can help students to always be motivated in learning. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using TikTok as a learning media innovation to train computational thinking skills, especially in the distance learning process. The research method uses a quantitative approach with the target of 9th-grade junior high school students. The results of the study showed that the post-test average of students was 89.3%, increasing 32.2% from the pre-test results which only reached 57.1%. This shows that short videos uploaded through TikTok can be an effective and innovative learning media.
