Abstract

Sanggau Regency is a highland area that has a rough topography with a relief of undulating hills, causing the potential for landslides. One of the steps to reduce the impact of landslides is to identify the characteristics of landslide-prone areas by conducting magnetic susceptibility analysis in landslide-prone areas. This analysis is a method to identify landslide indicators based on their magnetic properties. This method identifies landslide potential through superparamagnetic grains on the surface soil. The presence of the grain can be known from the frequency-dependent susceptibility . The study was conducted on 40 soil samples taken at a 20-30 cm depth at Jalan Sabang Merah, Sanggau Regency. The results showed that the average values of low-frequency  and high-frequency  were 5.555 cm3/g and 5.478 cm3/g, respectively. A total of 36 soil samples have a  percentage of 0% (containing less than 10% superparamagnetic grains), two soil samples have a  percentage of 3.51% and 6.45%, respectively (containing 10%-75% superparamagnetic grains, and two samples have a  percentage of 10.48%-12.63% (containing more than 75% superparamagnetic grains). The interpretation results show that soil samples with more than 75% superparamagnetic grains indicate landslide-prone areas in the study site; thus, the areas suspected to have a high level of vulnerability are in the northeastern and southwestern parts of the study site.

Abstract

Tulungagung and Trenggalek are two regencies located south of Java Island with quite complex geological conditions because they are located in the Southern Mountains area. This study aims to identify the presence of faults based on the magnetic anomaly value of the Tulungagung sheet. The presence of faults at the research site were determined based on three lines on the regional magnetic anomaly using First Horizontal Derivative (FHD) and Second Vertical Derivative (SVD) derivative analyses. The results show that the regional magnetic anomaly is -210.7 nT to 113.2 nT. Line A-A' identified two fault locations at a distance of 15 km and 27 km from the line's starting point. Line B-B' identified three fault locations at a distance of 4 km, 27 km, and 45 km from the line's starting point. Line C-C' identified three fault locations at 10 km, 22 km, and 42 km from the line's starting point. The interpretation results also obtained subsurface lithology in the Alluvium Formation, Arjosari-Mandalika Formation, Wungkal Limestone Formation, and Malihan Rock Formation.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Building damage caused by earthquakes is more prevalent in the sedimentary areas of Yogyakarta City compared to the hilly regions of Wonosari and Kulonprogo, which have harder soil layers. The campus of Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa (UST) is one of the campuses located in Yogyakarta City, where the regional geology is dominated by the Merapi Young Volcanic Deposits Formation. The UST campus area is vulnerable to earthquakes due to its proximity to an active seismic zone, making earthquake vulnerability mapping based on microseismic data an important necessity to support disaster mitigation efforts. The microseismic method was used in this study, while data analysis employed the Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR). Microseismic measurements were chosen because they have the advantage of not damaging the surface conditions of the ground, thus preserving the environment, and are easy to use in urban areas. The research method stages include survey design, field data collection, data processing and interpretation, and the creation of earthquake vulnerability maps. Data points were collected from 7 locations covering the Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa campus area. The research results indicate that the study area has a dominant frequency value ranging from 1.10 to 2.74 Hz. Meanwhile, the amplification value ranges from 1.25 to 2.2. The sediment thickness of the study area ranges from 32 to 79 meters. The Seismic Vulnerability Index (Kg) of the study area ranges from 0.57 to 4 on a low to high scale. Based on the dominant frequency values, amplification, and seismic vulnerability index, the areas of the UST campus that are more vulnerable to earthquakes are the northern, eastern, and central parts, while the southern part is relatively safer.

Abstract

West Kalimantan Province is one of the largest bauxite-producing areas in Indonesia, with total reserves of 0.85 billion tons from 1.26 billion tons of national reserves. One of the areas with potential bauxite in Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan, is Piasak Village. Estimating bauxite resources is an essential step in identifying reserves in a mining area. This study aims to estimate the volume of laterite bauxite in Piasak Village, Sanggau Regency. This study applies the ordinary kriging estimation method based on test pit samples at 47 locations. Data processing was conducted using QGIS and Saga GIS software. The statistics calculation of bauxite deposit thickness data obtained a coefficient of variation of 0.2, indicating that the samples were homogeneous. The spherical semivariogram model was used for the kriging estimation process of bauxite deposit thickness because it had the smallest root mean square error. The parameter values for nugget, sill, and range were 0.08 m2, 1.15 m2, and 100.9 m, respectively. The estimation results show that the volume of laterite bauxite at the study site is 180,051 m3, while the volume of overburden is 56,796 m3.
