Abstract

Siswa harus memiliki aspek kognitif yang mencakup perilaku-perilaku yang menekankan aspek intelektual seperti kemampuan matematis, yaitu pengetahuan dan kecakapan matematika yang diperlukan untuk dapat melakukan manipulasi matematika dan kemampuan berpikir dalam matematika. Masalah penelitian ini adalah kompetensi strategis matematis siswa yang masih belum optimal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan desriptif kualitatif dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kompetensi strategis matematis siswa pada materi himpunan. penelitian ini melibatkan siswa kelas VII.7 SMP Negeri 8 Palopo yang berjumlah 3 orang yang dikategorikan sebagai Subjek Kemampuan Tinggi (SKT), Subjek Kemampuan Sedang (SKR) dan Subjek Kemmapuan Rendah (SKR). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes tertulis yang dilanjutkan dengan wawancara secara individual untuk memperoleh data yang valid. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini (1) Menelaah seluruh data yang tersedia dari berbagai sumber, (2) melakukan reduksi data, (3) menyajian data yang meliputi pengklasifikasian dan identitas data, (4) memaparkan hasil tes dan wawancara tentang kompetensi strategis matematis siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi strategis matematis ketiga subjek dalam menyelesaikan masalah himpunan berbeda-beda, subjek subjek tinggi memahami masalah (understood the problem) dan choose the right formula to solve the problem, subjek sedang tidak secara lengkap memahami masalah (not complete understood the problem), serta not complete choose the right formula to solve the problem. Kompetensi strategis matematis Subjek Kemampuan Rendah dalam menyelesaikan soal, subjek memahami masalah yang diberikan (understood the problem), namun not choose the right formula to solve the problem.

Abstract

This service is conducted in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province. It is motivated by several issues faced by our partners, including the limited knowledge of teachers in utilizing Zotero through Microsoft Word for automatic reference citations, the relatively low awareness of the basic applications for referencing among teachers, and the need for teachers to prepare themselves in creating automated references. Therefore, the objective of this activity is to address these partner-related issues. The methods employed include outreach and teaching, discussions, and collaborative training between the implementers and the partners. The training participants are middle school math teachers from Takalar Regency, members of the Mathematics Subject Teachers' Meeting organization (MGMP Matematika SMP). Through this activity, it is expected that teachers' knowledge in utilizing the Zotero application will increase, raising awareness and understanding among teachers about the importance of flexible and automatic reference application usage, enhancing teachers' insight, abilities, and skills in utilizing Microsoft Word to be more informative and innovative.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat kompetensi mahasiswa calon guru melalui implementasi mata kuliah STEAM Education dalam konteks nyata di sekolah mitra. Program ini dilaksanakan melalui kolaborasi antara dosen, guru, dan kepala sekolah untuk mengintegrasikan pembelajaran berbasis Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) di kelas, dengan 2 mitra sekolah yakni SMP Kartika XX-1 dan UPT SPF SMP Negeri 26 Makassar. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi perkuliahan, pendampingan mahasiswa dalam perancangan proyek pembelajaran STEAM, serta implementasi langsung di sekolah mitra. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap konsep integratif STEAM, kemampuan mereka merancang proyek lintas disiplin, serta peningkatan keterlibatan dan hasil belajar siswa di sekolah mitra. Program ini memperkuat hubungan kampus–sekolah dan berkontribusi pada pengembangan ekosistem pembelajaran abad ke-21 yang inovatif dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aimed at analyzing the need for developing Smart Digital Learning (SDL) based on PISA-oriented problems and local wisdom to enhance junior high school students’ numeracy literacy. The review covers national and international articles relevant to SDL, mathematical literacy, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and ethnomathematics. A total of 20635 articles were initially identified from Scopus, ERIC, Google Scholar, and Garuda databases, and through a systematic screening process, 30 studies published between 2020–2025 were selected for in-depth analysis. The reviewed literature covers topics on SDL, mathematical literacy, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and ethnomathematics. The findings indicate that the use of digital technologies such as games and Augmented Reality effectively improves students’ motivation, problem-solving, and metacognitive abilities. In addition, the integration of PBL and local wisdom contexts strengthens students’ mathematical communication and reasoning skills. However, the literature review also reveals that studies integrating PISA, PBL, and local wisdom within a unified digital learning system remain limited. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a direction for Smart Digital Learning that not only emphasizes technological aspects but also contextualizes mathematics learning through PISA problems and cultural values. The results of this study recommend the design of SDL as an innovative learning solution capable of balancing global standards with local contexts, thereby enhancing students’ numeracy literacy in a meaningful and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study analyzes the application of ethnomathematics in Fort Rotterdam, Makassar, focusing on the use of numbers and measurements in architecture as symbolic representations and defense strategies. The research employed direct observation, semi-structured interviews with tour guides, and literature review of supporting documents and journals. The findings indicate that numbers are utilized in various mathematical activities, including counting the number of bastions, gates, and internal buildings; measuring the length, area, height, and wall thickness; and designing structures that serve both strategic functions and cultural meanings. Notably, the five bastions were designed to resemble a turtle, reflecting the Gowa Kingdom’s philosophy of ruling over both land and sea. The implications of these findings are significant for mathematics education, as integrating local cultural contexts and symbolism into learning can enhance conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, learning motivation, and students’ cultural identity. The study underscores that cultural heritage sites such as Fort Rotterdam are not merely historical artifacts but also serve as contextual mathematics learning resources that enrich formal educational experiences.

Abstract

This study introduces the Coefficient Parallelisator Matrix (CPM) as a novel diagonal similarity operator designed to preserve structural and semantic symmetry within the framework of Knot Semantic Logic (KSL). The CPM formalizes the process of parallelization in linguistic and conceptual structures by transforming semantic matrices through similarity operations that maintain eigenvalues, determinants, and symmetry invariants. Each element of the CPM acts as a scaling coefficient, re- balancing semantic weights while conserving the overall interpretive equilibrium of the text. Mathematically, the transformation A′ = MAM−1 establishes a spectral equivalence between the original and parallelized structures, ensuring that both share identical eigen-spectra, determinant, and Hermitian invariants. This invariance reflects a form of semantic gauge symmetry, wherein the un- derlying topology of meaning remains stable despite local transformations in semantic intensity. Conceptually, the operator bridges linguistic theory, topology, and algebraic representation, providing a formal mechanism for analyzing reflective relations such as parallelism, chiasmus, and concentric composition. The findings extend the mathematical foundation of KSL by establishing the Coefficient Parallelisator as an analytical framework for quantifying semantic symmetry—enabling deeper integration between mathematical logic, structural linguistics, and computational semantics.

Abstract

Discrete Mathematics learning at the university level requires high-level reasoning skills and deep conceptual understanding, particularly in the topic of recursive relations. However, in instructional practice, students still experience various learning difficulties that affect the quality of their understanding. This study aims to identify students’ learning obstacles in recursive relations as a preliminary study within the framework of Didactical Design Research (DDR). A qualitative approach was employed by analyzing students’ responses to true–false items accompanied by written justifications administered in a final examination. The data were analyzed to identify learning obstacles based on ontogenic and epistemological perspectives. The findings indicate that students experience learning obstacles characterized by the inappropriate use of prior mathematical knowledge, limited ability to provide conceptual justifications, and a tendency toward procedural reasoning in contexts that require deeper conceptual analysis. These results suggest that students’ difficulties in recursive relations cannot be separated from the didactical situations framing the learning process. This preliminary study provides a foundation for the development of didactical designs in subsequent research, with the conceptual integration of the Case Method to reconstruct more meaningful learning situations in Discrete Mathematics.

Abstract

Kemampuan analogical thinking merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam berpikir matematis yang memungkinkan siswa menghubungkan pengetahuan yang telah dimiliki dengan permasalahan baru yang dihadapi. Namun, masih banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam membangun hubungan antara masalah sumber dan masalah target sehingga proses transfer pengetahuan belum berlangsung secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses berpikir matematis melalui analogical thinking siswa berkemampuan tinggi dalam menyelesaikan masalah kubus dan balok. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah seorang siswa kelas VIII yang dipilih secara purposive sampling berdasarkan hasil tes analogical thinking dan kemampuan mengomunikasikan proses berpikirnya. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes analogical thinking dan wawancara semi-terstruktur. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek berkemampuan tinggi mampu memenuhi seluruh indikator analogical thinking, yaitu encoding, inferring, mapping, dan applying. Pada tahap encoding, subjek mampu mengidentifikasi masalah sumber dan masalah target dengan tepat. Pada tahap inferring, subjek mampu menemukan hubungan matematis yang relevan pada masalah sumber. Pada tahap mapping, subjek mampu menghubungkan kesamaan struktur antara masalah sumber dan masalah target secara tepat. Selanjutnya, pada tahap applying, subjek mampu menerapkan hubungan yang telah ditemukan untuk menyelesaikan masalah target dengan benar. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa berkemampuan tinggi memiliki kemampuan transfer pengetahuan yang baik sehingga mampu menggunakan analogi secara efektif dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika.
