Abstract

This case study explored pre-service English teachers’ experiences in peer review activities in second language (L2) writing class through secondary data analysis of the participants’ final reflections and peer review documents. The present study used secondary qualitative document analysis as the method. It used two types of secondary data. The study found that learners were still unconfident in giving feedback on grammar and considered assessing peers’ works objectively tricky. However, conducting peer review compelled them to study independently and facilitated them to realise their mistakes. Learners realised the importance of giving clear and accurate feedback but at times struggled to do so due to limited ability. The findings showing learners’ repeated concerns on grammatical aspects in their reflections whilst the peer review activities also included organisation and coherence aspects may indicate that learners prioritised accuracy more than organisation of ideas.  Furthermore, several learners appreciated their peers' feedback regardless of quality as a part of learning. It is suggested that peer reviewing is conducted regularly to facilitate learners to learn from each other and to conduct studies on the extent the peer reviewers’ feedback is used to improve the reviewees’ writing.

Abstract

Microteaching focuses on student collaboration efforts to improve teaching skills. Teaching skills are essential for prospective teachers. However, problems still arise because all members are not committed to supporting teaching skills as the ultimate goal of micro-teaching learning. This study aimed to examine differences in the teaching skills of prospective physical education teachers based on group learning. Commitment. This study uses a comparative quantitative design method. The sample involved is 41 students who are programming micro-teaching courses. Skills data were collected using observation guidelines and group learning commitment data using the Organizational Commitment Scale. The techniques used for data analysis are qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative and inferential statistics. The findings prove that those who commit to group learning have better teaching skills than those who have a low commitment to group learning. Commitment to group learning can help students acquire skills through creating a sense of comfort in learning, reflecting on a responsibility to improve themselves, and trying to help peers through the role of observer and reflection.

Abstract

Identity status is a categorization of self-identity that helps a person to make choices based on the results of exploration and commitment. Learning outcomes vary for each students. Some students achieve excellent grade, others are average or even poor. Identity status may haveaneffecton students’ learning outcomes. This study aims to compare students' learning outcomes based on their identity statuses. This research used a quantitative approach. To examine the hypothesis, researchers used the one-way ANOVA test to answer the research question about a significant difference between students' learning outcomes and their identity status. The samples were 74 third semester students from the English Education Study Program. Data for identity statuses were obtained using a questionnaire with 40 statements. Data for learning outcomes were obtained from final semester test scores. ANOVA test result indicated a significant difference between students' learning outcomes and their identity status. Thus, this study proved that there is a difference between learning outcomes based on identity Status. Therefore, it is vital to know the students' identity status to improve student learning outcomes. Students with a diffusion identity status are in a serious problem. Teachers must find a solution so that their identity status can develop towards a high identity status.

Abstract

The role of technology that continues to develop in the era of globalization, especially in the field of education, demands various innovations in the teaching and learning process to improve the quality of learning in the world of education. However, in learning, some students have negative perceptions that can make students not enthusiastic about participating in learning. Students will have difficulty understanding the material and will impact less than optimal learning outcomes of mathematics and physics in learning. This study examines the differences in students' perceptions based on gender in grades A and B in the physics-mathematics e-module. This type of research is quantitative and is conducted by a survey. The data collection instrument is a perception survey using a Likert scale. Data were analyzed descriptively (mean, median, mode, frequency, and percent) and inferential statistics (hypothesis test: normality and homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests: independent T-test). Technique The sample is a total sample of 80 students from 2 classes. The result of this research is that there is a significant difference between female students' perceptions with a significance level of 0.049 and a significance level of 0.005 for boys. The key is that the average difference in perception between women and men is lower. Men are more rational in inserting something, while women are more emotional. The results of this study are expected to contribute to educators in improving the quality of learning in an educational institution.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate anti-corruption character education through Balinese local wisdom in junior high schools and formulate strategies to strengthen its implementation. The research samples were determined purposively. The evaluation model used was the CIPPO model (Context, Input, Process, Output, Outcome), modified from the CIPP model. Data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation methods. Data analysis was carried out using quantitative descriptive methods and SWOT analysis. The results showed that the implementation of anti-corruption character education was considered effective with an achievement of 76.06%. The highest achievement is on the input variable of 81.75% (very effective), and the lowest is on the process variable of 61.75% (less effective). The process of implementing anti-corruption education through learning, habituation, and civilizing is still dominant at the theoretical level, not involving students actively and critically in real life. The SWOT analysis resulted in five strategy formulations, namely: (1) establishment of a character education development unit (anti-corruption), (2) transformation of anti-corruption education learning, (3) exemplary, habituation and civilizing, (4) strengthening extracurricular programs, and (5) building cooperation network.
