Abstract

Stunting or short stature is a term used for children whose height is below average (<-2 SD) of the same sex, chronological age and ideally from the same racial-ethnic group. Stunting can cause children to experience health problems during their growth and development, even irreversible. In the short term, stunting causes a slowdown in the process of growth and development and in the long term it will have an impact on cognitive aspects and the possibility of non-communicable diseases. Therefore, the incidence of stunting is an indicator of child welfare in a country. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the Bakunase Community Health Center, Kupang City. This type of research is an analytical survey, with a case control design. The number of samples was 136 people which were divided into 68 case groups and 68 control groups. The data analysis technique used the chi-square statistical test. The results showed that there was a relationship between mother's knowledge (p value = 0.000, OR = 6.667), mother's attitude (p value = 0.000, OR = 5.808), mother's parenting style (p value = 0.000, OR = 5.093), living environment ( p value = 0.000, OR = 7.538), and the incidence of diarrhea (p value = 0.002, OR = .3.175) with the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the Working Area of the Bakunase Health Center, Kupang City. Therefore, health promotion and cross-sector cooperation are needed to overcome the problem of stunting.

Abstract

Hemodialysis is a tool that patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) need to replace damaged kidney function. Compliance with hemodialysis plays an important role in the patient's health condition. Since 2021, the number of hemodialysis patients at RSUD Prof.DR.W.Z. Johanes, from 108 patients to around 85 patients remaining in 2022. This study aims to provide an overview of CKD patients' compliance in undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD Prof.DR.W.Z. John. This type of research is qualitative with a case study approach. Eight key informants and two supporting informants using purposive sampling. The research results showed that generally, hemodialysis compliance among informants was good. Predisposing factors, knowledge about hemodialysis and its risks, motivation to comply with hemodialysis such as the hope of health, not wanting to give up, want to work, and also the desire to still live with the family as well as belief in the benefits of hemodialysis encouraging informants to be more compliant. Supporting factors such as completeness of facilities and affordability of access to services encourage more optimal hemodialysis. Reinforcing factors such as emotional, instrumental, and information support provided by family and health workers increase informants' compliance with hemodialysis. Hemodialysis units can improve and maintain the quality of hemodialysis facilities and services. Existing health workers can increase patient knowledge and motivation by maintaining positive communication during the hemodialysis process. The family can be a positive companion for the fulfillment of hemodialysis patients. Hemodialysis patients must maintain and improve their physical and mental condition.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (2018) shows that about 1.13 billion people in the world have hypertension, and it is estimated that by 2025 there will be 1.5 billion people affected by hypertension. Hypertension cases at the Wae Nakeng Health Center in 2021 were 483 cases and increased in 2022 by 582 cases. Hypertensive visits in the age group of 20–54 years at the Wae Nakeng health center in 2022 were high, amounting to 1,184 visits. This study was observational-analytic using a case-control research design. Sampling in this study was divided into two groups, namely the case group using simple random sampling techniques and the control group using purposive sampling techniques using matching methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the incidence of hypertension at the age of 20–54 years in the working area of the Wae Nakeng Health Center, West Manggarai Regency, in 2022. The sample size in this study was 114 samples, consisting of 57 case samples and 57 control samples. The results of this study showed that the factors that influenced the incidence of hypertension were coffee consumption (p = 0.045, OR = 2.827), alcohol consumption (p = 0.021, OR = 2.654), and smoking (p = 0.039, OR = 2.352), while factors that did not affect the incidence of hypertension were obesity (p = 0.651). People are expected to carry out health checks at the nearest health service facilities and can adopt a healthy lifestyle from an early age.

Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease that has the potential for an epidemic. Based on data from the Alor District Health Service, positive malaria cases in 2020 212 cases, in 2021 there were 53 cases, and in 2022 there were 411 cases. The research aims to analyze the risk factors that influence the incidence of malaria in the Moru Health Center working area. This research is an analytical observational study with a case-control study research design. The research was conducted in the Moru Community Health Center working area, Alor Regency. The population in this study, namely the case population, is people who tested positive for malaria during laboratory examination and the control population is people who tested negative for malaria during laboratory examination. The samples in this study were 76 case samples and 76 control samples with a ratio of 1:1 obtained using a simple random sampling technique—data collection through interviews and observations. The results of the study showed the influence of knowledge (p=0.004; OR=2.429), use of wire mesh (p=0.001; OR=3.0), the presence of mosquito breeding places (p=0.010; OR=2.216) and the habit of doing activities outside the home at night. (p=0.004; OR=2.412) on the incidence of malaria in the Moru Health Center working area. It is hoped that the public will increase their knowledge by participating in outreach or counseling activities and taking steps to prevent mosquito bites, such as wearing long-sleeved shirts and trousers when leaving the house at night and installing wire mesh on ventilation.
