Abstract

Waste is a major environmental problem that requires careful management. One of the largest sources of waste in cities is households. The use of fresh herbal medicine residue is emphasized in the processing of organic waste from traditional herbal medicine. To produce liquid organic fertilizer (POC), herbal medicine waste is processed and fermented using techniques such as soluble bioactivators. By providing knowledge and techniques for processing household organic waste that can be used as fertilizer for plants in yards, this program aims to improve the community's capabilities. This activity took place from September to November 2025 in Kampung Jamu Gendong Sumbersari, located in Wonolopo Village, Mijen District, Semarang City, Central Java. The activity was carried out through POC training and practice, partner supervision, and activity evaluation. The Sumbersari Jamu Gendong Crafters Group, consisting of 58 people, was the target partner. Using the EM4 liquid fermentation method, herbal medicine waste can be processed into liquid organic fertilizer (POC). The results of the implementation show high enthusiasm among partners and increased community understanding of the processing and utilization of herbal medicine production waste, as well as its independent implementation in the community. This demonstrates better crop yields when POC is used as fertilizer for plants in home gardens.

Abstract

The Internet has driven a significant shift in product promotion and marketing, moving the trend from conventional to digital. Social media platforms, particularly Instagram, are now crucial for achieving broader consumer outreach. However, many Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have yet to fully optimize these channels for promotion and marketing. A specific case is the Kendra Sutera Sabilulungan woven cloth artisans, placed in Tasikmalaya Regency. This MSME primarily depends on traditional marketing methods, such as direct delivery, workshop sales, and physical exhibitions. Although an Instagram presence exists, its utilization remains suboptimal. This Community Service Program (PPM) was enforced to enhance the partner's promotional skills and market expansion via Instagram. We employed a participatory-collaborative method, providing training and hands-on practice for Kendra Sutera’s management and artisans in creating relevant photo and video content. The intervention successfully increased participants' understanding of digital promotion and marketing, enabling the artisans to generate more engaging content for the platform. In conclusion, Instagram is an effective and efficient medium for promoting MSME products like woven fabrics, and sustainable mentoring is critical to ensure the consistent and relevant marketing of Kendra Sutera Sabilulungan's products moving forward.

Abstract

Banceuy Traditional Village is a traditional village in Subang Regency with rich cultural heritage and significant natural tourism potential. However, the community still faces various challenges in developing this potential, particularly in the relatively simple packaging of local products and the limited use of digital technology for marketing. This community service activity aims to increase community capacity through product packaging training and the implementation of an integrated digital platform, the Warisanbanceuy.com website, which can be used for product management, news, cultural events, homestays, and more. The results of the activity demonstrate that the community is able to create attractive and marketable product packaging and utilize the digital platform to expand marketing reach and promote culture. This technology implementation has resulted in increased community digital literacy and opened up new economic opportunities based on local potential.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation process of MSME digitalization through business mapping on Google Maps and evaluate its impact on improving market access in Ndokum Siroga Village. The approach used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which directly involved MSMEs, village officials, and students in the process of identifying obstacles, planning, training, and evaluation. Activities included publicizing the importance of digitalization, mentoring in the creation and management of Google Maps accounts, and managing digital content such as product photos and responses to customer reviews. The results indicate increased business visibility, customer interactions, and market expansion, which can boost the competitiveness of micro-enterprises in rural areas. However, challenges faced include a digital literacy gap and limited internet infrastructure, which require ongoing support from the village government and academics. This study demonstrates that the use of geolocation platforms such as Google Maps is an effective, low-cost, and sustainable strategy to support local economic development and strengthen MSME competitiveness in the digital era. It also makes a significant contribution to the sustainability of technology-based village economic development programs.

Abstract

The low reading interest among elementary school students has become one of the major challenges in improving basic literacy quality within the educational environment. To address this issue, the Literacy Corner program was introduced as an engaging and easily accessible facility for students to develop independent learning habits. This community service activity aims to optimize the function of the Literacy Corner at SDN Daon 3 as a medium that promotes self-directed learning and fosters reading habits from an early age. The implementation method employed a participatory approach, involving teachers and students in the process of providing reading materials, organizing the Literacy Corner space, and conducting training sessions on its effective use in learning activities. The program was carried out during the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata / KKN) at SDN Daon 3, Daon Subdistrict, Rajeg District, Tangerang Regency. The results of the activity indicated an increase in students’ reading interest, as reflected in the higher frequency of visits to the Literacy Corner and greater student engagement in independent reading activities. The tangible impact of this initiative was evident in the students’ growing enthusiasm for non-academic reading materials and the school’s positive support. The uniqueness of this program lies in its participatory concept, where students play an active role in managing and developing the book collection, thereby fostering a sense of ownership toward the Literacy Corner. Based on the outcomes of this community service, it is recommended that the school continue to develop literacy activities sustainably, with ongoing support from teachers, parents, and the surrounding community to ensure consistent growth of literacy culture.

Abstract

Desa Gendro di Kecamatan Tutur, Kabupaten Pasuruan merupakan sentra peternakan sapi perah dengan populasi lebih dari 3.000 ekor sapi. Namun produktivitas susu masih rendah akibat keterbatasan pakan berkualitas dan ketergantungan terhadap pakan konsentrat pabrikan. Kondisi tersebut diperparah oleh menurunnya ketersediaan hijauan saat musim kemarau dan belum tersedianya teknologi pengolahan pakan yang efisien. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan menguji awal mesin pakan ternak kering berbasis limbah pertanian lokal guna meningkatkan efisiensi penyediaan pakan dan produktivitas sapi perah. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi analisis situasi, perancangan, pembuatan, dan uji coba awal mesin dengan melibatkan kelompok peternak secara partisipatif. Mesin dirancang dengan tiga sistem utama, yaitu pencacah, pengering, dan pencampur, menggunakan motor penggerak 1 HP dan kapasitas produksi ±50 kg bahan basah per jam. Hasil uji coba awal menunjukkan bahwa mesin mampu menurunkan kadar air bahan pakan hingga 14–15% dan menghasilkan pakan homogen yang tahan simpan hingga satu bulan. Program ini meningkatkan keterampilan peternak dalam pengolahan pakan, memanfaatkan limbah pertanian, serta mendukung implementasi teknologi tepat guna menuju praktik peternakan berkelanjutan dan ekonomi sirkular di Desa Gendro.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to empower the youth organization (Karangtaruna) in Lau Village, Kudus Regency, through training on the production of local culture-based merchandise as an effort to preserve socio-cultural values and strengthen the local creative economy. The program adopted a community-based empowerment approach that emphasized the active participation of community members from the planning stage to evaluation. Sixteen youth members participated in various activities, including cultural conservation awareness sessions, participatory design and production training, digital marketing mentoring, and reflective discussions on sustainability. The results indicate significant improvement in participants’ awareness of cultural preservation, creative and entrepreneurial skills, and the emergence of local leaders who initiated collective business activities. The program successfully transformed the youth group from a passive community into an active, innovative, and self-reliant organization. At the national level, the activity supports the development of conservation-oriented character in line with the vision of Universitas Negeri Semarang as a conservation-minded university. At the global level, this initiative contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by promoting youth participation as agents of change and reinforcing cultural sustainability within global development frameworks.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed the operational paradigm of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including the culinary sector. However, most MSMEs still face limitations in adopting digital-based management systems. This study aims to implement a SWOT analysis-based digital transformation strategy through the development of a Managerial Innovation Module for the "ABA" Fried Tofu MSME in Malang City. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) model for three months. Mentoring is carried out through five main aspects: SWOT analysis, product innovation, digital marketing, human resource and financial management, and production waste management. The results show a significant increase in production efficiency, brand image strengthening, market expansion, and increased awareness of environmental sustainability. The implementation of the digital-based innovation module has proven effective in encouraging adaptive, sustainable, and competitive managerial transformation in the digital economy era.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) need to adapt to digital transformation in order to remain competitive amid changing modern consumer behavior. One strategy that can be applied is digital transformation through the use of marketing media that combine both offline and online methods. Kue Ali Kaum Lestari Bu Ina, a traditional culinary MSME in Purwakarta, still relies on word-of-mouth promotion and direct sales, resulting in slow market growth despite having a good local reputation. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Kue Ali Kaum Lestari Bu Ina regarding the importance of digital transformation strategies through optimizing social media to expand market reach and maintain customer loyalty. The initiative utilizes digital tools, human resources with digital content skills, and platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok and WhatsApp Business. The methods used are interviews and discussions as well as training and mentoring to guide business actors in creating business accounts and managing social media. The results show that the strategic use of social media can increase product visibility, and expand market reach.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Timbang Lawan Village, Hamlet VIII, focused on the digitalization of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by emphasizing business location mapping through the Google Maps platform. This program was motivated by the low market visibility and accessibility experienced by village MSMEs, primarily due to limitations in utilizing digital technology as a means of promotion and marketing. Through a series of intensive mentoring, the KKN team conducted outreach, training on the use of digital devices, and technical guidance in the process of creating and managing business location points on Google Maps. The implementation of this program not only helped MSMEs obtain easily accessible digital identities but also expanded their marketing reach by increasing the ease of consumers in finding business locations. Based on monitoring results, a significant increase in the level of digital visibility of several MSMEs was seen, as well as an increase in the number of consumer visits to registered business locations. In addition, MSMEs demonstrated increased understanding and independence in utilizing digital technology for their business development. This digitalization program through location mapping is expected to be the first step in encouraging sustainable digital transformation of village MSMEs, strengthening local competitiveness, and supporting more inclusive community economic growth.
