Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model of integration of Islamic boarding school curriculum based on Islamic values and technology at Pesantren Sintesa Magetan, which combines religious learning and digital skills in one integrated education system. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, collecting data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, involving caregivers, teachers, and students. The results of the study indicate that the Pesantren Sintesa curriculum integrates tahfidz teaching, book studies, and digital skills such as digital marketing, web management, and multimedia simultaneously, with project-based learning facilitated by mentors. This model is effective in improving the technical, soft, and conceptual skills of students, as well as forming graduates who are ready to compete professionally without losing their Islamic identity. The challenges faced include differences in basic digital skills of students, limited infrastructure, and the need for competent teachers, which are overcome through intensive mentoring and the use of online teachers. This study recommends strengthening technology-based teacher training, developing a flexible curriculum that is adaptive to digital developments, and replicating this integration model in other Islamic boarding schools to produce a generation of Muslims who are globally competitive. These findings are expected to be the basis for the development of technology-based Islamic education in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

Teacher pedagogical competence in practice constitutes a key to the quality of madrasah graduates. Practicing needs to be integrated into the religious culture and the supported madrasah environment, as well as entrepreneurial leadership. The research objective is to describe quality teaching practices integrated with entrepreneurial leadership and religious cultures that lead to higher graduate quality. This research employed a mixed-methods approach. This study involved a 349-teacher proportional stratified random sample. Participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation are also employed to adopt a qualitative approach in describing each variable. Quantitative data were analyzed using path analysis to determine the contribution of each coefficient to the causal relationships among variables. Pedagogical competence exhibits the strongest and most significant influence on graduate quality, as indicated by its t-value. This research indicates that teacher pedagogical competences are integrated into the religious culture program as the basis of madrasah principles and polices. Madrasahs need to focus on teacher pedagogical skills, Islamic pedagogy, and integration of religious values into subject teaching. Principals must be visionary on curriculum integration, such as designing a holistic curriculum that blends general education with Islamic teachings, using local wisdom and religious culture as contextual learning tools, and promoting interdisciplinary approaches where Islamic values are embedded across subjects. Ultimately, transformative and visionary leadership in madrasahs is necessary to inspire religious commitment and academic rigor, facilitate innovation, and maintain the quality of madrasah graduates.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic values-based management of teaching and educational staff and its impact on improving student academic achievement. This study employed a qualitative approach, utilizing a field study design involving 15 informants, comprising study program heads, lecturers, educational staff, and students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations of academic activities, and reviews of performance documents and SOPs for human resource management, then analyzed using the Miles & Huberman interactive model. The results showed that the integration of Islamic values contributed significantly to improving student achievement, with the average GPA increasing from 3.50 to 3.83 and the on-time graduation rate increasing from 78% to 93% in the last four years. Recruitment based on value alignment, competency development that combines pedagogical and ethical dimensions, and performance evaluation with moral and academic indicators has a positive effect on student motivation and achievement. The field findings show that the value of shura fosters participatory leadership and collective accountability; amanah enhances the personal integrity of teaching staff; ihsan promotes a culture of quality and learning innovation; while itqan serves as the basis for work excellence and academic rigor. Analytically, this finding extends the theories of Value-Based Human Resource Management and Transformational Leadership by incorporating an Islamic spiritual dimension, which has been shown to influence organizational behavior and student learning outcomes. The novelty of this research lies in the empirical evidence that the integration of Islamic values into HRM functions at the study program level directly improves student achievement, and it presents a theoretical synthesis between modern educational management practices and Islamic spirituality that has previously been rarely empirically explored in the context of Islamic higher education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study develops a culturally grounded Islamic education management model tailored for the Muslim convert community of the Outer Baduy Tribe in Banten Province, Indonesia. The model is implemented through the Paket School program, which serves as an alternative pathway to formal education. By integrating Islamic values with local cultural principles such as honesty, cooperation, simplicity, and collective responsibility, the model ensures that Islamic teachings are accepted without causing cultural resistance. This research uses a qualitative case study approach, involving 35 key participants, including traditional leaders, Paket School educators, and community members from three main villages. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were analysed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the educational management system in the Outer Baduy community is flexible, participatory, and culturally relevant. The alignment of Islamic education with local customs through adaptive scheduling, the use of the local dialect in instruction, and community participation has proven effective in promoting both educational and behavioural outcomes. The success of the Paket School program in fostering Islamic identity and strengthening cultural values highlights the importance of integrating local wisdom into educational management. However, the study's focus on a single community and the short observation period limit the ability to generalise the findings. Future research should explore similar models in other indigenous communities, using longitudinal or mixed-methods approaches to gain deeper insights into the long-term effects of culturally grounded educational management. This research contributes to the development of inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable educational practices for marginalised and indigenous communities.

Abstract

Bullying in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) presents unique challenges requiring culturally appropriate intervention strategies. This study examines the effectiveness of a collaborative management model involving kyais (Islamic scholars), ustadz (teachers), and administrators in bullying prevention at Pondok Pesantren Kalimasada Jombang, Indonesia. A qualitative case study was conducted over six months using purposive and snowball sampling. Data were collected from fifteen informants through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data analysis employed Miles and Huberman's interactive model with triangulation. The collaborative management model demonstrated significant effectiveness through three integrated approaches: spiritual leadership by kyais, focusing on Islamic character building, operational implementation by ustadz through counseling and monitoring, and administrative coordination through policy development. The integration of restorative justice principles with Islamic values proved particularly effective in preventing bullying recurrence. Study limitations include a single-case design limiting generalizability and a six-month timeframe constraining long-term assessment. Practically, this model provides a replicable framework for Islamic educational institutions, offering specific role distribution guidelines while maintaining Islamic educational values. This Islamic-based collaborative approach offers a culturally appropriate alternative to conventional anti-bullying strategies.

Abstract

Competition among senior high schools in Indonesia is intensifying, thus encouraging Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN), as a state Islamic senior high school, to adopt more systematic, transparent, and accountable strategies to maintain institutional credibility and stakeholder engagement in an increasingly competitive educational environment. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of the 7P marketing mix: Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical Evidence in shaping competitive advantage in state Islamic senior high schools. This study used a quantitative, explanatory design and was conducted at one of the madrasas in Bogor Regency, West Java. Data were collected through a structured, validated questionnaire administered to 203 11th-grade students, who were the primary users of academic and non-academic services. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression to test the partial and simultaneous relationships between marketing mix dimensions and competitive advantage. The results show that the 7P marketing mix model simultaneously explains a significant proportion of the variance in competitive advantage (R² = 0.634). Although all 7P dimensions have a positive and significant relationship, Process, Physical Evidence, and Product emerged as the most dominant predictors. This finding confirms that competitive advantage in public Islamic senior high schools is determined not only by academic achievement, but also by the quality of governance, educational service systems, physical learning environments, curriculum coherence, and an organizational culture aligned with Islamic values. This study confirms the relevance of the 7P marketing mix as an effective managerial framework and recommends strengthening process-based governance, developing infrastructure, and integrating the curriculum to support institutional sustainability.
