Abstract

Teachers’ performance at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) in Aceh Barat Daya remains suboptimal, shows by low discipline, monotonous teaching practices, limited use of technology, inadequate supporting facilities, and an unconducive work environment. This condition is suspected to be influenced by the ineffective leadership of the madrasah principal and a less supportive work environment. This study aims to analyze the influence of the principal’s leadership and the work environment on teachers’ performance, both partially and simultaneously. A quantitative approach with an explanatory research method was employed. The research population consisted of all teachers from five MINs in Aceh Barat Daya, with a sample of 103 teachers selected using a random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation, and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with the assistance of SmartPLS version 4 software. The results revealed that the principal’s leadership had a positive and significant effect on teachers’ performance, with a path coefficient of 0.313. The work environment also had a positive and significant effect, with a path coefficient of 0.560. Simultaneously, the two variables contributed 64.1% to the improvement of teachers’ performance, while remaining percentage was influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. Effective, participatory, and communicative leadership, along with a comfortable and harmonious work environment, are key factors in enhancing teachers’ professionalism, creativity, and productivity in the madrasah. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for schools and policymakers in designing strategies to improve the quality of learning

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of diversification-based marketing strategies at Muhammadiyah Junior High School 8 Mijen Semarang to strengthen the institution's attractiveness and sustainability amidst the increasing competition in the private school sector. The research uses a qualitative case study approach with data triangulation through interviews, observations, and internal document reviews. The results show that although the school has developed flagship programs such as the Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS), the integration of the STEM curriculum, and bilingual classes supported by facilities such as national standard science laboratories and modern dormitories, the use of digital media for promotion is still very limited. A surprising finding emerged when the majority of prospective students learned about the school not through online media, but rather through word-of-mouth or by chance, indicating a systemic failure in the implementation of digital marketing strategies. Furthermore, the involvement of alumni and the community in school promotions is also minimal. The practical contribution of this research is the importance of transformation in school marketing management, including training the promotion team, integrating the use of big data into digital strategies, and activating alumni and community networks as promotional agents. This study confirms that excellent educational programs, without the support of an adaptive and optimal marketing system, will not be able to maximize their potential, causing the existing programs to remain relatively unknown and not maximally influencing prospective students' interest.

Abstract

Employee performance is a key factor in determining an organization's success. In several studies, the factors influencing employee performance are competence and leadership. Meanwhile, an equally important factor in strengthening the above variables is employee commitment. This study aims to investigate whether competence and leadership have a significant positive impact on employee performance, with commitment serving as an intervening variable. This research is quantitative. The sample in this study consisted of 52 respondents, who were selected using the snowball sampling technique. The data source was a questionnaire distributed randomly using Google Forms. The data analysis technique utilized the Smart-PLS 4.0 application, which comprises inferential statistical tests, model measurement, model design, hypothesis testing, and model evaluation. The results of the study show (1) directly, competence has a significant positive effect on employee performance with a p-value of 0.013<0.05, but does not affect commitment because the p-value is 0.336>0.05, (2) leadership has a direct significant positive effect on employee commitment and performance with a p-value of 0.001<0.05, (3) commitment has a direct significant positive effect on employee performance 0.001<0.05. Indirectly, commitment is unable to strengthen the competence variable in relation to employee performance, as indicated by a p-value of 0.361, which is greater than 0.05. At the same time, leadership can strengthen the leadership variable on employee performance with a p-value of 0.04<0.05. This study contributes to the development of management science, particularly in understanding the factors that influence employee performance. While the limitation of this study is that the sample is too small, future researchers can conduct further research by increasing the sample size. Research approaches can also be used with a variety of more varied approaches

Abstract

This study aims to examine the management of curriculum integration in pesantren-based vocational high schools (SMK) and evaluate its effectiveness in improving the quality of graduates. The research was conducted at SMK Khas Kempek Cirebon using a qualitative interpretive approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and curriculum documentation, with validation achieved through triangulation. Curriculum integration involved planning with input from the foundation as the primary stakeholder and the design of a pesantren-based learning program supported by a SWOT analysis of national education standards. The findings reveal that curriculum integration was systematically managed through a combination of general and religious instruction, supervised by the principal and the structural team. However, the evaluation conducted was still descriptive and lacked quantitative indicators to measure graduate improvement. Student participation in pesantren-based learning activities yielded positive results, with more than 70% of final-year students undertaking internships at pesantren-run institutions. Additionally, more than 80% of students demonstrated competencies in religious activities such as Quran memorization and funeral rites. This study was limited to a single institution, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings. The research did not investigate the long-term outcomes of curriculum integration or the impact of socio-cultural factors on student success. Future research could expand this study by including multiple pesantren-based SMKs to provide a broader perspective. This study recommends the development of a graduate-based evaluation system, continuous teacher training, and strengthening strategic collaboration between pesantren and SMKs in educational planning. The contribution of this study is to develop vocational education models that are more relevant to labor market needs while emphasizing moral and spiritual education.

Abstract

Increasing competition among educational institutions and the growing involvement of parents in educational services have encouraged schools to adopt more collaborative and value-oriented strategies. However, empirical evidence on how parental value co-creation behavior contributes to school image and parental loyalty, particularly in the context of basic education, remains limited. This study investigates the role of parental value co-creation behavior in shaping school image and fostering parental loyalty in elementary education. Drawing on service-dominant logic, an integrated conceptual framework is proposed in which parental value co-creation behavior influences parental loyalty both directly and indirectly through school image. Data were collected from parents of elementary school students in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. A total of 370 online questionnaires were distributed, with 170 valid responses analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that both parental participation behavior and parental citizenship behavior have a significant positive effect on school image. Furthermore, school image is found to positively influence parental loyalty and to mediate the relationship between value co-creation behavior and loyalty. These findings suggest that schools that actively encourage and facilitate parental involvement are able to create a supportive and collaborative educational environment, thereby strengthening institutional image and enhancing parental commitment. This study contributes to the limited literature on value co-creation in basic education by empirically demonstrating the mediating role of school image. Practically, the findings highlight the strategic importance of parental involvement as an educational marketing approach to improve school reputation and stimulate positive word-of-mouth. Future studies may involve other stakeholders and explore different regional contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the Tri-Centre Model in Tahfidz learning, which involves the collaboration between schools, families, and Tahfidz houses. The primary focus of this research is to understand how these three elements work together to improve students' Qur'anic memorisation achievements at SD Muhammadiyah Pati and SD IT Nur Madinah. This study employs a qualitative approach with a multi-case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving school principals, Tahfidz coordinators, Tahfidz teachers, parents, and Tahfidz house managers over a period of five months. The findings indicate that collaboration among schools, families, and Tahfidz houses has a positive impact on enhancing students' Qur'anic memorisation. At SD Muhammadiyah Pati, students meet the target of memorising one Juz per year, while at SD IT Nur Madinah, the target is 3–4 Juz. Parental involvement in muroja'ah (review) activities at home greatly supports the consistency of students' memorisation. However, challenges such as students’ time constraints and the lack of formal coordination among the educational elements need to be addressed to maximise the effectiveness of this model. This study contributes by providing insights into the importance of collaboration between schools, families, and Tahfidz houses in enhancing Tahfidz learning. However, this research is limited to two schools in Pati District, and its findings may not be fully generalizable. Recommendations for future research include expanding the sample size and employing quantitative methods to gather more comprehensive data, as well as exploring ways to enhance communication among the three educational elements.

Abstract

This article examines the limitations of conventional management control mechanisms, which tend to focus on structural and procedural controls. It proposes a holistic supervision model based on Islamic theology to align personnel work behavior with organizational goals in a more sustainable manner. This study aims to develop a comprehensive conceptual framework of supervision that integrates organizational supervision, transcendental supervision, and self-supervision as a unified control system. The research employs a qualitative approach through a systematic literature review, examining management books, national and international journal articles, as well as classical and contemporary Islamic theology literature obtained from Google Scholar, Dimensions, DOAJ, and the SINTA portal. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques in a critical paradigm to identify patterns of relationships between formal control mechanisms and individual spiritual awareness. The results of the study show that supervision based solely on organizational structure tends to produce formalistic and situational compliance. Conversely, the integration of transcendental supervision, based on the belief in Allah SWT's supervision and eschatological accountability, with faith-based self-supervision has proven to be the most effective foundation for shaping integrity, honesty, and consistency in work behavior. Organizational supervision functions optimally when positioned as a complement that supports individual internal control. This study recommends a paradigm shift in leadership from coercive supervision to the cultivation and internalization of spiritual awareness, thereby building an effective, ethical, and sustainable management control system, particularly in the context of Islamic education management.

Abstract

Inclusive education management aims to ensure equitable access to learning for all students, including those with special needs. Despite broad policy support, implementation remains uneven across contexts, including Indonesia. Common barriers include constrained resources, insufficient teacher preparation, cultural resistance, and high teacher workloads. This study conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) to synthesize recent evidence on practices, challenges, and solutions. The analysis identifies effective practices such as comprehensive teacher professional development, provision of disability-friendly facilities, and sustained collaboration among schools, families, and communities. Persistent constraints include budget limitations, inadequate psychosocial support, and social stigma that hinders the inclusion of students with special needs in mainstream classrooms. To organize actionable responses, the review integrates management perspectives from Total Quality Management, distributed leadership, and change theory, providing a structured pathway for improvement. Based on these insights, the paper recommends strengthening inclusive education policies, leveraging educational technologies, and implementing public awareness initiatives to build acceptance. Overall, the findings highlight the need for coordinated, long-term commitments by governments, schools, and communities to achieve a fair and inclusive education system.
