Abstract

This paper presents the reptile search algorithm (RSA) method to optimize the proportional integral derivative (PID) parameters on direct current (DC) motors. RSA was adopted from crocodile hunting behavior. Crocodile behavior is modeled in two important steps: surrounding and attacking prey. The RSA method was applied using twenty-three classical test functions. The search method of the proposed RSA method with other existing algorithms such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), and differential evolution (DE). Integral multiplied by absolute error (ITAE) and integral of time multiplied squared error (ITSE) were used as comparisons in measuring the performance of the RSA method. The results show that the proposed method, namely RSA, has better efficiency. Optimization of PID parameters with RSA on DC motor control shows superior performance. From the experiment, the ITSE average value of the RSA method is 4.17% better than the conventional PID method.

Abstract

This study presents a hybrid method, namely the marine predator algorithm (MPA) and Aquila optimizer (AO). The proposed algorithm is named MAO. AO duplicated the existence of the Aquila bird in nature while hunting for prey while MPA was inspired by predators in marine animal life. Although AO is widely accepted, it has several disadvantages. This causes various weaknesses such as a weak exploitation phase and slow growth of the convergence curve. Thus, certain exploitation and exploration in conventional AO can be studied to achieve the best balance. The MPA demonstrates the capacity to deliver optimal design and statistically efficient outcomes. The proposed method used AO as the main algorithm. To measure the performance of the proposed method, this study depicted a comparison using the AO, MPA, and whale optimization algorithm (WOA) methods. This paper was evaluated the performance of MAO on twenty-one CEC2017 benchmark functions test and droop control performance on direct current (DC) microgrid. From the simulation, MAO shows superior convergence ability. The proposed method and its application to droop control was successfully implemented and implied a promising performance.

Abstract

A two-stage power factor correction (PFC) topology achieves a higher power factor quality and lower harmonic distortion than a single-stage converter. This paper introduces a two-stage PFC topology using a parallel boost and flyback converter which is employed as a voltage regulator The main boost converter is used for PFC and the other is the active filter circuit. The filter is implemented to improve the quality of phase-current and eliminate the switching loss. Furthermore, a reaction curve of Ziegler-Nichol’s method determines the controller parameter for cascaded PFC converter circuit. Simulated and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed method. The total harmonic distortion (THD) value decreases significantly from 83.35% become 0.98% in the simulation. In addition, experimental results show that the current response has good performances, including less harmonics, higher power factor, and lower THD value compared to without a PFC circuit. The PF increased from 0.43 become 0.96, the THD value decreased from 49.4% become 16.2%, and contains a small number of harmonics. The proposed controller method has better responses than the conventional one, including small steady-state error, fast rise time and settling time. A microcontroller (MCU), type STM32F407VG, produced by STMicroelectronics is used to execute the proposed control in both converters.

Abstract

This article introduces a recently created adaptation of the red-tailed hawk (RTH) algorithm. The proposed approach is a modified version of the original RTH algorithm, incorporating chaotic elements to enhance its integrity and performance. The RTH algorithm emulates the hunting behavior of the red-tailed hawk. This article demonstrates the adjustment of the power system stabilizer using the suggested technique in a case study involving a single-machine system. The suggested method was validated by benchmarking against known functions and evaluating its performance on a single-machine system in terms of transient responsiveness. The essay employs the original RTH algorithm as a means of comparison. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed technique exhibits promising performance.
