Abstract

This study aims to analyze the existence, socio-economic roles, and migration factors of the Chinese ethnic community in Sirenja District, Donggala Regency, during the period 1950–2000. The research employed a qualitative approach using historical research methods, including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and archival and local historical documentation. The findings reveal that the Chinese community played a significant role in local economic development through trading activities, goods distribution, and commercial relations with coastal communities. Social interaction between Chinese Indonesians and residents was relatively harmonious, supported by economic cooperation, social communication, and cultural adaptation. However, the Chinese community also maintained internal solidarity and kinship networks as part of their socio-economic survival strategy. The study further found that the migration of Chinese Indonesians from Sirenja during the late 1990s and early 2000s was influenced by declining local economic activity, changes in regional trade structures, and broader national socio-political conditions during the Reformasi era. This migration contributed to weakening commercial activity and reducing multicultural interaction within the district. This research contributes to the development of local historical studies, ethnic migration research, and discussions on multicultural societies in Indonesia, particularly concerning Chinese communities in the coastal areas of Central Sulawesi

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of a QR Code-based attendance system for congregational prayers in fostering a culture of discipline among students at a high school in West Kotawaringin Regency. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, the vice principal for student affairs, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and students, and were supported by observations and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the QR Code-based attendance system is capable of improving the effectiveness of student attendance tracking in a more accurate, transparent, and real-time manner. In addition to serving as an administrative tool, this system also contributes to enhancing student discipline, particularly in terms of punctuality, adherence to rules, and the development of a sense of responsibility. In the initial stages, student discipline was primarily influenced by digital monitoring, but it gradually evolved into a habit ingrained in daily life. The success of the program’s implementation is supported by the commitment of school leadership, teacher involvement in monitoring, and periodic evaluation of attendance data. The use of digital technology in school religious activities serves as an innovative strategy to strengthen school management and foster students’ disciplined character on an ongoing basis

Abstract

The Compilation of Islamic Law (Kompilasi Hukum Islam/KHI) is one of the most significant instruments in the development of Islamic law in Indonesia, particularly in the areas of marriage, inheritance, and waqf. Although it has served as the primary legal guideline for Religious Courts since its promulgation through Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 1991, the KHI continues to generate debates regarding its formal legitimacy, substantive provisions, and relevance to contemporary social developments. This study aims to critically examine the strengths, weaknesses, and reform directions of the KHI within the framework of Indonesia’s national legal system. The research employs a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data sources consist of primary legal materials, including the KHI and related regulations, as well as secondary materials such as books, journal articles, and previous scholarly studies. Data were analyzed through a normative assessment of the KHI’s legal position, functions, implementation, and challenges in Islamic family law practice. The findings indicate that the principal strength of the KHI lies in its ability to promote legal uniformity, simplify diverse fiqh opinions into operational legal provisions, and strengthen legal certainty within Religious Courts. However, the KHI also faces formal and substantive limitations, including its relatively weak legal status and its insufficient responsiveness to issues of gender justice, child protection, legal pluralism, and contemporary family dynamics. Therefore, KHI reform should be conducted through a participatory and maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah-based approach that emphasizes substantive justice and social responsiveness

Abstract

This study examines pesantren-based Islamic Religious Education learning strategies in strengthening students’ character at MTs Madrasatul Qur’an Tebuireng Jombang. The study aims to analyze the implementation of pesantren-based learning, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and examine its contribution to students’ moral and spiritual development. This research employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving school principals, Islamic Religious Education teachers, pesantren supervisors, and students. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that character strengthening is implemented through the integration of religious learning, worship habituation, Qur’anic recitation, congregational prayers, moral discipline, and teacher exemplification within students’ daily activities. The pesantren environment functions as a moral ecosystem that continuously reinforces Islamic values through collective educational culture. Supporting factors include strong religious traditions, teacher commitment, parental support, and structured pesantren regulations, while inhibiting factors involve students’ adaptation difficulties, diverse family backgrounds, and the influence of digital culture. The study concludes that pesantren-based learning strategies effectively strengthen students’ discipline, responsibility, honesty, independence, and spiritual awareness. This research contributes theoretically to Islamic education discourse by emphasizing the importance of integrating religious values, educational culture, and moral habituation within contemporary character education.

Abstract

The use of social media among elementary school students is no longer limited to communication, but has also become part of their daily entertainment and interaction. This study discusses how teachers at SDIT Nurul Hikmah Sidoarjo guide students in understanding digital literacy, especially in relation to TikTok, WhatsApp, and Roblox as a digital gaming platform with social interaction features. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants were 60 students from grade II and grade VI, along with four teachers who were actively involved in classroom learning and school digital activities. Field data showed that all students were familiar with the three platforms. In grade II, 17 students already used their own mobile phones, while in grade VI the number reached 23 students. Most students accessed digital media after school, during free time, or on holidays. Teacher guidance was carried out through classroom reminders, discussion of digital ethics, Islamic values, technology-based projects, and communication with parents. Several problems also appeared, such as reduced concentration, imitation of TikTok expressions, frequent talks about online games, and limited social interaction among some students. These findings show that digital literacy in elementary school needs continuous guidance from both teachers and parents.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the meaning of gender equality in Qur’anic Surah An-Nisā’ verse 32 through Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutical approach, particularly the concepts of distanciation, hermeneutics of suspicion, and appropriation. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical library research design. Primary sources include Surah An-Nisā’ verse 32, classical Qur’anic commentaries, contemporary tafsir works, and Paul Ricoeur’s major writings. The analysis was conducted through three stages: structural-linguistic analysis, deconstruction of patriarchal bias, and reconstruction of emancipatory meaning. The findings demonstrate that the verse's grammatical structure employs parallel active forms, iktasabū and iktasabna, which position both men and women as equal active agents. Patriarchal tendencies found in classical interpretations are influenced by socio-cultural ideologies of the exegetes rather than by the Qur’anic text itself. Through Ricoeur’s hermeneutics, the verse is understood as possessing a surplus of meaning that transcends its historical context and promotes justice, equality, and recognition of women’s existence. This study confirms that Ricoeur’s hermeneutics is highly relevant to contemporary Qur’anic interpretation, helping construct a more critical, humanistic, and emancipatory reading of gender issues

Abstract

The research examines the legal implications of the sale of inherited land conducted without the consent of all heirs, viewed from the perspectives of Islamic law and positive law in Indonesia. The issue arises from the frequent occurrence of unilateral transactions over jointly owned inheritance property, which often leads to disputes due to a lack of legal awareness and improper understanding of the status of undivided inheritance. This research is positioned as a normative-empirical legal study, aiming to analyze both legal norms and their implementation in society. The discussion is carried out through a comparative approach between Islamic law, which emphasizes principles of justice, maslahah, and mutual consent (ridha), and positive law, particularly the Civil Code and agrarian regulations, which require agreement among co-owners for valid legal transactions. The findings indicate that, under Islamic law, such transactions are considered fasid (defective) and potentially invalid due to the absence of full authority and consent, while under positive law, they may be declared null and void or voidable, and can give rise to civil liability, including compensation claims. Both legal systems fundamentally uphold the principle of joint ownership and the necessity of collective approval, thereby highlighting the importance of legal certainty and protection for all heirs. This study also underscores the need for greater legal awareness and stricter supervision in land transactions involving inherited property

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and reconstruct the essence of Islamic education based on the Qur’an, the Hadith, and the thought of classical and contemporary figures. Using a qualitative approach with a literature review method, primary data were obtained from the Qur’an, the Hadith, and authoritative works by Islamic educational figures, while secondary data were obtained from indexed journals and academic books. Data analysis employed content analysis (Krippendorff) and a comparative analysis between Ibn Taymiyyah and Munzir Hitami. The research results indicate that the essence of Islamic education is rooted in divine values aimed at shaping human beings as servants and vicegerents of Allah, through holistic development encompassing spiritual, intellectual, social, and moral dimensions. Surah Al-Bayyinah: 5 and Surah An-Nisa: 1 serve as the main pillars of the theological and epistemological foundations of Islamic education. A comparative analysis of Ibn Taymiyyah (epistemological-theocentric) and Munzir Hitami (teleological-anthropological) reveals common ground in rejecting the dichotomy between religious and secular knowledge, as well as an emphasis on the integration of spiritual, moral, and intellectual values. This integration of values is realized through three pillars: the integration of values (honesty, sincerity, loyalty), the integration of methods (scientific and contemplative), and the integration of goals (worldly and otherworldly happiness). Consequently, a reexamination of the essence of Islamic education is relevant to the development of an integrative education system that combines faith, knowledge, and technology in order to address the challenges of digital disruption and the global moral crisis.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth the implementation of strategic management in character education within Muslim families in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan. Using a qualitative case study research design, this study involved 13 parents of students at SIT (SDIT & SMPIT) as purposively selected key informants. Primary data were collected through structured interview techniques that explored parental vision, time organization, and supervisory functions at home. The data were then systematically analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings reveal that although parents place adab (Islamic manners and ethics) as the highest emotional and spiritual priority, in daily managerial practices their attention remains dominated by academic orientations that are technical and quantitative in nature. Furthermore, digital technology or gadgets were identified as the main disruptive variable as well as a competitor to parental authority, capable of distorting children’s moral values through the “hidden curriculum” embedded in social media. This study recommends the need for recalibrating family management functions by adopting the POAC framework (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling), which positions adab as the primary foundation and core value prior to intellectual achievement

Abstract

This study is in the field of educational management and focuses on the role of school leadership in improving students’ motivation to learn. The purpose of this research is to describe the strategies implemented by the principal of SMA Negeri 1 Moutong in enhancing students’ motivation to learn, as well as to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of these strategies. The selection of this topic is based on the importance of school leadership in creating an effective learning environment that can stimulate students’ enthusiasm and academic achievement. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students. This study hypothesizes that effective principal leadership strategies significantly increase students’ motivation to learn. The findings reveal that the principal applies several strategies, including providing direct motivation, supervising teaching and learning activities, encouraging innovative teaching methods, giving rewards to high-achieving students, and developing extracurricular activities in collaboration with parents. Supporting factors include teacher collaboration, parental involvement, and adequate school facilities, while inhibiting factors include low student awareness of the importance of education and uncontrolled social media use. The results of this study contribute to the development of educational leadership theory, particularly in strengthening the role of principals in motivating students. In conclusion, principal leadership strategies play a crucial role in enhancing students’ learning motivation and improving the overall quality of education in schools.
