Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the influence of transformational leadership and work motivation on employee performance, emphasizing the mediating role of work discipline. Transformational leadership refers to a leader’s ability to inspire, encourage, and motivate members to achieve optimal performance and continuous improvement. The objectives of this research are sevenfold: (i) to analyze the influence of transformational leadership on performance, (ii) to examine the effect of work motivation on performance, (iii) to assess the relationship between transformational leadership and work discipline, (iv) to determine the influence of work motivation on work discipline, (v) to evaluate the effect of work discipline on performance, (vi) to investigate how transformational leadership impacts performance through work discipline, and (vii) to explore how work motivation affects performance through work discipline. The study adopts a descriptive quantitative approach, involving 300 police personnel as respondents. Sampling was conducted using the Slovin formula with proportional random sampling to ensure balanced representation across strata or regions. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method. The results indicate that transformational leadership and work motivation both have a positive and significant effect on performance. Work discipline also plays a vital role in enhancing performance directly. Additionally, work motivation significantly contributes to improving work discipline. The findings further reveal that transformational leadership indirectly improves performance through the mediating effect of work discipline. Overall, the study underscores the importance of transformational leadership and motivation as key drivers in fostering disciplined behavior and optimizing employee performance within law enforcement organizations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of integrity, competence, organizational communication, and work environment on employee performance, with work motivation and organizational commitment as mediating variables, in Islamic banks in Malang City, East Java. A quantitative explanatory research approach was employed. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to 150 employees of an Islamic bank, selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that competence and organizational communication have positive and significant effects on employee performance, while integrity and work environment do not have a significant direct effect on performance. However, all four variables—integrity, competence, organizational communication, and work environment—have positive and significant effects on work motivation and organizational commitment. Work motivation and organizational commitment are also proven to have positive and significant effects on employee performance. Mediation analysis reveals that work motivation and organizational commitment fully mediate the effects of integrity and work environment on employee performance, and partially mediate the effects of competence and organizational communication on performance. These findings emphasize that improving employee performance in Islamic banks depends not only on technical competence and effective communication, but also on the organization’s ability to foster integrity, create a supportive work environment, and systematically manage employee motivation and commitment

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of integrity, competence, and work environment on employee performance at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) in the Malang Raya area, with work motivation and organizational commitment as mediating variables. The study employed a quantitative, explanatory design. Data were collected from 90 BSI employees through a questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that integrity (β = 0.173; p = 0.027), competence (β = 0.158; p = 0.043), and work environment (β = 0.189; p = 0.013) have positive and significant effects on employee performance. In addition, work motivation (β = 0.336; p < 0.001) and organizational commitment (β = 0.358; p < 0.001) also significantly influence employee performance. Mediation analysis shows that work motivation and organizational commitment act as significant partial mediators, with indirect effect coefficients ranging from 0.090 to 0.117. The coefficient of determination indicates that the proposed model explains 70.3% of the variance in employee performance (R² = 0.703). This study contributes theoretically by developing a dual-mediation employee performance model in the context of Islamic banking and provides practical implications for human resource management at Bank Syariah Indonesia.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology necessitates organizational transformation, compelling state-owned enterprises like PT PLN (Persero) to adopt digital services such as the Yanbung Mobile application. However, its implementation at UP3 Situbondo has yielded inconsistent employee performance outcomes, highlighting a gap in understanding the precise mechanisms at play. This study aims to analyze the effect of digitalization implementation and digital leadership style on employee performance, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable. Using an explanatory quantitative design, data was collected via questionnaires from all 81 Customer Connection Service Officers at PT PLN UP3 Situbondo. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach. The results indicate that digital leadership style has a significant positive direct effect on employee performance. While digitalization implementation significantly increases organizational commitment, it does not directly improve performance. Furthermore, organizational commitment does not significantly affect performance nor mediate the relationships between the independent variables and performance. These findings underscore the paramount importance of competent digital leadership over mere technological adoption in driving performance during digital transformation.

Abstract

High turnover intention among private school teachers poses a serious challenge to educational continuity, particularly in regions with limited retention capacity such as Madura Island. This study examines the effects of resilience and life demands on turnover intention, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected through a structured survey of 100 private school teachers selected via proportional random sampling across four regencies on Madura Island. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that organizational commitment significantly reduces turnover intention and fully mediates the effects of resilience and life demands. These results underscore the critical role of organizational commitment in shaping teachers’ retention decisions.
