Abstract

The dingo optimization algorithm (DOA) adopts the social life of dingo dogs. The dingo is a breed of ancient dog originating from Australia. Dingo hunting strategies such as assault with persecution, flocking, and scavenging behavior became the inspiration for DOA. In this paper, DOA is applied to a power system stabilizer (PSS) to dampen low-frequency oscillations (LFO) in a single-machine infinite bus (SMIB). DOA is used to obtain optimal parameters for PSS. The damping controller is designed for optimal lead-lag control. To obtain the performance of the DOA method, the results were compared with the uncontrolled method, conventional PSS, Whale optimization algorithm (WOA), and grasshopper optimization algorithm (GOA). Simulation using MATLAB with three different operating conditions, namely light load (20%), medium load (50%) and high load (100%). From the simulation using MATLAB with SMIB modeling, it was found that the application of the DOA method on PSS has the ability to reduce the average undershoot value by 28.16% and reduce the average undershoot value to 65.57% compared to the conventional PSS method.

Abstract

This  article  presents  the  proportional-integral-derivative  (PID)  parameter tuning  on  the  automatic  voltage  regulator  (AVR)  using  the chef-based optimization   algorithm   (CBOA).   CBOA   is   modeling   cooking   training activities consisting of students and young chefs in an effort to mature cooking skills.  This  article  uses  other  methods  as  a  comparison  in  measuring  the performance  of  the  proposed  method.  The  methods  used  are grasshopper optimization algorithm (GOA) and cooperation search algorithm (CSA). The simulation results show that the proposed method, namely CBOA, has a better ability in the peak value of overshoot, which is 0.232% compared to the CSA method and 12.99% compared to the GOA method.

Abstract

This article presents the modified Chernobyl disaster optimizer (CDO) method for DC motor control to find the optimal proportional integral derivative (PID) settings. DC motors are widely used machinery. DC motors are also simple to use. The detonation of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor core served as the inspiration for the idea and guiding principles of the CDO. CDO has limitations in the stability of exploration and exploitation areas. This research aims to obtain a new balance of exploration and exploitation. This study suggests incorporating the levy flight and chaotic algorithm (CA) techniques to enhance the CDO method. This study was conducted with the MATLAB/Simulink software. A comparative technique, which included the marine predator algorithm (MPA), golden jackal optimization (GJO), and CDO, was utilized to determine the performance of the MCDO method. According to the study’s findings, the MCDO method’s overshoot value outperformed all other approaches.

Abstract

This article presents techniques for modifying the power system stabilizer's (PSS) parameters. An enhanced version of the hippocampal optimization algorithm (HO) is presented here. HO represents a novel approach in metaheuristic methodology, having been inspired by the observed clinging behavior in hippos. The notion of the HO is defined using a trinary-phase model that includes their position updates in rivers or ponds, defensive techniques against predators, and mathematically described evasive methods. To confirm the efficacy of the recommended approach, this article provides comparison simulations of the PSS objective function and transient response. This study employs validation through a comparison between Original HO and conventional methods. Simulation results demonstrate that, when compared to competing algorithms, the suggested approach yields optimal results and, in some cases, exhibits fast convergence. It is known that, in comparison to the original HO approach, the recommended way can lower the average undershoot of the rotor angel and speed by 12.049% and 26.97%, respectively.
