Abstract

Civic Education (PKn/ Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan) has a crucial role in shaping citizens' awareness and political participation, which is essential for the sustainability of democracy. This research highlights the function of PKn as a conveyor of civic and cultural values, as well as the importance of integrating educational institutions in the teaching system to form democratic future citizens. In addition, the adaptation of PKn to the challenges of globalization and value pluralism is the main focus, including the development of character and morals in accordance with the demands of the times. In the technological era, the aspect of digital citizenship is also a concern, with curriculum evaluations aimed at improving understanding and reducing negative behaviours such as cyberbullying. This research emphasizes that PKn includes not only political and legal aspects but also environmental sustainability and social inclusivity values so as to be able to form citizens who actively participate and be responsible in a democratic society.

Abstract

This article discusses efforts to reconstruct civic education within the multicultural, democratic, and dynamic context of Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach with a literature study method, this study traces the development of citizenship concepts from a legal-formal dimension toward a paradigm of active, critical, and transformative citizenship. The research analyzes various theories of citizenship, character education, and multiculturalism relevant to the reform needs of civic education in the global era. The findings indicate that civic education in Indonesia needs to be reconstructed from an indoctrination model to a reflective and contextual learning model. This process includes strengthening Pancasila values, fostering critical awareness, developing global citizenship competencies, and managing cultural pluralism inclusively. Thus, civic education can serve as a strategic vehicle in shaping intelligent, democratic, tolerant citizens who care about national and humanitarian life.

Abstract

Effective classroom management is a crucial foundation in the success of learning in Primary School (SD), given the unique characteristics of students at this developmental age. This research aims to identify and analyze effective classroom management strategies that foster a conducive learning environment for elementary school students through a document study. The research method employed is qualitative, utilizing a literature review approach to analyze various sources, including scientific articles, textbooks, and research reports. The results of the analysis identified six main themes: (1) Preparation and Implementation of Clear Rules and Routines, (2) Development of Positive Teacher-Student Relationships, (3) Use of Active and Engaging Learning Strategies, (4) Implementation of Positive Reinforcement Techniques, (5) Implementation of Appropriate Proactive and Reactive Interventions, and (6) Creating a Supportive Classroom Physical Environment. These themes consistently appear in the literature as important factors in increasing student engagement, reducing disruptive behaviour, and creating a favourable classroom climate. This study concludes that effective classroom management in elementary school is multidimensional and requires the integration of various strategies that take into account the cognitive, social, and emotional aspects of students. The implications of this study underscore the importance of teacher professional development in adopting adaptive and evidence-based classroom management strategies to enhance the quality of learning at the primary education level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse various models of curriculum evaluation and their implications for enhancing the quality of education, employing a comprehensive literature review approach. The curriculum is understood as an essential, planned framework in the educational process, influenced by diverse paradigms, including behavioristic, cognitive, constructivist, and humanistic, as well as the contributions of prominent educational thinkers such as Ralph W. Tyler, Benjamin Bloom, Jerome S. Bruner, and John Dewey. The results of the analysis show that curriculum evaluation models, including the Stufflebeam Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) Model, the Stake Responsive Model, and the Formative and Summative Evaluation classifications, offer a unique perspective in assessing the effectiveness of education. The CIPP model offers a comprehensive framework, spanning from planning to outcomes. The Responsive Stake Model highlights the importance of stakeholder perspectives and dynamic contexts, while Formative and Summative Evaluation function to facilitate continuous improvement and strategic decision-making. On the other hand, Tyler's Goal-Oriented Model emphasises accountability through the achievement of measurable targets. It is concluded that there is no single model that is superior for all situations; The selection of the model must be adaptive to the objective, context, and philosophy of the evaluation. This study recommends a multiparadigm approach and blended methods in curriculum evaluation to achieve a more comprehensive understanding, as well as encourage active stakeholder engagement and the utilisation of formative evaluations for continuous improvement. An in-depth understanding of these various models is crucial for educators and policymakers in designing relevant and high-quality education systems.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education is growing because of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI)-based business simulation and gamification. However, there are different responses to gamification-based learning. This study aims to identify the factors that influence learning in gamified business simulation using the self-determination theory (SDT) approach. This study uses a quantitative approach with an online survey of 160 university students learning entrepreneurship through an enterprise resource planning (ERP) based business simulation enhanced with AI and gamification elements. Data were analyzed using importance-performance map analysis (IPMA) to evaluate four primary constructs: autonomy, competence, presence, and relatedness. The analysis results show that the presence construct is fundamental and performs well. While relatedness is fundamental, its performance needs to be improved. The autonomy and competence constructs perform adequately but do not require significant changes. The results also emphasize the importance of strengthening the elements of realism and social interaction in gamified business simulations. Developers and educators should improve the presence and relatedness elements to increase student motivation and engagement. Periodic evaluations and adjustments according to student needs are also necessary to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the simulation. This research provides valuable insights for developing more effective technology-based learning methods in supporting entrepreneurship education.

Abstract

Many researchers use SERVQUAL to measure service quality in higher education institutions (HEI). They believe that students are customers and that higher education institution should exceed their expectations. This article uses a literature review to investigate the causes and effects of that paradigm shift. The findings show many negative impacts on treating students as customers such as degrading students-HEI relationship, diverting the orientation of teaching and learning, and contrasting with academic performance. This article suggests that SERVQUAL should not be used to measure the quality of service in higher education institutions.
