Abstract

Although international relations have experienced many rapid developments, especially since the end of the Cold War and increasing interdependence as a result of globalization, it cannot be denied that the issue of peace and security remains a central issue. So, it is natural that developments on this issue continue to get significant recognition from every country, including Indonesia which continues to prove its desire to be able to contribute better. This is in line with one of the three objectives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, namely Indonesia's leadership and role in influential international cooperation and can be demonstrated among them through the role of initiator, mediator and facilitator. Indonesia's contribution to peace and security issues concretely can be seen from Indonesia's success in becoming a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2019-2020. Under the leadership of Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi since 2014 until now, there is an interesting aspect to be discussed but still in the same context, that is Indonesia's initiative to consistently initiate the promotion of the role of women in the issue of world peace and security.

Abstract

This paper writes about the management of plastic waste in Southeast Sulawesi Province, a case study in Muna and Buton Regencies. This activity is in the form of sharing the author's knowledge with the Indonesian City Diplomacy Community partners in 2020-2021. This activity uses observation, socialization and interview methods to build the community's mindset. The author found that plastic waste management activities in Muna and Buton have been maximized. This is done because the community upholds the value of morality as a form of social responsibility. Cultural values as the foundation of society in protecting the sea. This means that the authors in sharing knowledge only confirm community activities and provide little knowledge to the community. The community is very aware of protecting the sea as part of their identity, branding, and representation of toughness. The sea is the ancestral medium of the community that must be preserved as a form of appreciation. Because the sea is the source of the local community's economy. So, if the nature is damaged, it will damage the economy of the surrounding community. Dissemination and sharing of knowledge are effective because the community does not need to be equipped with much in protecting the sea. Cultural experience and moral principles guide them to be able to make the sea an asset of the future. The sea is the way humans relate to nature, natural resources.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the meanings and strategies for managing interreligious relationship in order to create collective awareness and harmony in multicultural religious communities. The research used an exploratory qualitative method. Data collection techniques are observation, empirical review and interviews. The results obtained are that the community in West Muna is very multicultural. This happened as a result of a government program which made the area a migration area for Balinese, Javanese and Bugis residents. This assimilation makes West Muna multicultural, consisting of multiple religions, tribes and ethnicities. However, what happened there actually created harmony and kinship between religious, ethical and cultural communities. This happens because they have the idea of collective social construction or collective identity. This love creates solidarity and pluralist awareness so that it becomes a cosmopolitan form in West Muna. Empirically, there has never been any social and political conflict in West Muna even though we entered the political year. This cannot be separated from the cultural awareness and cultural identity of the Muna people. This identity becomes a guide for relationships between them and can maintain harmony and harmony

Abstract

The present study aims to identify and analyse the rational factors considered by France in responding to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In response, France pursued a rational foreign policy, taking into account a number of factors, both national and personal. The present study employs a qualitative research method, adopting a case study approach. The present study employs secondary data and a process of literature review. The analysis of data is a process which encompasses two fundamental techniques: data sufficiency and testing processes. This study employs a comprehensive literature review to identify discrepancies and variations with previous research. The findings of this study demonstrate that the factors considered in French foreign policy are cognitive psychology and rational calculation. These two elements were analysed and became the primary considerations for France in formulating policies to support Ukraine over Russia. This was deduced from meticulous calculations in the disciplines of economics, politics and security. The calculations demonstrated that France's foreign policy was characterised by a high degree of rationality, underscoring the substantial ramifications of the decision to abstain from providing support to Ukraine. France has the prerogative to disregard specific non-compensatory factors, even if these factors ultimately prove advantageous to France. For instance, there are economic advantages to be gained, particularly in the context of collaboration with Russia. Consequently, this research will be of particular interest to scholars in the field of foreign policy.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the contributions of state and non-state actors in improving the quality of education in Indonesia, focusing on Japan as the state actor and The Japan Foundation as the non-state actor. Previous studies have mainly emphasized the economic and political aspects of Indonesia–Japan relations, while the educational dimension has received relatively less attention. Therefore, this study addresses that gap by analyzing education as an instrument of soft power and institutional coordination in bilateral relations. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining a survey of 100 International Relations students, interviews, and literature review. The analysis is grounded in Nye’s soft power theory and institutional coordination framework. The findings reveal that Japan’s contribution to Indonesia’s education sector is realized through educational, financial, and technological assistance, as well as scholarship programs. Meanwhile, The Japan Foundation fosters a cultural and learning ecosystem through language courses, exchange programs, and the promotion of popular culture. These findings emphasize that the collaboration between state and non-state actors not only strengthens the quality of education in Indonesia but also represents an effective model of educational diplomacy in international relations. The academic contribution of this study lies in emphasizing education as a strategic soft power instrument to deepen bilateral relations and build long-term strategic trust.
