Abstract

The Cianjur earthquake on November 21, 2022, caused severe psychological impacts, particularly among adolescents who experienced significant loss or direct exposure to the disaster. This study aimed to analyze the prevalence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD), and to examine their respective effects on the mental health of adolescent disaster survivors. The research employed a descriptive and correlational quantitative design using a survey approach. A total of 551 adolescents aged 13–17 were selected through purposive sampling based on their exposure to the disaster’s impact. Three instruments were used to collect data: the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) to assess post-disaster trauma symptoms; the PGD-13-R to measure prolonged grief severity; and the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) to evaluate emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlations, and multiple linear regression. Results showed that 18.5% of respondents met the criteria for PTSD and 6.9% for PGD. Regression analysis indicated that PTSD had a significant negative impact on mental health (β = –0.250; p < 0.001), while PGD was not a significant predictor (β = 0.046; p = 0.312). These findings suggest that post-disaster trauma contributes more substantially to mental health deterioration than prolonged grief. Therefore, evidence-based interventions such as Ego State Therapy are recommended to address PTSD symptoms effectively among adolescents affected by the earthquake.

Abstract

This study analyzed legal uncertainty in the use of e-Faktur as electronic evidence in tax crimes, especially related to weak normative regulations and the absence of standard digital evidentiary standards in the Indonesian criminal justice system. The main problem studied was the lack of explicit recognition of electronic documents, including e-Faktur, as stand-alone evidence in the Criminal Code, and the absence of a distinguishing mechanism between technical administrative errors and deliberate criminal violations. This study used a normative juridical approach with an analysis of national laws and regulations, legal doctrine, and case studies, and is combined with a comparative approach through a comparison of e-Faktur proving practices in Italy, Peru, Rwanda, and the Peppol system. The results of the study found that positive legal regulations in Indonesia are not adaptive to the complexity of digital proof, thus creating a risk of criminalization of taxpayers who commit technical errors without malicious intent. The findings also showed that there are no technical guidelines for forensic examination of e-Faktur that are in accordance with international standards, as well as the lack of discretion of judges in considering aspects of substantive justice in digital taxation cases. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of revising the Criminal Code to include electronic evidence as legal evidence, the preparation of special regulations regarding electronic evidence in tax cases, and the development of technical guidelines for law enforcement officials related to digital forensics and the principle of prudence in handling cases. The novelty aspect of this study lies in the integration of substantive justice perspectives and transcendental approaches in the proof of digital law, as well as the use of international comparative models that have not been widely adopted in previous studies. The final conclusion of this study is that proving e-Faktur requires a legal reformulation that is more accommodating to technological developments and human values, in order to realize a fair, proportional, and substantive digital criminal justice system.

Abstract

This qualitative literature review explores the intersection of the history of Islamic education and the digital identity of Minangkabau adolescents, with a particular focus on their use of social media. Islamic education has long been a cornerstone of cultural and social identity in Minangkabau society, deeply influencing the moral, religious, and social values of its people. Over time, the integration of modern technological platforms, particularly social media, has significantly transformed how Minangkabau adolescents engage with their cultural heritage and religious education. This study applies an anthropological lens to understand how these adolescents navigate their digital identities, balancing traditional Islamic values with contemporary digital influences. By reviewing existing literature on Islamic education, digital culture, and identity formation, this research highlights the challenges and opportunities faced by young Minangkabau in maintaining cultural authenticity while participating in globalized online spaces. The findings underscore the dual role of social media as both a platform for cultural expression and a space for generational tension, where traditional values often clash with modern, global digital trends. This study aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the evolving relationship between cultural heritage, religious education, and the digital world for indigenous adolescents, offering insights into the broader impacts of digitalization on youth identity formation in post-colonial, Muslim-majority societies.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of family support, school environment, and coping strategies on the self-identity development of cadets in government-affiliate school. A quantitative approach with an explanatory design and survey method was used, involving 331 cadet respondents from levels I and II, aged 18 to 21, at a vocational school under the Ministry of Transportation. The instrument used was a standardized questionnaire to measure the variables of family support, school environment, coping strategies, and the self-identity development. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results of the study indicate that family support, school environment, and coping strategies have a significant positive effect on the self-identity development. Family support plays a crucial role in personal development and future planning, while a supportive school environment, characterized by positive relationships between teachers and peers, accelerates the self-identity development. Furthermore, effective coping strategies assist in managing stress and life challenges more effectively. These findings emphasize the importance of family support, school environment, and coping strategies in supporting the personal development of cadets in government-affiliate school. The implications of this study suggest that the government should support inclusive educational policies, train teachers to address the emotional and social needs of cadets, and encourage further research on coping strategies and mental health in the context of vocational education.

Abstract

Student engagement plays a pivotal role in academic success. This study aims to examine the effects of counseling satisfaction (SAT), school climate (SC), Islamic religiosity (REL), and parental involvement (PI) on students’ grit and motivation (MOT), and to assess their indirect effects on SE through grit and MOT. The sample consisted of 338 (F = 214, M = 124) high school students from South Kalimantan, Indonesia, including 205 students from general high schools and 133 from Islamic high schools. The sample was selected using a convenience sampling technique.  The data analysis method used in this study was Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM).  The findings indicated that all exogenous variables significantly influence grit and MOT, except for the non-significant effects of SAT on MOT and SC on grit. Grit and MOT significantly mediated the effects of exogenous variables on student engagement. However, grit did not mediate the impact of SC, and motivation did not mediate the effect of SAT. PI significantly enhances student grit, which in turn strongly predicts SE, highlighting its key mediating role. However, the sampling technique used may have introduced potential bias and limited the generalizability of our findings. These findings suggest that school counseling programs should also focus on enhancing parental awareness and involvement in their children's education.

Abstract

Cognitive abilities such as memory and concentration are essential for early childhood development, influencing academic readiness and social adjustment. However, many children face challenges in sustaining attention and retaining information, and existing intervention methods often lack integration and movement-based engagement. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a combined Brain Gym intervention—Cross Crawl and The Owl exercises on improving memory and concentration in early childhood. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups was employed, involving 60 children aged 4–6 years from Skoebi-Do Child Care Centre, Bali. Participants were randomly assigned to an experimental group (receiving both Cross Crawl and The Owl techniques) and a control group (receiving only Cross Crawl). Data were collected using structured observation instruments, which had been validated and tested for reliability to ensure accurate measurement of cognitive outcomes. The findings demonstrated significant improvements in memory and concentration among children in the experimental group compared to the control group. These results indicate that integrative Brain Gym interventions are more effective in stimulating core cognitive functions during early childhood. This study contributes to the growing evidence supporting movement-based educational strategies as a practical and accessible approach for enhancing cognitive development in early learners.
