Abstract

Authentic assessment is essential in physical education, sports, and health, encompassing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions. Despite the existence of assessment tools for fundamental movements, their widespread adoption remains limited. This study aims to assess the viability of the Instrument for Authentic Assessment in Physical Education (IPOPJ) within Indonesian and Malaysian elementary schools, offering a comparative analysis of the educational systems in both countries. The research objectives encompass understanding the implementation process of IPOPJ, identifying obstacles, and evaluating adherence to predefined standards. Employing concurrent triangulation, the study gathers quantitative data through questionnaires and qualitative data through observations and interviews. Analysis is focused on communication, resource availability, disposition, and bureaucratic structures. Findings from statistical analyses using Z-tests and concurrent triangulation reveal the absence of significant differences in responses from physical education teachers in Indonesia and Malaysia, indicating a high chance of IPOPJ implementation success in both countries. This study underscores the important role of effective communication, adequate resources, positive disposition, and streamlined bureaucratic structures in facilitating successful assessment implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of internalizing the values of the Ngaben ceremony in history learning on students' cultural literacy and social attitudes. The research employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design. The study adopts a posttest-only control group design and was conducted in senior high schools in Buleleng Regency, Bali Province, with a total population of 547 students. The sample was selected using a random sampling technique, resulting in 61 students divided into experimental and control groups. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire method. Cultural literacy was measured using a cultural literacy questionnaire, while social attitudes were assessed through a social attitude questionnaire. The data were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Hypothesis testing was conducted using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The results indicate that the F-values for Pillai's Trace, Wilks' Lambda, Hotelling's Trace, and Roy's Largest Root were 12.710, with a significance value of 0.000 (lower than the significance threshold of 0.05). These findings suggest a significant simultaneous difference in cultural literacy and social attitudes between students who received history instruction incorporating the values of the Ngaben ceremony and those who did not. Various components supporting the Ngaben ceremony demonstrate its strong association with cultural activities, enhancing students' cultural literacy. The essence of the Ngaben ceremony lies in its educational values, which can be instilled in students to shape their social attitudes.

Abstract

School resilience must be strengthened for schools to be resilient and adaptable to change. To improve school resilience, change management is required. School resilience will be effective if teacher and student resilience supports it. Strengthening bonding, setting clear and consistent boundaries, teaching life skills, providing caring and support, setting and communicating high expectations, and offering opportunities for meaningful participation are all components of school resilience. On the other hand, individual resilience consists of seven components: emotional regulation, impulse control, empathy, optimism, causal analysis, self-efficacy, and reaching out. If there is a synergy of work at the macro, mezzo, and micro levels, the school resilience policy will be formed. This research aims to determine the level of school resilience and the change management strategies needed to strengthen the resilience of Indonesian schools in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The sequential explanatory mixed method approach (Cresswell) was used as the research method, and the subjects of this study were Saudi Arabia teachers and high school students. The findings of this study concluded that the average school resilience profile, as perceived by teachers and students, was in the moderately resilient category, which aligned with the individual resilience levels of teachers and students. In order to strengthen all aspects that must be owned by the school, such as the existence of fundamental values, synergy of social roles, development of competencies and skills, literacy knowledge, social punishment, and the existence of excellent programs sustainably designed by schools, the school must be able to apply the phases of change management supported by the synergy between roles.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine the necessity of a learning leadership model for vocational school principals to realise student well-being in the context of Merdeka Belajar, (2) develop a theoretically and empirically valid learning leadership model for vocational high school principals to achieve student well-being (KPK-SW model) within the context of Merdeka Belajar, and (3) assess the effectiveness of the learning leadership model for vocational high school principals in achieving student well-being within the Merdeka Belajar framework. This research employed the Research and Development method, consisting of four phases: the initial phase, the planning phase, the testing, evaluation, and revision phase, and the implementation phase. The testing process was carried out in three stages: an initial trial involving 10 experts and education practitioners. The data were collected through focus group discussions, questionnaires, documents, observations, and interviews. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire instruments were ensured through expert validation. The validity of qualitative data was confirmed through informant review and data triangulation models. Quantitative data analysis was done using descriptive analysis techniques, while qualitative data was analysed using an interactive analysis model. The research findings indicate that the KPK-SW model fosters student well-being. The level of importance, according to users, includes scores of 4.44 from the Head of the Education Department of DIY, 4.39 from school supervisors, 3.32 from the Secondary Education Office, and 4.38 from education experts. The total average score is 4.38, suggesting this model is highly significant and suitable for implementation.

Abstract

Music education promotes students' cultural and intellectual development, particularly in preserving traditional music. Sundanese traditional music in Indonesia, mainly through the concept of titilaras, encapsulates cultural identity and history. Modern music education encounters a hurdle as Western musical notation predominates courses, resulting in students needing help comprehending and performing Sundanese music due to the disparities in notation systems. This research examined the imperative of safeguarding Sundanese titilaras by investigating the incorporation of Western musical notation in its pedagogy to improve students' proficiency in reading and composing traditional Sundanese music. The research utilized a qualitative action research technique at Indonesian University of Education, engaging 48 students from various cultural origins and different levels of music education. The research evaluated students' skills in titilaras before and after integrating Western notation through surveys, aural assessments, and music transcription activities. The findings revealed that most pupils encountered difficulties with Sundanese musical notation while demonstrating proficiency in Western notation. Utilizing Western musical notation as an instructional instrument, students exhibited enhanced comprehension and execution of Sundanese scales, particularly in practical contexts such as transcription and melody interpretation. The study indicated that integrating Western notation into the curriculum could enhance accessibility to traditional music for students acquainted with Western systems. Thus, Sundanese music maintained its cultural integrity while fulfilling modern educational requirements. This research underscored the necessity of modifying music education to preserve local musical traditions within an increasingly international framework.

Abstract

This article aims to evaluate the concept and implementation of government policy, making academic writing a mandatory final assignment option for students. The evaluation focuses on related laws and regulations, especially the Ministerial Regulation issued by the government since 2023. Therefore, this study is relevant by describing the policy, which has been in effect for almost a year. The policy is within the authority of the central government and relevant ministers. Apart from that, the policy is in line with one of the principles of higher education in an effort to keep up with changes and developments over time. However, some provisions are not in sync with the Ministerial Regulation, which forms the legal basis for implementing the policy. Apart from that, the policy deviates from the concept of education and higher education and existing laws and regulations which regulate education and higher education. This research is normative research from a legal perspective and covers the field of education. This research technique was carried out by means of a literature review, which analysed regulations, theories, and expert opinions from a legal and educational perspective.

Abstract

Online gaming is becoming popular among teenagers as adults. The impacts of playing games may be positive or negative. Hence, the research aims to determine the impacts of online gaming on one's social and psychological well-being, specifically in terms of how online gaming affects students' social integration and social interactions and how online gaming is related to depression. The participants in this study are 180 college students, and data was analysed quantitatively. The findings revealed that among the college students, the majority identified as explorers (33%), followed by achievers (30%), killers (24%), and socializers (13%). The study indicated that while moderate gaming can enhance social integration, excessive gaming is linked to increased feelings of loneliness and depression. Students who spent less than three hours gaming maintained their real-life social relationships, suggesting that controlled gaming can coexist with healthy social interactions. Conversely, those who experienced feelings of loneliness in-game were more likely to report depressive symptoms, highlighting the importance of social support in mitigating negative psychological outcomes. In conclusion, online gaming does not inherently harm social and psychological well-being; rather, gaming time management and the nature of social interactions determine its impact. Recommendations include promoting awareness of mental health issues related to gaming and encouraging students to seek support when needed.
