Abstract

English has become an elective subject in Elementary Schools (SD) but not all schools are able to organize it since they do not have English teachers. Responding to this, this community service activity was carried out with the aim of introducing English vocabularies to students of SD Inpres Bertingkat Tabaringan I, Makassar City using interesting teaching media in the form of comics. This activity was carried out in the form of additional courses outside of school hours which were held for 10 meetings and followed by students in grades III and IV. The media used in teaching English vocabulary was in the form of power points using comic characters that children like. During the activity, students looked enthusiastic and very excited to participate in this activity because there were comic characters presented together with the English vocabulary being taught. This proves that the main purpose of using comic media in teaching English vocabulary was successful and the majority of course participants were also able to pronounce and memorize new vocabularies given by the instructor

Abstract

Strengthening the economic potential of rural areas is one of the government's village empowerment programs. However, it is known that there are still problems related to the low competitiveness of rural areas, both in terms of human resources and the ability to produce commodities with added value. The Sokkolia Village Government, young people, and community leaders play a crucial role in boosting the resilience of rural communities. The tripartite cooperation model of Bumdes, Industry, and Campus is expected to address these two problems. The Campus can help in conducting research on potential and formulating innovative designs, while Industry can assist in terms of technology and market access. This training aims to help equip the Sokkolia Village community with entrepreneurial literacy and digital literacy to optimize the potential of the village and local economic growth. Empowering the community through entrepreneurship and digital literacy is expected to create an ecosystem that supports local economic growth and contributes positively to sustainable development at the village level. The training that has been conducted shows high levels of participation and motivation among partners. Based on the results of the training, partners' understanding of entrepreneurship and digital literacy has increased. This is expected to make Sokkolia Village partners adaptable and able to utilize digital technology to improve their overall well-being.

Abstract

This study discusses the importance of scheduling in construction projects, particularly the application of the Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) and the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) to enhance time efficiency and identify critical activities. Project scheduling is a key element that ensures the project progresses according to plan and is completed on time. PDM serves to illustrate the sequence and interrelationships between activities through node representation, allowing the identification of the critical path. Meanwhile, PERT uses a probabilistic approach with three time estimates to anticipate variations and uncertainties in activity durations. A case study of a health center construction project in Banteang Regency demonstrates that the application of PDM and PERT, compared to the S-curve method, can optimize resource allocation, minimize the risk of delays, and ensure scheduling efficiency. With the support of software like Microsoft Project, the implementation of these two methods is expected to improve project control and ensure timely completion.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' literacy skills at Sekolah Pustaka Lontara through interactive literacy-based learning. The issue of low reading interest and literacy comprehension among students has prompted the need for more effective and enjoyable teaching methods. The interactive learning implemented includes activities such as group reading, group discussions, and educational games designed to stimulate interest and reading skills. The research uses a qualitative approach with techniques such as observation, interviews, and analysis of students' learning outcomes. The results show a significant improvement in students' literacy comprehension, reflected in literacy test results and student responses to reading activities. The use of interactive learning also encourages students to be more actively engaged and enjoy the learning process. This program demonstrates that an interactive approach can be an effective solution to enhancing literacy skills in schools facing challenges related to resources and student interest. The study recommends integrating interactive methods into the curriculum to achieve more optimal literacy outcomes.

Abstract

Village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) are institutions established to manage economic potential and resources in the village to improve community welfare. In Kassi Village, Jeneponto Regency, BUMDes has significant potential in developing the agricultural sector, but this potential has not been fully utilized. This research aims to increase the added value of the agricultural sector through strengthening the capacity of BUMDes by utilizing digital technology. The application of e-commerce, digital marketing, and data management is expected to expand market access for local products and improve their competitiveness. The methods used include identification of training needs, ongoing mentoring, and monitoring and evaluation of the BUMDes digitalization process. The program results show an increase in operational efficiency and expansion of marketing networks, as well as an increase in the added value of agricultural and tourism products. Analysis shows that the training on sustainable agriculture and basic technology has had a significant impact on improving participants' knowledge and skills, as evidenced by the increase in average pretest to posttest scores. The high correlation between the initial and final scores indicates that the training was effective for all participants. This digital transformation through BUMDes has the potential to become a model for other villages in Indonesia, making digital economic empowerment a strategic solution to improve the welfare of rural communities in an inclusive and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to utilize candlenut shell waste as additional aggregate in the manufacture of pressed bricks, providing an innovative solution for waste management while supporting sustainable development. Candlenut shell waste, which is abundant but often thrown away, is processed into environmentally friendly construction materials. Training was provided to brick craftsmen in Makassar to introduce new methods that can improve the quality and mechanical strength of bricks, including compressive strength and thermal insulation properties. The training activities lasted for six months, covering the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. Participants were trained on how to mix candlenut shell waste with other raw materials, molding techniques, and the curing process to ensure product quality. As a result, candlenut shell-based bricks have a lighter weight and competitive quality compared to conventional bricks, while providing ecological benefits by reducing the environmental footprint. The positive response from the community shows great potential for further development, including product variations and business opportunities based on this innovation. With continued support, this program not only improves community skills but also encourages collaboration to create real social and economic impacts, making waste management part of the green development solution
