Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students on the addition of fractions material between the use of interactive digital media based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and interactive digital media based on Virtual Reality (VR). This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students on the addition of fractions material and the limited use of innovative technology-based learning media that are in line with the characteristics of 21st-century learners. Interactive digital media based on ICT and VR are considered capable of helping students understand the abstract concept of fractions through visualization and learning interactions that are more interesting and meaningful. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The subjects of the study were fifth-grade students of Dr. Soetomo Elementary School Surabaya, who were divided into two groups: an experimental group using interactive digital media based on ICT and another experimental group using interactive digital media based on Virtual Reality (VR). Data collection techniques included learning outcome tests in the form of pretests and posttests, as well as observations to assess student responses during the learning process. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and independent sample t-tests. The results show that there are significant differences in learning outcomes between students who use ICT-based interactive digital media and students who use VR-based interactive digital media in learning fraction addition. Students who learn using VR-based interactive digital media achieve higher learning outcomes compared to students who use ICT-based interactive digital media. Therefore, Virtual Reality (VR)-based interactive digital media can be used as an effective alternative learning medium to improve elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes, especially in the material of fraction addition.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model combined with a Deep Learning approach in improving students’ reflective thinking skills on the topic of animal metamorphosis in third-grade students at SDN Keboananom Gedangan. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design involving two experimental classes. Data were collected through tests (pretest and posttest), observation sheets of teaching management, student response questionnaires, and reflective thinking attitude scales. Data analysis was conducted using the N-Gain test to measure the improvement in students’ reflective thinking skills. The results showed that the teacher’s instructional management was categorized as effective, with an average observation score of 42.5 in experimental class 1 and 39.5 in experimental class 2, indicating that the learning process was implemented well and consistently. Furthermore, students’ reflective thinking skills showed a significant improvement. In   experimental class 1, the average pretest score of 41.6 increased to 92.20 in the posttest, with an N-Gain score of 0.87 (high category) and an improvement percentage of 86.43%. Meanwhile, in experimental class 2, the average pretest score of 43.96 increased to 87.08 in the posttest, with an N-Gain score of 0.77 (high category) and an improvement percentage of 76.66%. These findings indicate that the PjBL model combined with the Deep Learning approach is highly effective in enhancing students’ reflective thinking skills. This improvement occurs because students are actively involved in the learning process through project activities, discussions, exploration, and continuous reflection.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the fraud hexagon on academic fraud among students in the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Negeri Semarang, Class of 2024. This study employs a quantitative method using a questionnaire in the form of a Google Form distributed via personal and group chats. The sampling technique selected was proportional random sampling to ensure that each department was proportionally represented, resulting in a sample of 322 students. Instrument validation was conducted using validity and reliability tests to ensure the quality of the indicators used. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistical analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results of the study indicate that the variables of pressure, rationalization, and arrogance do not influence student academic fraud, while the variables of opportunity, ability, and collusion do influence student academic fraud. The recommendation from this study is that the university should strengthen its monitoring system and minimize opportunities for academic fraud, as well as channel students’ potential toward more positive directions to curb academic fraud.

Abstract

Maraknya penggunaan bahasa tidak santun di media sosial, khususnya pada unggahan figur publik kontroversial, menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Fenomena tersebut tampak pada kolom komentar unggahan klarifikasi Abidzar terkait remake A Business Proposal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) medeskripsikan bentuk etika berbahasa netizen, (2) menjelaskan dampaknya terhadap publik. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Lokasi penelitian adalah platform Instagram. Sumber data berupa kolom komentar netizen pada unggahan klarifikasi Abidzar tersebut. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik dokumentasi dan teknik catat. Instrumen utama adalah peneliti sendiri dengan dibantu tabel klasifikasi data. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan dengan mengacu pada teori sosiolinguistik Chaer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Bentuk etika berbahasa terwujud dalam ungkapan empati, dukungan moral, apresiasi, dan ajakan bersikap bijak; (2) Makna etika berbahasa mencerminkan dukungan sosial dan upaya meredam konflik; (3) Dampaknya berkontribusi menciptakan iklim komunikasi kondusif, membentuk persepsi publik yang seimbang, dan meningkatkan solidaritas sosial. Simpulan penelitian mengungkap bahwa kolom komentar media sosial dapat berfungsi sebagai media aktualisasi etika berbahasa positif, bukan sekadar ruang konflik. Disarankan agar penelitian mendatang memperluas objek kajian dan mencakup berbagai platform media sosial.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing professional demands of elementary school teachers that have the potential to cause psychological stress and the risk of burnout. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-compassion and gratitude and burnout among elementary school teachers in Makassar City. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design, involving 300 teachers as respondents selected through a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used included the Maslach Burnout Inventory–Educators Survey (MBI-ES), the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), and the Gratitude Questionnaire (GQ-6). Data analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation tests and multiple linear regression. The results showed that respondents' burnout levels tended to be low, while self-compassion and gratitude were in the moderate to high categories. Partial tests showed that self-compassion had a negative and significant relationship with burnout (β = -1.019; p < 0.001), as did gratitude (β = -0.861; p < 0.001). Simultaneous tests showed that self-compassion and gratitude were significantly related to burnout (R = 0.717; R² = 0.514; p < 0.001), meaning that both variables were able to explain 51.4% of the variation in burnout. These findings indicate that self-compassion and gratitude act as protective factors in reducing burnout in teachers. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing positive psychology-based interventions, such as self-compassion training and gratitude enhancement programs, as preventive strategies to maintain teacher mental health and improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Teaching Pancasila in elementary schools requires teaching materials that can help students understand and apply the values of Pancasila in concrete ways in their daily lives. However, the use of interactive and contextual teaching materials remains limited, resulting in suboptimal student engagement and learning outcomes. This study aims to develop the KOJERUPAN (Pancasila Space Exploration Box) learning medium based on a smartbox that is valid, practical, and effective for improving student learning outcomes on Pancasila values. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects consisted of 27 fourth-grade students at SDN Ngaliyan 03. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that the KOJERUPAN medium received validation scores from subject matter experts and media experts with a percentage above 90% across all evaluation aspects, thus falling into the “highly valid” category. The practicality test results yielded a percentage of 99.65%, falling into the highly practical category. The effectiveness test results showed an increase in the average student score from 70.56 on the pretest to 82.96 on the posttest, with a t-test significance value of 0.00 < 0.05, and an N-Gain value of 0.43 in the moderate category. Based on these results, the smartbox-based KOJERUPAN medium was found to be highly valid, practical, and effective, making it suitable for use as an innovative alternative for teaching Pancasila in elementary schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the conditions of using learning media in BIPA level 4 classes and analyze its suitability with the principles of communicative approach in encouraging the production of learners' speech. The researcher uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was carried out through passive participatory observation (seat-in), documentation, and unstructured interviews with BIPA teachers. The collected data was analyzed using an interactive analysis model that included the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, and its validity was guaranteed through source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the study show that the learning media used is still dominated by Microsoft PowerPoint which is conventional and has not been systematically integrated in the learning design. Four inconsistencies were found with the principle of the communicative approach, namely that the media has not been able to present an authentic communication situation, interaction between learners is not facilitated in a planned manner, cultural integration in the media has not been optimal, and the initiation of speaking independently is only observed in one in four learners. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the dominance of conventional media has an impact on the limited space for the production of meaningful speech for BIPA level 4 learners, so that more communicative, contextual, and culture-based media innovations are needed in advanced BIPA learning.
