Abstract

Garbage is the main problem causing environmental problems which are dominated by organic waste. Management of organic waste must be carried out extensively, one of which is by making eco-enzymes. This study aimed to determine the production of eco-enzymes from kitchen organic waste and the characterization of eco-enzymes based on them. This type of research is an experiment with a qualitative approach. The sample used is a mixture of kitchen organic waste, namely the production and characterization of eco-enzymes which include pH, COD, BOD, TSS, and TDS. The research results obtained data on eco-enzyme production by mixing 3 components in a ratio of 1 : 3: 10 (1 part sugar, 3 parts organic kitchen waste. 10 parts water), then put into a closed container and stored in a cool, dry place, circulation air is good, and dark for 3 months. Eco-enzyme characterization showed a pH of 2.59, a TDS of 2840mg/L, a TSS of 4.46mg/L, a BOD of 60 mg/L, and a COD of 13100mg/L. Kata kunci: Produksi, Karakterisasi, Eco-enzim

Abstract

Students' critical thinking skills are still very low. Development research is carried out to improve the quality of the product under development, namely the encyclopedia. An encyclopedia is learning material that includes descriptions and pictures to make topics clearer. Each statement is listed in alphabetical order for ease of use. This study aims to describe the viability of the Annonaceae family in the Botanical Garden of Banua. This study uses the developmental research type of instructional design research with Tessmer's formative assessment design. The personality test subjects were four students and the small group test subjects were four students who took the Phanerogamae course. Data were obtained from different research instruments on the practicality of content and the practicality of expectations. The results of the encyclopedic study of the family Annonaceae at the Botanical Garden of Banua on the practicality of the contents received a good category, because it received a very good category for its structure, attractiveness, and practicality because it is easy to use, and has received positive feedback from students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of the CTL (Contextual Teacher And Learning) learning model assisted by visual media to student learning outcomes in plant tissue material for class XI at  Senior hight School  1 Sidamanik. The problem in this study is the low learning outcomes of students which are known from the results of interviews with one of the teachers in the field of biology studies at Senior hight School 1 Sidamanik. Therefore, the CTL (Contextual Teacher And Learning) learning model with the aid of visual media is applied to plant tissue material. The method in this research is quantitative, with the type of research Pre-Experimental Design and research design One Group Pret-test-Post-test design. The study population was all students of class XI semester 1 at Senior hight School  1 Sidamanik for the academic year 2022/2023, the sample of this study was class XI IPA II, which consisted of 33 students. This study uses a test instrument to measure learning outcomes before and after the study. The test used consists of 30 questions. After completing the validity test, there are 20 valid questions and 10 invalid questions. The results of the research show that the learning outcomes of students have increased. It can be seen before and after the treatment, the average value of the pre-test results an average value of 43.9. After treatment with the CTL learning model (contextualized teaching and learning), post-test scores increased by an average of 77.00. It is then analyzed using the N-Profit formula to obtain a percentage of 58.53, which falls into the "very efficient" category. Kata kunci: Hasil belajar,Model pembelajaran CTL (Contextual Teacher And Learning), Media Visual

Abstract

Self-efficacy is a psychological factor that can influence how well a person learns. Students' confidence in their abilities is proven to have a significant influence on learning outcomes. This research aims to describe students' self-efficacy profiles based on biology learning processes and outcomes. This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The instruments used in data collection were questionnaires, observation sheets, and documentation. The population in this study were all students of class XI Science at SMA Negeri 21 Medan with a sampling technique using a total sampling method, totaling 143 students. The results of the research show that class category with a percentage of 67.1%, but biology learning outcomes are still in the poor category with an average score of 54.5. This shows that self-efficacy is only one of many factors that can influence student learning outcomes

Abstract

Cosmos Caudatus Kunth. is one of the most commonly found medicinal plants.   Cosmos leaves contain phytochemical compounds such as terpenoids, fatty acids, flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins. This study aims to determine the effect of differences in methanol, ethanol, and ethyl acetate solvents on the phytochemical tests of  Cosmos leaf samples. The study was conducted in the Biology Education Laboratory, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Mulawarman University, as well as the Organic Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Mulawarman University. Qualitative phytochemical screening is conducted by assessing the solubility qualities of the substances. The findings from the examination of secondary metabolic chemicals indicate that the methanol extract derived from Cosmos leaves comprises alkaloids, triterpenoids, flavonoids, phenolics, and quinones. While the ethanol extract of Cosmos leaves contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenolics, and quinones. There is an ethyl acetate extract of Cosmos leaves, alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids, phenolics, and quinones.

Abstract

Education is an effort to develop individual abilities and character through various processes such as guidance, teaching, training, and interaction with the environment. 21st century learning emphasizes critical thinking skills and environmental approaches related to the phrases think globally and act locally through the development of encyclopedias at Kebun Raya Banua. An encyclopedia is a type of learning resource that contains descriptions containing knowledge and is arranged (alphabetically) or according to the scientific environment by collaborating on text and images. This study aims to describe the practicality of the Rutaceae family encyclopedia at Kebun Raya Banua. The research method used is the EDR (Educational Design Research) method with Tessmer's formative evaluation design. The one-to-one test subjects were three students and the small group test subjects were four students. The object of this research is the encyclopedia of the Rutaceae family. The results of the study show that the practicality of the content is categorized as good and the practicality of expectations is categorized as very good. This shows that the encyclopedia of the rutaceae family at Kebun Raya Banua is as expected interesting and easy to use to train students' critical thinking skills (practical). Kata kunci: ensiklopedia, famili rutaceae, kepraktisan, penelitian pengembangan

Abstract

One of the factors that influence plant growth and development is the use of planting media. In this study, we will provide information on the use of suitable planting media for cactus (Gymnocalycium damsii) in various treatments of using growing media including compost, cocopite, roasted husks and sand, which were compared to 7 treatments. This research was conducted in October 2022 using the experimental trial method on observations made for 3 weeks. The tools used include soil testers, calipers, scales, planting media cups. The purpose of this research was to find out the use of planting media that is suitable for the growth and development of cactus (Gymnocalycium damsii). The results found that the use of planting media III with a composition (husk 25 gr + compost 150 gr + sand 25 gr) that gives a diameter development of 1.1 inches and a significant growth to the length of the cactus roots in the use of planting medium II with a composition (husk 25 gr + compost 75 gr + sand 100 gr) ) which provides an average growth addition of root length growth of 0.5 cm.             Kata kunci:  Media Tanam, Pertumbuhan, Gymnocalycium damsii

Abstract

The application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in biology learning is relevant to the goals of 21st-century learning. The concept of Coordinating Systems in Humans must be known and understood by everyone, especially students. This study aims to describe the effect of applying the PBL model to the learning of the Coordinating System concept on the learning outcomes of students in class XI MIPA at Senior hight school  4 Banjarmasin. This study used a quasi-experimental method with the nonequivalent control group research design. The research sample was class XI MIPA 2 as the experimental class and class XI MIPA 4 as the control class for 2 meetings. The research data were obtained from the results of the pretest and posttest, LKPD. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test at α = 0.05. The results showed (1) the application of the PBL learning model to learning the Coordination System concept in Humans had a significant effect on the learning outcomes of class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 4 Banjarmasin (2) Cognitive learning outcomes were in a good category (3) Affective learning outcomes of character behavior and social behavior are included in the good to very good category (4) psychomotor learning outcomes are good to very good category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the suitability of the content of biology textbooks for class XI SMA to the curriculum 2013. The type of research used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach and uses content/document analysis methods. The subject of this research is a biology textbook for class XI high school with cell material consisting of 3 books to be analyzed by researchers, namely the book publisher Bumi Aksara, the book publisher Erlangga, and the book publisher Grafindo Media Pratama. The research instrument used was an analysis sheet of student books based on the Curriculum 2013 Implementation Assistance Activity Guidelines. The results showed that the level of conformity of the content of biology textbooks based on: (1) SKL aspects in books A and B was 93% (very appropriate), and book C was 87% (very suitable). (2) Aspects of Core Competence for book A are 92% (very suitable), and books B and C are 83% (appropriate). (3) Aspects of Basic Competence for Book A 96% (very suitable), book B 85% (very suitable), book C 89% (very suitable). (4) Aspects of Sufficiency of Material for book A 67% (appropriate), books B and C for 50% (not appropriate). (5) Aspect of Material Depth of Book A 75% (appropriate), book B 68% (appropriate), and Book C 71% (appropriate). (6) Aspects of the Scientific Approach of books A, B, and C by 100% (very appropriate). (7) The authentic assessment aspect of Book A is 57% (quite appropriate), book B is 54% (not suitable) and C is 59% (quite appropriate). The average agreement coefficient of the three books is 0.94% (very good). Abstract

This research is classroom action research which is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the learning process in class. What influences low student learning outcomes is the lack of student activity in the learning process. Plus the learning process uses a monotonous lecture method. This research aims to find out whether applying the RMS (Reading, Mind Mapping, and Sharing) learning model to the Human Excretory System material can improve the learning outcomes of class XI MIPA 5 UPT SMAN 3 Wajo students. The subjects of this research were all students of class XI MIPA 5 UPT SMAN 3 Wajo for the 2022/2023 academic year, totaling 31 students. This research was carried out in 2 cycles, each cycle held 3 meetings. The learning process for each meeting is designed by applying the RMS (Reading, Mind Mapping, and Sharing) learning model. The instruments used were student activity observation sheets and student learning outcomes tests in the form of multiple choices. At the end of each cycle, a learning outcomes test is carried out. Based on the research results, it shows that there is an increase in student learning activities from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I the percentages were 29.5%, 37.6%, and 46.2%. Meanwhile, in cycle II the percentages were 58.6%, 67.2%, and 78.4%. This was followed by an increase in student learning outcomes from cycle I with a percentage of 41.9% to 87.1% in cycle II. From these results, it can be concluded that implementing the RMS (Reading, Mind Mapping, Sharing) learning model, can improve student learning outcomes in Biology lessons in Class XI MIPA 5 UPT SMAN 3 Wajo.
