The Journal invites original research articles and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The whole spectrum of research in mathematics education are welcome, which includes, but is not limited to the following topics: Design/Development Research in Mathematics Education Educational design research is perceived as the systematic study of designing, developing and evaluating educational interventions (programs, teaching-learning strategies, and materials, products, systems) as solutions to such problems. It also aims at advancing our knowledge about the characteristics of these interventions and the processes to design and develop them. Authors could submit their work, either a validation study or a development study in mathematics education, with a comprehensive description and analysis of every stage. Mathematics Ability Mathematics ability refers to the ability (a human construct) to obtain, to process, and to retain mathematical information (cognitive) and to solve mathematics problems (pragmatic). To maintain the focus of this journal, the scope of mathematics ability includes the following abilities: reasoning, connection, communication, representation, and problem-solving. A paper is eligible for this topic if it comprehensively discusses those abilities. Affects in Mathematics Teaching and Learning The scope deals with a basic question, how mathematics-related affects contribute to the teaching and learning of mathematics? The affects in mathematics education can be various topics such as application of models and approaches mathematics learning, beliefs, emotions, self-efficacy, confidence, motivations, identity, mathematics anxiety, etc. ICT in Mathematics Education The advance of information and communication technology (ICT) has been the concern of all human life, including in education. When all students use technology, education must be the first one to utilize it for the sake of effectiveness and attractiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between achievement motivation and statistical literacy among mathematics education students. Statistical literacy is an important competency that enables students to understand, interpret, and use statistical information in various contexts. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of mathematics education students who had taken statistics courses, while the sample included 23 students selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of a statistical literacy test comprising 15 items and an achievement motivation questionnaire consisting of 20 statements using a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including normality test, linearity test, autocorrelation test, heteroscedasticity test, Pearson correlation analysis, coefficient of determination, and simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that students’ statistical literacy was in the moderate category with a mean score of 17.65, while achievement motivation was in the high category with a mean score of 75.96. The correlation analysis indicated a strong and significant relationship between achievement motivation and statistical literacy with a correlation coefficient of 0.782 and a significance value of 0.000. The regression analysis revealed that achievement motivation had a significant effect on students’ statistical literacy with a contribution of 61.2%. These findings indicate that achievement motivation is an important factor that can improve students’ statistical literacy in statistics learning.

Abstract

Prospective teachers need to have good statistical literacy because they will become a decision-makers in data-based classroom learning. They must be able to determine when to change learning according to students’ progress. Prospective teachers, including Primary Student Teacher Education (PGSD) are not only able to do statistical calculations, but also as the ability to read data, interpret statistical information, and use the analysis data results as a basis for rational and responsible decision-making. This study aims to examine student statistical literacy development through contextual learning. The study used a quantitative approach with a one group pretest–posttest design, involving 72 PGSD students at one of the private universities in Indonesia. The instrument is a statistical literacy essay test. The data was analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed a significant increasing in statistical literacy after the implementation of contextual learning. These findings confirm that contextual learning is effective in improving students' statistical literacy and is recommended as a pedagogical approach to strengthen the statistical literacy of prospective teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) implementation on enhancing students' learning autonomy. Employing a quantitative survey method and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis, this research examines the relationship between PjBL implementation and students' learning autonomy levels. A total of 136 students from a private university in Indonesia participated as the sample. The results indicate that PjBL significantly influences the improvement of students' learning autonomy, with a path coefficient of 0.716 and a highly significant p-value (p < 0.001). The findings conclude that PjBL has a significant effect on increasing students' learning autonomy. PjBL has proven to be effective in encouraging students to manage tasks, think critically, make independent decisions, and develop essential skills such as time management, problem-solving, and self-reflection, which are crucial elements in student-centered learning. In addition to academic skills, PjBL also plays a role in the development of soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and independent project management. Practical experiences in projects relevant to real-life scenarios make students more independent, confident, and responsible for their learning outcomes. However, this study also identifies challenges in PjBL implementation, such as time constraints, limited resources, and insufficient instructor support. Although PjBL is effective in fostering learning autonomy, its success requires careful planning, adequate resource provision, and instructor training. These findings have significant implications for the development of learning models that support learning autonomy in higher education and provide a foundation for further research into effective ways to overcome implementation challenges, particularly concerning resources and instructor training.
