Abstract

The increasingly competitive world of work demands that workers possess not only technical competence but also a sound understanding of professional ethics. Students at the Mitra Sauri Job Training Institute (LPK), as prospective workers, need to be equipped with professional ethical values to enable them to behave professionally, responsibly, and with integrity in the workplace. This Community Service activity aims to improve students' understanding of professional ethics as a preparation for entering the workforce. The activity implementation method includes counseling, interactive lectures, discussions, and case studies related to the application of professional ethics in the workplace. The material presented includes the definition of professional ethics, professional attitudes and behavior, work discipline, responsibility, and communication ethics in the workplace. Evaluation of the activity was carried out through questions and answers and measuring participants' understanding before and after the activity. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the importance of professional ethics and their awareness to apply it in the workplace. It is hoped that this activity can contribute to developing human resources who are work-ready, professional, and ethical.

Abstract

Latarbelakang: Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian (SKCK) memiliki kekuatan hukum yang berlaku secara nasional, termasuk bagi mantan narapidana, dengan mencantumkan riwayat hukum pemiliknya. Penerbitan SKCK oleh Polri berdasarkan Perkap Nomor 6 Tahun 2023 menimbulkan implikasi hukum terhadap pencalonan anggota legislatif. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kekuatan hukum penerbitan SKCK bagi calon legislatif yang pernah melakukan tindak pidana, penerapan Perkap No. 6 Tahun 2023 di Polrestabes Medan, serta peran KPU dalam memastikan pemenuhan kriteria calon legislatif. Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah normatif-empiris melalui wawancara dan analisis bahan hukum primer serta sekunder. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Perkap No. 6 Tahun 2023 menjadi acuan dalam verifikasi keabsahan SKCK dan integritas calon legislatif. Kesimpulan: SKCK memiliki peran penting sebagai alat verifikasi administratif yang mendukung proses seleksi calon legislatif secara objektif. Penerapan Perkap Nomor 6 Tahun 2023 membantu menjamin integritas proses pencalonan tanpa mengabaikan hak politik warga negara yang telah menjalani sanksi pidana sesuai ketentuan hukum.

Abstract

This research examines how comprehensive maritime education prepares professionals for supply chain economic management and global trade impact assessment. Through qualitative analysis of ten Nautical Deck Engineering graduates with ten-year vocational maritime education and current leadership positions in shipping industries, the study investigates educational preparation effectiveness for economic competency development. The research employs phenomenological analysis, thematic examination, and narrative synthesis to understand professional competency evolution from educational foundation through career advancement. Results demonstrate exceptional performance across measured competency dimensions, with Supply Chain Economic Performance Index scores of 4.7 and Global Trade Economic Integration Coefficient scores of 4.6 out of 5.0. Participants generated $69.5 million annual economic value through supply chain optimization, cost reduction, and strategic positioning improvements. Thematic analysis reveals four primary competency development categories: educational foundation excellence, professional competency evolution, supply chain economic optimization, and global trade impact understanding. The findings indicate that comprehensive maritime education effectively develops analytical capabilities, strategic thinking competencies, and economic understanding essential for professional excellence in supply chain management contexts, providing substantial return on investment in maritime education and professional development.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research investigated IoT-integrated curriculum effectiveness for maritime competency-based education, addressing workforce preparation needs for technology-intensive operations. Specialized curricular modules incorporating authentic water quality monitoring data from facility IoT systems were implemented with experimental groups (n=45) while control groups (n=42) received traditional instruction. Quantitative assessment revealed statistically significant learning advantages for experimental students across digital literacy (d=1.12), data interpretation (d=1.28), and evidence-based decision-making (d=0.98) competencies. Experimental group competency achievement rates reached 87.3% versus 68.5% for controls (p<.001), representing substantial advancement toward STCW standards. Focus group discussions with students (n=48) revealed enhanced perceived learning authenticity, career relevance, and technology competency development. Instructor interviews (n=8) confirmed observable learning quality improvements while identifying professional development and curricular adaptation requirements. Thematic analysis demonstrated that authentic data engagement catalyzed deeper analytical thinking, sustained engagement, and boundary-crossing learning connecting formal instruction with operational awareness. The research establishes empirical foundation for IoT-integrated pedagogy as effective technology-enhanced learning approach developing critical competencies for contemporary maritime workforce.

Abstract

Business competition in the sea transportation sector requires companies to continue to innovate and improve operational efficiency in order to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty. This study aims to provide the influence of service innovation and operational efficiency on customer satisfaction and remind him of customer loyalty at PT Balancia Ship Agency. Research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through questionnaires distributed to company customers. The analysis results show that both service innovations and operational efficiency have a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction is also proven to mediate the relationship between service innovation and operational efficiency of customer loyalty. This finding shows that efficient service and operational improvement strategies are very important in building long term relationships with customers, while increasing the competitiveness of the company in the shipping industry.

Abstract

In the context of maintenance and overhaul carried out when a machine has reached the running hour limit, it is necessary to prepare spare parts according to the manual book instructions to replace the engine parts that must be replaced in order to support the smooth running of the overhaul so that no damage occurs after the diesel engine generator is overhauled, especially the camshaft whose working system continues to receive needs and pressure while the machine is operating, so maintenance must be more for the sake of the diesel engine generator, if there is negligence or replacing spare parts not according to the manual book when doing an overhaul, the consequences that arise are such as erosion of the camshaft. In this case, the researcher used the SHEL method to map the problem and used the USG method for discussion. Data collection techniques in the form of an approach to objects through observation, interviews and literature studies. The purpose of this study was to determine what factors cause erosion of the diesel engine generator camshaft, what impacts are caused by the erosion of the diesel engine generator camshaft and what efforts are made to overcome the erosion of the diesel engine generator camshaft.

Abstract

Pendidikan kejuruan tidak hanya menekankan keterampilan teknis, tetapi juga etika profesi sebagai bekal memasuki dunia kerja. Permasalahan yang ditemukan adalah rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap etika profesi, sikap profesional, dan integritas. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesiapan kerja siswa melalui edukasi etika profesi. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pemaparan materi, diskusi kelompok, studi kasus, simulasi kerja, serta evaluasi melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata pemahaman dari 58,2% menjadi 85,2% (naik 27%), dengan peningkatan pada konsep etika (+28%), sikap profesional (+26%), integritas (+27%), tanggung jawab kerja (+26%), dan penerapan etika (+28%). Kesimpulannya, kegiatan ini efektif dalam membentuk siswa yang profesional dan berintegritas melalui penguatan aspek kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik

Abstract

This research is motivated by the significant verbal communication limitations of deaf children, which cause traditional oral teaching methods to be less effective in conveying faith material that is largely abstract in nature. The purpose of this study is to describe the learning strategies of Catholic Religious Education (PAK) teachers in developing the faith of deaf children in Basic Class 2-C at SLB-B Karya Murni Medan. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects consisted of eight informants, namely the PAK teacher, an assisting teacher, peer colleagues, and the school principal, determined using snowball sampling techniques. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, with data analysis comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The trustworthiness of the data was tested using source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results show that the PAK teacher applies four main strategies, namely visual learning strategies, non-auditory communication (total communication), contextual and participatory learning, and individual/differentiated learning. These four strategies play a role in supporting the faith development of deaf children in four aspects, namely knowing God, an attitude of prayer, the embodiment of the value of love, and involvement in spiritual activities. The main conclusion of the study indicates that the visual, concrete, and contextual approach applied by the PAK teacher is able to open deaf children's access to faith material while fostering a meaningful appreciation of faith in accordance with their communication characteristics.
