Abstract

This research aims to determine the extent of multimedia interactive learning remote sensing effect on student learning outcomes in MAN I Malang. Using a quasi experimental study using a non equivalent control group design, this design only in the experimental group and the control group was not chosen at random. The samples were all students of class XII IPS MAN I Malang. The research instrument used was a test. The analysis technique used is the t-test and Cohen'sd Online Calculator for the effectiveness of the use of multimedia in teaching. The results showed that the use of interactive learning multimedia remote sensing effect on learning outcomes, where the results obtained in the experimental class, the mean standard deviation of 74.24 with 7.267 greater than the control class that has a mean 60.21 with a standard deviation of 9.955. Results gain score showed the difference between pretest and posttest values obtained in experimental classes with an average yield gain score of = 0.7 are included in the high category. While the calculations produced 1,610 Cohen'sd online calculator which is regarded as a relatively large effect size, then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. It means that there is a significant influence on the use of remote sensing multimedia interactive learning on learning outcomes in MAN I Malang.

Abstract

Preparing a counselor candidate as a reflective practitioner is essential. This can be completed through practicing creative thinking skill in a learning activity. In this case, various learning activities are available for practicing creative thinking skill, one of which is analogy model. Analogy model is conducted through Class Action Research of which purpose is to improve both counseling learning process and practice with the guide of the learning scenarios. The data obtained is then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result shows that analogy model can help the counselor candidate to develop his creative thinking skill.

Abstract

The Ignatian Pedagogy Paradigm is an art of thinking and doing something thoughtfully that incorporate humanistic values into learning subjects consciously. This paradigm endorses meaning of each topic within in learning materials based on students’ own experience. Students take into their consciousness life values (Reflective Moment) with\in learning materials by themselves or by their groups in order that they can practice it in daily life (Action). Researcher elaborates action research method for resolving learning problems within Fifth Grade (second group) of Kanisius Elementary School Students of Sengkan Yogyakarta during natural sciences class. Researcher implements Ignatian Pedagogy Paradigm within the method. The research follows the guidance prepared by Bruce W. Tuckman and Brian E. Happer (2012). First cycle shows that mean value is 13,85 for students learning outcomes. Second cycle shows that mean value is 15,03 for students learning outcomes. The average difference between the first cycle and the second is 1,175. It says that learning outcomes of the first cycle is lower than the second; and of the second cycle is higher than the first. Value of “t” Test by counting is 2,466; and Value of “t” Test according to the statistic table is 2,000 with 0,016 score of probability and by 0,05 significant level. The research shows that the value of “t” Test by counting is higher than value of “t” Test according the statistic table. It means that implementation Ignatian Pedagogy in natural sciences subject improves study results of Fifth Grade (Second Group) of Kanisius Elementary School Students of Sengkan Yogyakarta. First cycle shows that mean value is 108,23 for students learning motivation. Second cycle shows that mean value is 116,05 for students learning motivation. The value difference between the first and the second is 7,825. It says that learning motivation of the first cycle is lower than the second; and of the second cycle is higher than the first. Value of “t” Test by counting is 2,572; and Value of “t” Test according to the statistic table is 2,000 with 0,012 score of probability and by 0,05 significant level. The research shows that the value of “t” Test by counting is higher than value of “t” Test according the statistic table. It means that the implementation of Ignatian Pedagogy in natural sciences subject improves learning motivation of Fifth Grade (Second Group) of Kanisius Elementary School Students of Sengkan Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the empirical findings on the effect of the learning model (Project Based Learning and Training Within Industry), and the initial ability, both individually or interaction towards learning outcomes such as knowledge, skills and attitudes in Mechanical Machining Milling subjects. This quasi-experimental research using non-equivalent control group design version 2 x 2 factorial. Study subject involving 59 students of class XI Mechanical Machining. Data obtained with the test and non-test, then analyzed with a statistical technique MANOVA. In broad outline the results of this study indicate that the learning outcomes of knowledge can be improved if teachers apply PjBL to students who have high initial ability, skills can be improved if teachers apply PjBL and TWI model to students who have high initial ability, attitude can be improved if teachers apply both learning models, either PjBL or TWI to students who have high and low initial ability.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to investigate: 1) The effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL), Reading Questioning and Answering (RQA), and PBL integrated with RQA learning (PBL+RQA) on students’ characters, 2) The effects of gender on students' characters, and 3) the effect of the interaction between learning strategies and gender on students’ characters. The population of this research was all the tenth grade students of state senior high schools in Malang. The results showed that 1) There was not any effect of biology learning strategies on the students’ characters. 2) There was an effect of gender on the students’ characters. The average of the characters of the female students was 2,81% higher than that of the male students. 3) There was no interaction effect of learning strategy and gender on the students’ characters.

Abstract

This research aimed at investigating: 1) the effect of Reading Questioning and Answering (RQA), Think Pair Share (TPS), and RQA combined with TPS learning on the students’ metacognitive skills and characters, 2) the effect of gender on students’ metacognitive skills, and 3) the effect of interaction between learning strategy and gender on students' metacognitive skills. The research design used was pretest posttest nonequivalent control group design. The population of this research was all students of grade X State Senior High School (SSHS) Malang. The samples of this research were students of class X-1 SSHS 8 Malang, classes X-6 and X-7 SSHS 5 Malang as the experimental groups and class X-3 SSHS 8 Malang as the control group. Research results showed that RQA combined with TPS learning had the potential to empower students’ metacognitive skills 17.72% higher than that of conventional learning but it was not significantly different from RQA and TPS learning. The metacognitive skills of the female students were 7.12% higher than that of the male students. The interaction of the learning strategy and gender did not have significant effect on the metacognitive skills of students.

Abstract

The interaction between genetic and environmental factors in determining the characters of living organism is one of the main concepts in biology nowadays, and it becomes one of the main topic that students learn in genetics lecture. However, the observation result showed that regulation of gene expression in eukaryotes was considered to be a quite difficult topic for the students. The utilization of Drosophila melanogaster through practical activities can be used as an instructional media to help students understand the effect of environmental factors on the characters of living organism. This research aims to prove that through the crossbreeding of D. melanogaster for several generations, the effect of environmental factors on the characters of living organism can be observed. In this research, three strains of D. melanogaster were used to reveal the effect of dark environment on fecundity, which is one of the determinant factors of fitness in insects. The results showed that D. melanogaster treated in dark condition had lower fecundity than that in the control condition. The results of the comparison among the strains also showed that the strains of wild-type had higher fecundity than the white eyed color and ebony strains. The interaction between light conditions and generation and the interaction between light, strains, and generation also had an effect on the fecundity.

Abstract

This research aim is to show the effect of high temperature (30°C) on the expression of *D. melanogaster* traits and its use for learning resource in genetics lecture. This research was conducted in experimental design. Research result showed that high temperature could affect the fecundity and developmental time of *D. melanogaster* strains, including wildtype, white, and ebony. This result can be used as learning resource in genetics lecture, particularly in the basic competence 7.1: understanding regulation of gene expression in eukaryotes; and basic competence 13.1: understanding the application of some genetics theory through project research.
