Abstract

Abstract: The transformation of educational management is strategic in addressing contemporary challenges, particularly within Islamic institutions. This study analyzes the integration of Islamic banking values trust, justice, transparency, and social responsibility into educational management and pedagogical leadership, viewed through Islamic economics. Using a qualitative literature review, data were gathered from academic journals, books, and relevant publications, then analyzed via reduction, categorization, and thematic synthesis. Findings indicate that Islamic banking values significantly drive transformation in governance, organizational culture, and human resource development. Furthermore, Islamic economics-based pedagogical leadership bridges the gap between normative vision and operational practice, fostering a participatory, fair, and sustainable environment. However, challenges remain in fully internalizing these values into policies and evaluation mechanisms. The study concludes that integrating Islamic banking principles with pedagogical leadership is a strategic approach for transforming educational management. These findings contribute to the development of Islamic educational management theory and offer practical implications for strengthening value-based institutional governance and leadership.

Abstract

This study examines the reconfiguration of education systems in the 21st century by emphasizing the interconnected roles of innovation, equity, and global transformation. The research employs a qualitative approach with a literature-based design to analyze contemporary educational shifts through academic publications and official government data. The findings reveal that educational innovation, particularly through digital technology integration and adaptive pedagogical models, serves as a primary catalyst for systemic transformation. However, disparities in access remain evident, as indicated by the significant decline in school participation rates from 99.19% among children aged 7–12 to 29.01% among young adults aged 19–23 in Indonesia, highlighting structural challenges in sustaining educational continuity. The study further identifies that global transformation has reshaped educational priorities, requiring institutions to incorporate 21st-century competencies, including critical thinking, digital literacy, and cross-cultural understanding. Despite progress in digital adoption, unequal infrastructure distribution and varying levels of institutional readiness continue to hinder inclusive implementation. The discussion underscores that successful education system reconfiguration requires a holistic and integrated approach involving policy alignment, capacity building, and technological accessibility. The study concludes that an adaptive, inclusive, and innovation-driven education system is essential for enhancing global competitiveness while reducing social inequalities. These findings contribute to the broader discourse on sustainable education development by providing a conceptual and empirical foundation for policymakers and educational institutions to design resilient and future-oriented systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the global research trends on Islamic banking, political economy, and financial development using a quantitative bibliometric approach. Data were collected from the Scopus database, covering 541 publications published between 2010 and 2025. The dataset was analyzed using VOSviewer to identify the intellectual structure, thematic evolution, and research gaps within the field. The results show a total of 15,632 citations, with an average of 28.88 citations per document and an h-index of 52, indicating a strong academic impact. Keyword co-occurrence analysis identified 104 significant keywords (minimum occurrence: 5), forming five major clusters, with dominant themes including Islamic banking (178 occurrences), financial development (132), and economic growth (119). The network visualization reveals a total link strength exceeding 3,400, reflecting a highly interconnected research structure. Density visualization confirms that financial development and banking performance are the most concentrated research areas, while political economy and innovation-related themes remain less explored. Furthermore, overlay visualization indicates a temporal shift toward emerging topics such as fintech (average year 2022.6), sustainability (2021.9), and ESG (2023.1), although their occurrence levels remain relatively low (12–28). These findings suggest that while Islamic banking has been extensively studied in relation to financial growth, the integration of political economy perspectives and technological innovation is still limited. This study contributes by providing a comprehensive mapping of research trends and identifying critical gaps for future investigation, particularly in strengthening interdisciplinary linkages to support sustainable financial development.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of the Islamic finance industry has not always been accompanied by adequate Islamic economic literacy among society, creating a gap between institutional development and ethical economic awareness. Education therefore, plays a strategic role in strengthening value-based economic understanding grounded in Islamic principles. This study aims to analyze how education contributes to the development of Islamic economic literacy and how such literacy shapes ethical economic awareness that supports inclusive development. This research adopts an interpretivist–constructivist paradigm using a qualitative multi-site design conducted in three Islamic-based educational institutions implementing Islamic economics in their curriculum. Data were collected from eighteen participants, consisting of educators, students, and curriculum managers through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using a constructivist thematic approach to explore the process of value internalization within pedagogical interactions. The findings reveal a sequential pathway in which value-based pedagogical interaction fosters multidimensional Islamic economic literacy encompassing cognitive, affective, and normative dimensions. This literacy subsequently develops ethical economic awareness characterized by moral reasoning, critical evaluation of interest-based financial practices, and a commitment to justice-oriented economic behavior. Furthermore, ethical awareness encourages an inclusive economic orientation reflected in support for cooperative models, profit-sharing practices, and community-based economic initiatives. The study proposes a conceptual framework linking educational meaning-making processes, Islamic economic literacy, ethical consciousness, and inclusive development. These findings highlight the importance of dialogical, reflective, and context-based learning approaches in Islamic economic education to move beyond informational teaching toward value-driven learning that promotes socially responsible economic behavior.
