Abstract

The Ummi method for learning the Qur’an aims to teach students correct recitation from an early age. This study evaluates the implementation of Quranic learning using the Ummi method, focusing on both process and product aspects. It employs a quantitative approach as evaluation research, utilizing observation, interviews, and questionnaires for data collection. The CIPP assessment model is used to assess both process and product aspects. The study sample consisted of 25 third-grade students. The findings are as follows: (1) From the process perspective, the implementation of the Al-Qur’an study program using the Ummi method reveals issues such as students experiencing difficulties with breath control and forgetfulness. (2) From the product perspective, the study shows that the average learning achievement of third-grade students is at volume 4. Overall, the evaluation results are positive, with several recommendations from the author: (1) Students should enhance memorization skills through daily murojaah to reinforce their memorization, (2) Ummi teachers should provide tips and techniques to improve students' breath management abilities, and (3) Parents should allocate time to recite the Quran together with their children, listening to their memorization or readings daily.

Abstract

The decentralization of governmental administration during Indonesia's Reform Order era has facilitated educational autonomy, enabling Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) to redefine their institutional frameworks. This study examines the transformation of pesantren in South Tangerang City within the context of educational autonomy. Using a qualitative methodology that combines historical and phenomenological approaches, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, literature reviews, and focus group discussions. The research identified seventy pesantren distributed across seven sub-districts, with a significant concentration in Ciputat. These pesantren have undergone substantial transformations, integrating traditional religious education, such as kitab studies, with modern schooling systems, including madrasas and formal educational institutions. Certain pesantren serve specific demographics, such as orphans and converts, while others focus on formal education or the practice of specific Islamic tariqah. The observed transformations encompass human resources, curricula, educational facilities, and management structures. These changes highlight pesantren's dual commitment to preserving their religious heritage while responding to contemporary societal needs, embodying the philosophy of holistic education (tafaqquh fi ilmi al-ukhrawy wa al-dunyawy). This study contributes to the discourse on educational autonomy by offering a comprehensive perspective on pesantren's evolving role in balancing tradition and modernity within a dynamic educational landscape.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the prevalence of bullying behavior often found in schools, which negatively impacts victims, particularly causing stress both in the short and long term. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine whether there is a significant relationship between stress due to bullying and learning outcomes. It employs a quantitative approach using a correlational method, involving 238 grade VIII students. From the population, a sample of 110 students who had experienced bullying was selected using a purposive sampling method. The instrument utilized to measure stress due to bullying was the bullying stress scale developed by the researcher, based on stress aspects according to Sarafino. To assess student learning outcomes, the researcher conducted a documentation study using student report cards. The research hypothesis was tested using Product Moment Correlation analysis. The results revealed a negative correlation coefficient of -0.325 between stress due to bullying and learning outcomes, with a significance value (sig.) of 0.001, which is smaller than the specified significance level. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the level of stress experienced by students and the level of learning outcomes achieved, indicating that higher levels of stress are associated with lower learning outcomes. Future research could explore the efficacy of intervention programs aimed at reducing bullying-induced stress and improving learning outcomes among students.

Abstract

In the school-based education system, educators often prioritize cognitive development over students' emotional development. It is crucial to instill good character in children from a young age as it influences them well into adulthood. Research indicates that the RSMC method is effective for nurturing early childhood character traits. This study examines the application of the RSMC method in Kindergarten, using a single case design with a holistic approach. Data collection methods included observation, interviews with an experienced educator, and documentation of lesson plans and curriculum structures. The Milles and Hubermen interactive model was employed for data analysis, involving descriptive data collection, data reduction, and data presentation to draw conclusions. The findings suggest that the RSMC approach, comprising Scheduled Routine Activities (R), Unscheduled Spontaneous Activities (S), Modelling and Giving Examples (M), and Environmental Conditioning (C), effectively fosters character development in daily activities. This method can assess changes in students' behavior resulting from specific stimuli and responses. Therefore, the RSMC method developed in this study offers a viable option for early childhood character cultivation. Further research should explore the long-term effectiveness of different positive bias methods for character education in early childhood.

Abstract

Technological advancements have transformed the learning landscape for students in schools. Unlike the past, where discussions were confined to the classroom, today's students engage in digital discussions through platforms like Zoom Meetings, Google Classroom, or school-provided eLearning. The impact of technology on students is twofold, presenting both positive and negative aspects. In an effort to enhance student learning and character development, researchers have created a non-text digital book on citizenship education. Utilizing Borg and Gall's research methodology, data collection involved questionnaires, focus group discussions, interviews, and observations. The research findings demonstrate the viability of digital non-text civics education books, indicating their applicability in junior high schools to bolster students' hard-working character. Significant differences in the aspect of hard work were observed between the experimental and control groups in various tests. In conclusion, digital books with the theme ”Rumi Sang Pemimpi” (in English: ”Rumi the Dreamer”) prove effective in strengthening students' character, particularly their hard-working traits. The researcher recommends further exploration of characters in the digital book related to digital citizenship.
