Abstract

Despite the rapid expansion of research on computational thinking (CT) and artificial intelligence (AI) in education, evidence on their comparative effects on students' problem-solving skills remains fragmented and inconsistent, underscoring the need for a systematic quantitative synthesis. This study conducted a systematic meta-analysis to examine and compare the effects of CT-based and AI-based instructional interventions on students' problem-solving performance. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines, twenty-four empirical studies published between 2017 and 2025 were analyzed using a three-level random-effects meta-analytic model to account for within-study dependencies and heterogeneity. The results showed that CT-based instruction produced a statistically significant and consistent positive effect on problem-solving skills (pooled effect size = 0.30, p < 0.001), indicating high stability across educational contexts. AI-based instructional interventions yielded a larger pooled effect size (0.46, p < 0.001), although greater variability was observed across instructional designs and contexts. These findings suggest that CT strengthens analytical reasoning and systematic problem-solving processes, whereas AI enhances adaptive and reflective thinking through personalized learning support. The study contributes theoretically by clarifying the complementary roles of CT and AI in problem-solving development and practically by providing evidence-based guidance for designing effective technology-enhanced learning environments.

Abstract

Abstract

The transformation of global education towards e-learning poses challenges to students' motivation and self-efficacy, impacting inequalities in academic achievement. A number of studies indicate that the relationship between motivation, self-confidence, and achievement remains complex and warrants further investigation. This study conducted a meta-analysis to assess the strength of the relationship between motivation, self-efficacy, and academic achievement in the context of digital learning. By analyzing 52  recent studies (2004–2025), we used a randomized effects model to account for heterogeneity between studies. The correlation coefficient reported in each study was converted to Fisher's Z to normalize the distribution of effects. Subsequently, the meta-analytic SEM was performed to test the self-efficacy mediation model. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the combined correlation between motivation and self-efficacy (r = 0.52) and motivation and academic achievement (r = 0.44) exhibited a moderate to strong ffect. The meta- structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis confirmed that self-efficacy mediates a partial influence of motivation on Academic Achievement (β indirect = 0.355, 36% of the total influence). Theoretically, these results strengthen social cognitive theory (Bandura) and self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan) in the field of e-learning. Practically, the results suggest that teachers and institutions should develop interventions that increase students' intrinsic motivation and self-confidence (e.g., through autonomy-supporting learning) and support educational policies that incorporate non-cognitive psychological indicators into the curriculum. This study provides a more accurate estimate of average effects and supports the development of the theory and practice of digital education based on cross-cultural evidence.

Abstract

This study empirically examines the causal relationships among Emerging Markets Logistics (EML), Dynamic Logistics Cluster Capabilities (DLCC), Logistics Collaboration Strategy (LCS), Virtual Co-Creation Innovation Program (VCCIP), Value Added Logistics Implementation (VALI), and Logistics Competitiveness Performance (LCP) within logistics clusters in Indonesia. Using a cross-sectional, non-experimental survey design, data were collected from 188 logistics firms operating at the organizational level and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with a hierarchical component approach. Measurement reliability, convergent and discriminant validity, and structural model adequacy were all confirmed. The results show that EML and DLCC have positive and significant direct effects on LCP, while LCS strengthens the impact of market dynamics on competitiveness. However, collaboration alone does not directly generate virtual innovation. VCCIP plays a critical mediating role by transforming dynamic cluster capabilities into value-added logistics services, which in turn significantly enhance competitiveness. The findings reveal two distinct causal pathways: an efficiency-driven pathway through collaboration and an innovation-driven value creation pathway through virtual co-creation and value-added logistics. These results contribute empirically to dynamic capability theory by clarifying the mechanisms through which cluster-based capabilities and virtual co-creation jointly drive logistics competitiveness in an emerging market context.

Abstract

This systematic review critically synthesizes 30 empirical studies to evaluate the cognitive consequences of Al-Qur'an memorization (hifdh), addressing a significant gap in differentiating between domain-specific memory gains and broader cognitive enhancement. Utilizing a rigorous selection process from the Semantic Scholar corpus, the study examines the impact on core memory functions, the potential for transfer to academic and executive domains, and the efficacy of various pedagogical interventions. The results demonstrate compelling evidence for "near transfer," where intensive memorization reliably enhances short-term, episodic, and verbal memory. However, the evidence for "far transfer" to general intelligence or non-memory domains remains mixed; while quasi-experimental studies suggest positive academic correlations, methodologically robust controlled trials indicate that these skills are highly domain-bound. The review also highlights that structured, technology-assisted pedagogical methods significantly outperform traditional rote approaches. A key novelty of this work is the identification of a "reverse replication crisis," revealing that the field is characterized by methodological homogeneity and geographical concentration, primarily in Indonesia, which may inflate positive findings. These insights offer vital practical implications, suggesting that while educators can leverage hifdh for specific memory training, they should exercise caution regarding claims of general cognitive improvement. Ultimately, this study contributes a nuanced framework for understanding religious memorization practices, advocating for a shift toward randomized controlled trials to establish clearer causal links in educational neuroscience.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the management strategy of surau as a traditional Islamic educational institution that still exists and is even able to surpass modern Islamic schools in various dimensions of educational management. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and field research method, this research was conducted in three representative locations in Kampar Regency Bangkinang (urban), Gadang Island (border area), and Simalinyang (rural). The data was obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving ustaz, community leaders (ninik mamak), and village government officials as the main sources. Data analysis is phenomenologically conducted through the process of reduction, categorization, and interpretation of social significance to find a form of strategy for managing surau amid the current modernization of Islamic education. Research results show that surau has eight main strategies that are its managerial advantages. First, the emotional and social closeness between the management of the surau and the community that strengthens the sense of belonging and collective trust. Second, the flexibility of the management and learning system that allows adjustment to the social and economic needs of the community. Third, the integration of local spiritual, social, and cultural values into all educational activities. Fourth, accessibility and affordable education costs, make the surau inclusive for all levels of society. Fifth, an active role in the formation of the character and spirituality of students through exemplary practice and worship habitation. Sixth, the ability to adapt to modernization, including the use of digital media and simple administrative systems. Seventh, people's collective participation in institutional management, which strengthens the social and economic sustainability of the surau. Eighth, the charismatic and transformational leadership of my lords and ustaz, who inspired and encouraged the community to achieve common goals. The results of this study confirm that the power of surau lies in the ability to combine traditional values with modern management practices, forming relevant, adaptive, and community-based hybrid management models. With this strategy, surau is able to offer more humanistic, inclusive, and contextual Islamic education alternatives than modern formal educational institutions. These findings contribute conceptually to the development of value-based and community-based Islamic education management in the face of the challenges of globalization.

Abstract

Abstract

This systematic review synthesizes recent empirical evidence on how the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and its extensions explain technology-based self-directed learning (SDL), with particular attention to the roles of technological self-efficacy, attitude, and key psychological mediators. Unlike prior TAM-based reviews that primarily focus on technology adoption or usage intention, this review specifically integrates SDL as a learning outcome and maps the psychological mechanisms that bridge technology acceptance and autonomous learning behaviour. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, sixteen quantitative and mixed-method empirical studies published between 2020 and 2025 were systematically selected and analyzed. The review focused on studies applying TAM or extended TAM frameworks in educational contexts, including e-learning systems, AI-based tools, online tutoring, and simulation-based learning. The synthesis reveals a consistent pattern across contexts: perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use indirectly influence SDL primarily through attitude and technological self-efficacy rather than through direct pathways. Technological self-efficacy emerges as the most robust and consistent predictor, exerting both direct effects on SDL and indirect effects via mediators such as learning motivation, positive emotions, and reduced technology-related anxiety, particularly in AI-supported learning environments. These relationships are observed across higher education, secondary education, and professional training settings, with most evidence originating from Asian contexts. This review advances TAM-based scholarship by clarifying SDL as a distinct educational outcome and by consolidating psychological mediation pathways that explain how technology acceptance translates into sustained autonomous learning. The findings highlight the importance of designing educational interventions that strengthen technological self-efficacy and supportive affective conditions to promote effective and equitable technology-enhanced self-directed learning.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines empirical research on the integration of the 5E Instructional Model and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in relation to students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills. Using an analytical thematic synthesis approach, 21 peer-reviewed empirical studies published between 2014 and 2025 were systematically selected and analyzed following PRISMA guidelines. The review identifies recurring patterns of pedagogical alignment between inquiry-based learning phases and problem-solving processes, as well as variations in reported learning outcomes across methodological designs. The findings indicate that integrated 5E-PBL implementations are consistently associated with positive trends in critical thinking and collaboration; however, the strength of evidence varies considerably depending on research design, measurement instruments, and contextual factors. Quantitative studies generally report statistically significant but moderate effects, while qualitative studies emphasize process-oriented learning gains. Importantly, the synthesis avoids causal claims and instead highlights associative instructional tendencies. This review provides the first structured mapping of pedagogical alignment between the 5E inquiry cycle and PBL stages to support higher-order and collaboration skills, offering a clarified conceptual foundation for future theory development and empirical investigation.

Abstract

Halal awareness leads a key role in shaping health-related decision making among Muslim. As Muslims are obliged to consume halal products, concerns regarding halal status may influence their intention to accept vaccines and pharmaceutical drugs. The study aim is to assess the acceptance of halal vaccines and drugs based on the level of halal awareness among DKI Jakarta residents by halal knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. This cross-sectional was conducted among 400 respondents. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses, with Spearman’s rho employed to assess correlations between variables. The results showed that the level of knowledge was moderate (59.5%), for attitude was categorized as positive (84.5%), and behavior was low (44.5%). As for the correlation results with the Spearman rho test, it was concluded that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude, the result was a p-value of 0.016 (P<0.05) from a negative value of r= -0.121, while between the level of knowledge and behavior the relationship was a p-value of 0.001 (P<0.05 ) from a value of r = 0.289, and between attitudes and behavior there is a relationship as the variable value showed of p-value 0.036 (P<0.05) from a negative value of r = -0.105. These findings indicate that halal awareness significantly influences intention and acceptance behavior toward halal vaccines and drugs.
