Abstract

Universities perform a role beyond the enhancement of knowledge in modern society. During the epidemic, however, numerous institutions contributed to the improvement of the community's economy, and this trend persisted after the outbreak. The financial institutions established on the campuses of Madura's Islamic universities govern philanthropy as one of the instruments for economic development. Utilizing interviews, observation, and documentation, this research was conducted using a qualitativemethodology. The study's findings indicate that Islamic universities in Madura, through Islamic financial institutions and Islamic boarding schools, contribute to the improvement of the community's economy from the pandemic to the post-pandemic era through the use of philanthropic instruments, one of which is a widow. Widows are viewed as one of the categories that must be aided by the economy because it is usual for widows, especially those with children, to encounter economic hardships. In Islamic microfinance institutions founded on Islamic colleges in Madura, types of generosity include building houses, supplying meals on a blessed Friday, offering zakat maal and zakat fitrah, waqf in the form of daily necessities, and productive economic forms including capital aid.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a significant economic downturn, including in Madura, which necessitates alternative solutions to support community economic resilience, even if the impact is not substantial. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic economic instruments implemented by Islamic boarding school–based microfinance institutions in addressing economic challenges during the Covid-19 period. The research employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative analysis with qualitative data obtained through interviews and observations. This approach allows statistical findings to be complemented by empirical insights into the practical implementation of Islamic microfinance practices, enabling their potential replication by other institutions or communities. he findings indicate that the economic empowerment model applied is based on philanthropy from ummah to ummah, utilizing Islamic instruments such as zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf. The hypothesis testing results show that zakat has a positive and significant effect on economic improvement, with a t-value of 3.287. In contrast, infaq does not have a significant effect, while waqf and alms demonstrate negative but significant partial effects on economic conditions during the Covid-19 period. The standard error of all independent variables is below 5 percent, indicating their overall influence on the Madurese economy during the pandemic. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.718, suggesting that zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf collectively explain 71.8 percent of the variation in economic improvement, while the remaining 28.2 percent is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

In the face of the global environmental crisis and the inadequacies of purely technocratic sustainability models, Islamic ethical principles and local cultural values have emerged as vital resources for designing a holistic green economy. This study explores how maqāṣid al-sharīʿah (the higher objectives of Islamic law) interact with ecological cultural practices in shaping sustainability models in Indonesia and Malaysia, two Muslim-majority countries with distinct yet interconnected Islamic traditions and environmental challenges. Using a qualitative-comparative approach based on secondary data, official policy documents, and previous studies, this article examines various Islamic-based green initiatives, including eco-pesantren (eco-friendly Islamic boarding schools), environmental waqf projects, and green Islamic policies initiated by state religious institutions. The findings reveal that both countries integrate Islamic values into environmental practices through differing approaches: Indonesia emphasizes community-based environmental movements rooted in pesantren networks and local customs (adat), whereas Malaysia prioritizes institutional frameworks led by official authorities such as JAKIM. These models demonstrate that maqāṣid al-sharīʿah and cultural ecology function not only as normative frameworks but also as adaptive strategies shaping the ethical, spiritual, and practical dimensions of sustainable development. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic sustainability by offering a value- and culture-based conceptual synthesis as an alternative to the dominant market-oriented economic paradigm. Abstract

Abstract

A quantitative approach with a causal design was used in this study to analyze the influence of Digital Behavior and Professional Learning Community on the Professionalism of Elementary School Teachers in Penajam Paser Utara Regency in the 2025/2026 academic year. The independent variables were defined as Digital Behavior (X1) and Professional Learning Community (X2), while the dependent variable was defined as Teacher Professionalism (Y). The study population consisted of 520 public elementary school teachers spread across four sub-districts. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula at a 7% error rate, resulting in 147 respondents and then rounded to 150 teachers to increase accuracy. The sampling technique was proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a five-level Likert-scale closed questionnaire. All instruments were tested for validity and reliability before use. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 22 through classical assumption tests (normality and linearity) and multiple linear regression. Hypothesis testing was carried out at a significance level of 0.05 and strengthened by the coefficient of determination (R²). The results of the study show that partially and simultaneously, Digital Behavior and Professional Learning Community have a positive and significant influence on Teacher Professionalism. These findings imply that strengthening teachers’ digital competencies and fostering collaborative professional learning communities within schools are essential strategies to enhance teacher professionalism and improve the quality of elementary education.

Abstract

Many MSME producers of processed food put halal writing on the packaging, either only with ordinary Latin and Arabic writing, or accompanied by the MUI halal logo and in terms of the main raw materials or additional ingredients, it is difficult to declare the origin of the ingredients to be halal. In fact, the clarity of a food product is the most important thing so that consumers know that the product they are consuming is a halal product and the origin of the ingredients is clear. This study uses a type of normative legal research with a statute approach and a textual approach. This research was approved to be conducted on 19 November 2021, while this research took place on 1 March 2022 BPJPH established a new halal label that applies nationally. For this reason, with this stipulation there is a transfer of the authority of the institution that issues halal certificates from the LPPOM-MUI institution to BPJPH under the Ministry of Religion, this design change is part of the transfer of authority for halal certificates to BPJPH. The results of the study show that: First, the production activities of the three SMEs in Pamekasan, namely UD. Nayla AZ, Kitchen AIM Talang Siring, in the process of procuring materials to distribution, which was carried out in practice, there were no activities and facilities contaminated with unclean/unlawful objects, apart from that no critical activities were found that could cause a product to be unlawful. Whereas at Tarqiyah in its critical activity it was found that the use of raw materials in the form of petis did not have a halal label. Second, the results of the analysis that the researchers carried out using MUI fatwa No. 4 of 2003 concerning the standardization of halal fatwa indicates that MSME products at Tarqiyah, namely BAPER, do not comply with 100% halal principles in accordance with LPPOM-MUI principles. Because the raw materials used are not labeled halal, so the origin of the materials, processes, and facilities used is not known, not only that, materials that are not labeled halal are also included in critical activities that cause a product to be non-halal.
