Abstract

This research is motivated by the low cognitive ability of 1st-grade elementary students (MI) in mathematics, particularly in addition and subtraction materials. The main problems include conventional and monotonous teaching methods, low student interest, and students' difficulties in distinguishing between arithmetic operations. The purpose of this study is to determine the significant influence of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) method supported by Math Adventure manipulative media on students' cognitive abilities. The methodology used is a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research design. The population and sample of the study consist of all 22 students in the 1st grade of MI Islamiyah Pakel Tuban for the 2025/2026 academic year. Data collection instruments include observation sheets, documentation, and cognitive ability tests (pre-test and post-test). Data analysis techniques utilize validity, reliability, normality, and homogeneity tests, as well as hypothesis testing using the SPSS program. Data collection was carried out through essay tests given in the form of a pre-test and post-test, which were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The research results indicate that the average post-test score of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group. The paired sample t-test shows a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores in both groups, while the independent sample t-test shows a significant difference between the students' critical thinking skills in the experimental and control groups. Based on the data analysis, it is concluded that there is a significant influence of the combination of the method and media on the improvement of students' cognitive abilities in mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the extent to which the use of the educational game Stairs & Cigarettes can improve high school students' understanding of the dangers of smoking. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects were 34 students of grades X-F of SMA Negeri 9 Banjarmasin who participated in classical guidance services. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire on understanding the dangers of smoking given to students at the pretest stage to determine their initial level of understanding, then after being given treatment in the form of the educational game Stairs & Cigarettes, students were given a posttest to determine changes in understanding after the treatment. The research instrument was a questionnaire on understanding the dangers of smoking compiled based on the Health Belief Model indicators with 74 items that have been tested for validity and represent indicators of perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test. The results showed that the average student understanding score increased from 265.09 in the pretest to 309.85 in the posttest. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of p<0.05, indicating a significant increase in student understanding after the treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the educational game Stairs & Cigarettes has a significant effect on increasing high school students' understanding of the dangers of smoking.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of AI Story Mapping and Canva Storyboard as learning media in teaching short story writing with social inclusion as the thematic focus, and compare the effectiveness of the two media. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. Data were collected from pretest and posttest scores, supported by classroom observations and interviews. The research sample consisted of two classes. Data collection was conducted through written tests, observations, and interviews. Data analysis techniques included statistical procedures such as the normality test, homogeneity test, paired-sample t-test, N-Gain analysis, and independent-sample t-test. The results showed that the average N-Gain percentage for the AI Story Mapping media was 63.2363%, while the Canva Storyboard media achieved an average of 64.5803%. These findings indicate that both learning media demonstrated a moderate level of effectiveness and were categorized as quite effective. Furthermore, the difference in effectiveness between the two media was approximately 1.34%. In conclusion, both AI Story Mapping and Canva Storyboard are equally effective for teaching short story writing, with no significant difference in their effectiveness.

Abstract

This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design aimed at obtaining an in-depth understanding of the utilization of illustrated visual media in early childhood literacy activities. The research subjects were children enrolled in one of the Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions. This approach was selected to comprehensively describe the naturally occurring learning process and to capture children's responses during the implementation of literacy activities. Data were collected through participatory observation and documentation techniques. Observation was conducted to directly examine children’s engagement, learning interactions, and the implementation of illustrated visual media in the literacy process. Documentation served as supporting data, including activity records, children’s work, and relevant instructional archives. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, systematic data display, and conclusion drawing to generate meaningful findings. The findings revealed that the use of illustrated visual media in literacy activities made a positive contribution to enhancing children’s engagement and active participation during the learning process. The media effectively captured children’s attention, stimulated their interest in learning, and facilitated their understanding of the Islamic values conveyed. Therefore, the use of illustrated visual media can be considered an effective instructional strategy to support literacy development as well as the internalization of values in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Augmented Reality (AR) Assemblr EDU learning media on the science and social studies (IPAS) learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at Elementary School. A quantitative approach with quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The research subjects consisted of 44 fifth-grade students, with 22 students in the experimental group and 22 students in the control group, selected through total sampling. Data were collected using cognitive test instruments that had been validated for reliability and validity. Data analysis included normality testing (Shapiro-Wilk), homogeneity testing (Levene), hypothesis testing (Independent Sample T-Test), and N-Gain analysis. Results showed that the experimental class average posttest score (93) was higher than the control class (79). The Independent Sample T-Test yielded t = 5.567 with significance <0.001, indicating a significant difference between both groups. The N-Gain value of the experimental class reached 70.35% (high category), while the control class obtained 40.22% (medium category). It is concluded that the use of AR Assemblr EDU media has a positive and significant effect on improving IPAS learning outcomes of fifth-grade students on the topic of Getting to Know Our Earth.

Abstract

Most DPIB students consider Engineering Mechanics as a scary subject and tend to be a burden, so students often find it difficult to understand the lesson. One of the factors causing students to find it difficult to understand Engineering Mechanics is the way the teacher delivers the lesson. One learning model that can be used to support Engineering Mechanics learning is a collaborative learning model by dividing students into small groups and working together to solve a problem by exchanging ideas. Through this learning model, it is expected that students' interest and motivation can increase in learning activities. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of collaborative learning when applied in Engineering Mechanics learning for class X DPIB at SMKN 11 Malang compared to conventional learning. The sample consisted of 30 class X DPIB students of SMKN 11 Malang. Data collection was carried out using an Engineering Mechanics problem-solving ability test instrument which was divided into a pre-test and a post-test. The results of the data analysis showed that the significance value of the covariance analysis test was greater than the significance value level so that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the collaborative learning model is effective in improving the understanding of Engineering Mechanics in class X DPIB students at SMKN 11 Malang.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing a multimodal text approach in enhancing the teaching skills of Indonesian language teachers in Palu City. The multimodal text approach, which integrates visual, verbal, audio, and digital modes, is considered relevant to the demands of 21st-century learning and the Merdeka Curriculum that emphasizes creativity, interaction, and meaningful learning experiences. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method involving Indonesian language teachers at the junior high school level in Palu City as key informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of supporting documents. The findings reveal that the use of multimodal texts has a positive impact on both the learning process and teachers’ instructional skills. Teachers become more creative, adaptive, and innovative in designing learning activities, as well as more capable of addressing students’ diverse learning needs. Learning becomes more engaging, interactive, and easier to understand through the support of visual, audio, and digital media. Additionally, the study identifies three emerging teacher habits: resilience in dealing with technological limitations, adaptability to digital changes, and transformative attitudes in developing more relevant and contextual teaching practices. However, several challenges persist, including limited technological devices, power disruptions, and unequal digital proficiency among teachers. Overall, the study confirms that the multimodal text approach is an effective strategy for improving the teaching skills of Indonesian language teachers and enhancing the quality of learning in the digital era. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for schools and policymakers to strengthen teacher competencies through adequate training and technological support.

Abstract

The shifting educational paradigm in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) reflects an orientation toward character strengthening through a humanistic and student-centered approach. However, classroom discipline practices remain predominantly structural and administrative, limiting relational engagement and the internalization of compassion. This study aims to analyze the paradigm shift in classroom discipline from the Merdeka Curriculum framework toward the Love-Based Curriculum and to formulate a synthesis model for character development. This research employs a qualitative conceptual approach using a library research method. The analysis draws on scholarly articles published between ten years ago, retrieved from Google Scholar, DOAJ, and the Garuda portal, selected based on thematic relevance, journal indexing, and contextual alignment with Islamic education. Data were examined using content analysis and conceptual synthesis techniques. The findings indicate a shift from structural discipline toward relational and value-internalization-based discipline. While the Merdeka Curriculum provides pedagogical flexibility, the Love-Based Curriculum emphasizes empathy and respect for students’ dignity. Their synthesis results in a holistic discipline model that theoretically better supports religious character formation and personal responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of the concept of homo religiosus into peace education within the context of religious pluralism in order to construct a more coherent and contextual conceptual foundation. The research employs a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review design. Data were collected from peer reviewed international journal articles published in the last five years and from the classical work The Sacred and the Profane as a foundational reference in religious anthropology. The collection process involved identification, screening, and final selection based on rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed through qualitative content analysis and iterative conceptual synthesis to formulate an integrative framework. The findings indicate that contemporary peace education is largely instrumental and normatively grounded in human rights and global citizenship paradigms, emphasizing dialogue skills while lacking a robust anthropological foundation. Integrating the concept of homo religiosus shifts the paradigm from a technical orientation toward an anthropological one that recognizes religious consciousness as integral to identity formation. In conclusion, peace education in plural societies becomes more sustainable when grounded in an understanding of human beings as meaning seeking subjects, allowing tolerance to emerge as ethical awareness rather than mere normative compliance.

Abstract

Early reading ability is a fundamental skill that elementary school students need to support their literacy development in later stages. However, early reading instruction still faces several challenges, particularly the low reading skills of students and the limited use of engaging instructional media. This study aims to analyze the revitalization of learning media in transforming early reading instruction for elementary school students. This research employed a mixed-method approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis, which were then integrated to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the findings. The results show that most students are not yet able to read fluently, have difficulty with accurate pronunciation, and demonstrate low confidence when reading. Early reading instruction is still dominated by the use of textbooks, while the availability of learning media remains limited. In addition, students show strong interest in learning media that are interactive, game-based, visually appealing, colorful, and contain clear and readable letters. These findings highlight the importance of revitalizing learning media that align with students’ characteristics to support more effective early reading instruction
