Abstract

The education enrollment rate is crucial for Indonesia to improve its human resources and sustain its economic development. In reality, the dropout student rate is still relatively high. Previous research has highlighted several factors and models related to the dropout student rate in Indonesia. The purpose of the study is to identify the most popular statistical modeling and factors influencing school dropout in Indonesia. We searched in February 2023 using ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. The search was restricted to refereed journal articles published in English from January 2013 to December 2022. This study underwent four stages: identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. The study finds that the most popular statistical modeling is the Logistic Regression Model, and the most significant factor increasing the school dropout rate in Indonesia is family and economic factors. The findings suggest that children who were not attending school came from families with lower levels of education. The well-being of these families was directly linked to their children's educational status. The primary reasons for young students dropping out of elementary and junior schools include an inability to pay school fees and a desire to work on farms to support their parents.

Abstract

Tangerang is counted among Indonesia's fastest-growing industries and population since it is located near the capital. At the current rate of population growth, the population by 2035 is expected to reach more than 2 million by appliying the geometric method. Rapid population growth has severe environmental damage. A simple linear regression calculation was applied to predict the Tangerang waste generation and it is expected to grow to 1,57 million tonnes by 2035. The Pearson's correlation was used to examine the impact of population growth in Tangerang on waste generation. Overall, there is a positive correlation between population growth and waste generation. The increase in the amount of waste can affect the formation of leachate. Rawa Kucing is the main Tangerang landfill that implements an open dumping system in its waste management. One of the negative impacts of the open dumping system is the potential for leachate generation. This study performed a simple calculation of leachate volume to illustrate leachate generation in Rawa Kucing. The more leachate produced, the greater the level of contamination since it contains highly toxic components, and it will escape from the Rawa Kucing landfill, contaminating the groundwater, potentially polluting the environment and harming human health.

Abstract

Green Open Spaces (RTH) are urban areas filled with vegetation that support ecological benefits, such as reducing greenhouse gases by absorbing CO₂ through photosynthesis. Although RTH accounts for 66 percent of the area along Jalan Hertasning, its effectiveness in absorbing CO₂ emissions from motor vehicles is not fully understood. Given the high volume of vehicles, especially during peak traffic hours, a deeper understanding of the RTH's capability to reduce CO₂ emissions is necessary. This study aims to measure CO₂ emissions from transportation, assess the RTH's ability to absorb CO₂, and develop effective RTH enhancement strategies. The research location is Jalan Hertasning in Makassar City. The method used in this study is descriptive with a quantitative approach. Results show that CO₂ emissions during peak hours cannot be fully absorbed by the existing 508 Trembles trees, which have a total absorption capacity of 1,652.07 kg/hour and cover an area of 4.4 hectares, or 75.9 percent of Jalan Hertasning. There remains 3,168.59 kg/hour of CO₂ emissions from the total 4,820.66 kg/hour during peak traffic. In addition to Trembles trees, there are other trees like Palm and Terminalia mantaly, which are still growing and not included in this study but could increase the RTH's absorption capacity in the future. The high CO₂ emissions from motor vehicles significantly impact air quality and public health. It is recommended that the government actively conduct environmental awareness campaigns focused on reducing CO₂ emissions and the importance of RTH. These campaigns can be carried out through social media, posters along Jalan Hertasning, and community outreach to reduce CO₂ levels by increasing public participation in maintaining RTH.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the adsorption kinetic model of Cd(II) from aqueous solution using Surfactant Modified Activated Carbon-Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SMAC-SLS). This study began by varying pH, contact time, and adsorbate concentration. The concentration of Cd(II) was measured using a spectrophotometric method. The results of the analysis showed that the optimum pH occurred at pH 5 with an adsorption percentage of 84.58±1.44% and the optimum contact time at 100 minutes with an adsorption percentage of 88.75±1.5%. Furthermore, in the variation of adsorbate concentration, the adsorption percentage decreased with increasing adsorbate concentration. The adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo second order with an R2 value of 0.9945 with an adsorption capacity of 8.89 mg/g. Thus, the use of SMAC-SLS as a future adsorbent for Cd(II) is highly recommended.

Abstract

Limits of function is one of sub-topic of Calculus that is complex and difficult to understand. Several studies, both examining misconception and understanding related to function limits, aim to improve teaching and learning. This research is single Subject Research with a single subject, namely by Student of National Mathematics Olimpiad ON MIPA in University. Data was collected through a test instrument consisting of 7 questions on understanding function limits and interviews were conducted to confirm the subject's answers. Data analysis is qualitative. The research results show that 1) Subject can determine the limit value of the function. However, the subject still has a partial understanding. 2) Subject does not understand the meaning of function limits. The subject believes that if there are 2 functions with the same function limit value, then both functions will be the same. 3) Subject can determine the value of the left limit and the right limit from the graph of the given function. 4) Subject cannot formally prove (epsilon-delta) the limit value of the function, the subject does not yet understand what information is given, what information will be sought. The subject is also not able to determine the delta limit in proof problems that have factors 5) Subject can determine the limit value at infinity 6) Subject can determine the value of infinite limit 7) Subject can investigate whether a function is continuous or not continuous. The conclusion of the research is that from 7 understandings of function limits, the subject has 4 perfect understandings regarding left and right limits, limits at infinity and infinity and function continuity. However, the subject was not yet able to prove the limit (epsilon-delta).
