Abstract

This study addresses the urgency of improving operational efficiency and reducing voyage costs for service-user vessels operating in the strategic Malacca and Singapore Straits. It aims to examine the influence of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Annex 375 policy and exceptional pilotage services on operational efficiency and their implications for voyage costs. Adopting a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected through surveys using questionnaires distributed online and offline, supported by documentation. The research population comprised all vessels served in 2024, with a sample of 142 respondents—vessel officers (captains, chief mates, and chief engineers) directly involved in navigation and pilotage services—selected using Slovin's formula. Data analysis employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via SmartPLS. Results reveal that both the IMO Annex 375 policy and exceptional pilotage services significantly enhance operational efficiency, which in turn positively reduces voyage costs. These findings highlight that implementing international maritime policies and optimizing pilotage services can strategically improve port competitiveness and user satisfaction. The study recommends aligning pilotage service SOPs with IMO standards and strengthening pilotage personnel capabilities to meet the challenges of increasingly complex and competitive global shipping

Abstract

Digital transformation in the port sector is a strategic step to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in services. One concrete example of this transformation is the implementation of the Si-PDKT (Ship Document Inspection System) application, which is applied by the Cirebon Class II KSOP. This application aims to accelerate the clearance in process for ships and supports the improvement of service quality and accountability in loading and unloading services. However, in practice, various obstacles are still found, such as limitations in system integration, human resource readiness, and resistance to new technology usage. This study aims to analyze the effect of the digitalization system (X1) and the clearance in process (X2) on service quality (Y) and its implications for the accountability of loading and unloading services (Z) at Cirebon Port. The approach used is explanatory quantitative with data collection through questionnaires from port service users. Data analysis is carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the SmartPLS software, complemented by SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the implementation of the Si-PDKT application. The results of the study show that the digitalization system and the clearance in process have a positive and significant impact on service quality. Furthermore, service quality acts as a mediating variable that strengthens the influence of the digitalization system and clearance in on the accountability of loading and unloading services. The SWOT analysis also reveals that the application of Si-PDKT has great potential to be optimized, especially through improved system integration, human resource training, and adaptive regulatory support. This research provides strategic contributions to the development of smart port-based port services and serves as a reference for KSOP and other port stakeholders in formulating policies to improve public services that are efficient and accountable in the digital era

Abstract

In this instance, researchers discovered that poor communication frequently happens between managers and staff. Leaders typically exhibit dominance, with little employee involvement, and make all decisions for the good of the organization. This style of leadership works better in newer firms where the hired staff members are experts in their disciplines and lack much experience performing their jobs. This study employs a qualitative methodology. Research on the circumstances of natural things is done using qualitative research, which is grounded on postpositivism. Use triangulation data collection methods, inductive or qualitative data analysis, and a focus on meaning rather than generalization. A qualitative approach is a kind of research wherein core and story analysis is conducted without the use of data, circumstances, descriptions, or in-depth interviews. The interview's findings indicate that employees' input is still not included when making decisions, which reduces their sense of independence. The capacity for motivation is excellent since it provides rewards annually and supports staff members in the event of difficulties. Direct communication skills are also excellent, although they are frequently misinterpreted when conveyed through the media. At PT Sari Incofood Corporation, a blended leadership style is adopted to raise staff performance. Performance metrics demonstrate how an autocratic leadership style can enhance worker performance, and decision-making that puts the leader's preferences ahead of those of the workforce is indicative of this type of leadership.Kata kunci:  Kepemimpinan, Komunikasi, Kinerja Karyawan

Abstract

Humans always use symbols in carrying out their lives as a medium for communicating with the environment, both social and physical. Research on the meaning of the symbols of the Pakpak Inculturative Church Building on the Appreciation of Faith in the Liturgy at Stasi Blessed Dionysius Sumbul was carried out to explain the extent of the people's knowledge about the symbols in the inculturative building and how the inculturative building influences the appreciation of the faith in the liturgy of the people. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with three data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews and documentation. Symbols are interpreted as signs or symbols that contain meaning for understanding the context of beliefs and religions of traditional society. In this research, it was found that the symbols in the Pakpak inculturative church building encouraged the appreciation of the people's faith aesthetically, psychologically and religiously, where it was concluded that the people actually did not fully know the meaning of the symbols in the inculturative church building. However, behind this, people are still able to experience different experiences of faith when worshiping in churches with different models and nuances.
