Abstract

Phonological awareness is ability to segment the syllables and phonemes heard in speech. It is also the most important behavioral index to measure the development of reading skill. Children who had problems or impairments in phonological awareness will perform high-risk for reading skill mastery which is the most important skill in early education level. The current study aims to evaluate the effect of Word-Sound Therapy in improving phonological awareness and speech production in single word segment level. The subject of the study is a child, 5 years of age, who met the diagnostic criterias for Phonological Disorder according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR). The Word-Sound Therapy is used as an intervention which include series of phonological awareness tasks and inserting the speech production training between the phonological awareness activities to improve phonemic awareness. This research is using a multiple baseline across behavior design. The qualitative data analysis was conducted using behavioral approach, Response Antecedents Consequences-Strength (RAC-S). Visual inspection was also used to observe the emergence of target behaviors. Result showed that Word-Sound Therapy is improving child’s ability in identifying similarity and analyze the last phoneme in words. Result also showed that this therapy could be used for children at minimum 5 years of age, had normal IQ, and needs a phonological awareness intervention especially focused in rhyme detection and last phoneme isolation.

Abstract

Elderly women experience loneliness related to unexpected situations of partner loss (husband's death). Loneliness can have an impact on subjective well-being, life satisfaction, quality of life, mental and physical health, and even death. The purpose of this study was to describe and understand experiences related to loneliness for elderly widows. The subjects involved were 6 (six) widows due to the death of their husbands (widowed), widows of more than 1 year, and no history of psychological disorders. Methods of data collection using interviews and observation. This study resulted in the conclusion that an elderly widow can experience loneliness due to the loss of a spouse who is taken away by death. Subjective well-being and perceived life satisfaction are the results of a religious coping strategy that is effective in overcoming loneliness experienced. When feelings of losing a spouse can be overcome by religious behavior, enthusiasm for survival and re-establishing social interaction, the elderly can feel well-being and life satisfaction.

Adversity quotient play an important role in the life of every student of Islamic boarding school, especially Quran reciter student. The life of the boarding school with strict regulations and a busy schedule of activities requires students to have a high adversity quotient. Only students who have the ability to control themselves and good interpersonal relationships can survive in the boarding school. This study aimed to test the effect of self-regulation and peer attachment on the adversity quotient of Quran reciter students. There were 127 students of Islamic boarding school situated in Ngaliyan Sub-district, Semarang City, involved as the samples, which were collected using sampling quota technique. The data were collected using self-regulation scale, peer attachment scale, and adversity quotient scale, and were analyzed using multiple regression technique. The result of the analysis showed that self-regulation and peer attachment have simultaneous and partial effects on adversity quotient. Simultaneously the two independent variables affect the adversity quotient by 40.9%, while partially self regulation can affect the adversity quotient greater, that is by 62.1%, and peer attachment affects by 12.8%. Activities that are oriented towards increasing self-regulation of students and increasing peer-attachment among students become important implications of the results of research.

Abstract

Abstract Human Resources is a determinant of the success of the industry, especially in the service sector. Hospitals as a service industry need a strategy to motivate employees to show the best performance. The purpose of this study was to do an empirical comparison between the work motivation of employees at Roemani Muhammadiyah Hospital, which provides a religious development program for its employees, and employees at Dr. RSJD. Amino Gondohutomo who does not provide religious training programs for his employees. Quantitative research method uses a comparative test (t-test) conducted on 100 subjects. Subjects were divided into two groups, each consisting of 50 people who were randomly selected from both research locations. The results of the t-test resulted in a value of t = 0.003 (p = 0.05) so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in terms of work motivation for hospital employees who receive a religious training program and those who do not. So, it is important for companies or institutions to pay attention to the factor of religiosity in the workplace because it can have an impact on employee motivation and performance. Abstract

Children are in the early stage of learning. The commonly used term: “the golden age” refers to many advantages in learning process, because a child is on their peak of brain development. One of children’s development task is to prepare to learn to read, it means they need to be stimulated. Children have to master some basics in order to be able to read. As in learning to read Quran, children need to recognize the Arabic letters in Quran, called hijaiyah letters. There are 30 hijaiyah letters, more than the letters in the alphabet. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of digital multimedia-based multisensory methods in improving hijaiyah letters recognition on children at age 4 to 5 years old. The multisensory method is a well-known method to teach reading in children. In this study, multisensory method was implemented by using digital multimedia resources (computer and gadget) in order to gain more advantages in multimedia learning. The experiment was using the pretest-posttest control group design, involving 8 children each, in experiment and control groups. Result shows that there is significant difference between the pretest and posttest score in experiment group, but not in the control group. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test shows significance Asymp.Sig. at 0.012 (<0.05). The Mann-Whitney (U-Test) also shows significance Exact.Sig. at 0.015 (<0.05), by comparing the posttest score between experiment and control group. It shows evidence that the method is effective to improve hijaiyah letter recognition skill in early childhood.

Abstract

Amidst the social-cultural predominance of male ulama in the religious context, female ulama play important roles and yet are often trapped in life-role complexity and gender bias, as they have a responsibility in both the domestic and public domains. This study aims to explore the meaning of the experience of gratitude among female ulama based on the perspective of positive psychology, with reference to the PERMA (Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationship, Meaning, and Accomplishment) model, with further interpretation of gratitude (shukr) from Sufi psychology. Using a qualitative (phenomenological) approach, we held online in-depth interviews with five female ulama participants from across Indonesia and Germany. The research demonstrates the interconnection between themes related to gratitude according to PERMA-Model and the embodiment of gratitude (shukr) in Sufi psychology. These findings provide evidence to support the practical implication of the integrative intervention of positive and Sufi psychology for clinical purposes or to promote flourishing and well-being among women.

Abstract

Impulsive buying is a purchase that is caused by an emotional impulse that arises in the moment and is carried out spontaneously, without planning and without thinking about the consequences after the purchase of a product. The purpose of this study is to empirically test the intensity of access to Tik-Tok and electronic word of mouth: their role in impulse buying. The method used is quantitative with non-probability sampling techniques. The sample of this study came from young adults, a total of 354 people between the ages of 19 and 35. While the data analysis technique used in this study is the classical assumption test and hypothesis testing, which is processed with the help of SPSS software version 25. The results of the analysis show that the intensity of access to Tik-Tok and electronic word-of-mouth partially plays a significant role in impulse buying. At the same time, it shows that the intensity of access to Tik-Tok and electronic word of mouth plays a role of 29.4% on impulsive buying and 70.6% is influenced by variables outside this study. This study suggests that young adults reduce the intensity of access to Tik-Tok and electronic word of mouth in order to avoid impulsive buying behaviour
