Abstract

Kualitas pembelajaran merupakan faktor penentu keberhasilan proses belajar mengajar di sekolah. Guru sebagai pemeran utama pendidikan secara terus menerus dan berkesinambungan perlu membekali diri dan dibekali dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengajar termasuk diantaranya dalam pembelajaranb. Kegiatan pengabdian ini didasari kenyataan masih banyaknya kendala yang ditemui guru biologi dalam melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran dengan keterbatasan media dan sarana pembelajaran. Tujuan pengabdian adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru biologi dalam melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran biologi, dengan memanfaat sarana, bahan dan alat yang mudah diakses di rumah maupun lingkungan sekolah. Pelatihan ini menggunakan metode experiential learning dengan pendekatan participant-centered melalui teknik case study, dan simulasi. Hasil kegaitan pengabdian memperlihatkan bahwa guru-guru merasa kegiatan ini sangat penting dan memiliki kualitas baik serta diharapkan dapat dilanjutkan untuk tahun berikutnya.

Abstract

Background: The development of technology in education and teaching requires teachers to have skills in making and using technology as a learning medium, learning resource or learning supplement. ARSINAPS is an Augmented Reality learning media based on the android system that has been developed in order to help teachers to be able to visualize the structure of the tissues that make up the respiratory system with three-dimensional objects. The skill of using digital media for teachers certainly needs to start with workshop activities and socialization of digital learning media.Thus, in order to improve the skills of using digital media, this P2M activity was carried out by introducing ARSINAPS as an AR learning supplement product and also providing training to be able to make AR media simply. Method: The training was attended by 20 biology teachers from MGMP Bekasi district, West Java and the implementation of the activity was carried out at SIT Ulil Albab, Bekasi. Results: Skills in using digital media as a medium and learning supplement increased after the introduction and training on making Android-based Augmented Reality media. The average N-Gain score is 7.13 and is in the high category. Conclusion: Teachers are motivated and can already use Augmented Reality-based learning media as a supplement to learning in schools.

Abstract

SMA Negeri 12 Jakarta adalah salah satu sekolah menengah atas negeri yang terletak di Jakarta, Indonesia. Sekolah ini menyediakan pendidikan tingkat menengah atas untuk siswa kelas X hingga XII. SMA Negeri 12 Jakarta juga dikenal sebagai salah satu sekolah yang memiliki standar pendidikan yang tinggi dan prestasi akademik yang baik. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dalam Penelitian ini yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi pengajaran yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran Biologi di SMA Negeri 12 Jakarta. Pada penelitian ini guru biologi di SMA Negeri 12 Jakarta menjadi subjek penelitian yang mana dengan memilih guru yang memiliki pengalaman dan wawasan yang relevan dengan strategi pengajaran biologi. Metode dalam penelitian ini yaitu observasi langsung ke SMA Negeri 12 Jakarta dan melakukan wawancara langsung dengan narasumber yaitu guru biologi di sekolah tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa Pendekatan luas dalam mengajar biologi di sekolah ini mencakup metode ilmiah, aktivitas interaktif, dan penggunaan teknologi. Guru-guru aktif dalam MGMP dan kegiatan KIR menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang memotivasi siswa. Siswa mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kerja tim melalui media pembelajaran interaktif, proyek tim, dan integrasi disiplin ilmu lainnya. Pembelajaran berkala dan partisipasi dalam kegiatan ekstrakurikuler KIR meningkatkan minat siswa dalam biologi. Merawat tanaman di sekolah juga mengajarkan siswa tentang keberlanjutan dan kesadaran lingkungan. Pendekatan ini berhasil menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang efektif.

Abstract

The competitive world situation caused by globalization requires students in the 21st century to have the ability to think critically. Critical thinking ability is a thinking process that has a purpose and focuses on producing an idea to solve a problem. However, several studies show that students' critical thinking skills in biology are still in the low to medium category. Thus, several efforts are needed to improve critical thinking skills, one of which can be through the use of technology-based learning media. This study aims to improve students' critical thinking ability using Augmented Reality learning media. This research was carried out from January to July 2022 at State Senior High School 31 Jakarta (henceforth called SMAN 31 Jakarta). The research used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The experimental class used AR SINAPS learning media to assist the learning process. The control class, on the other hand, used picture media. The research involved 44 students selected by simple random sampling. The participants were divided into experimental and control classes, each of which amounted to 22 students. The data analysis technique used was a t-test with a significant level (α) = 0.05. Based on the calculations on the average gain score for the experimental and control classes, a significance value of 0.01 was obtained, meaning that using AR SINAPS learning media might enhance high school students' critical thinking ability better than using the picture media.

Abstract

Health literacy is the capacity to obtain, process, and comprehend fundamental health information and health services that facilitate the formulation of informed health decisions. The objective of this study is to enhance students' health literacy abilities by employing problem-based learning media on circulatory system content. The Classroom Action Research method, employing a cyclic research model comprising two cycles with four stages—namely, planning, action, observation, and reflection—is expected to facilitate the improvement of health literacy skills among class XI students. The CAR methodology employs problem-based learning, which is conducted with 36 students. The data collection method employs test scores or scores on pre- and post-test health literacy questionnaires containing 10 questions, which will be compared on average as a reference for improving students' health literacy. The findings of this study indicate that there was an increase in health literacy skills, with a value of 13.86% in Cycle I and 13.96% in Cycle II. In conclusion, the results of this action research demonstrate that the problem-based learning model with Bloodypedia media is an effective method for improving the health literacy skills of grade XI students on the material of the human circulatory system.   Keywords: Bloodypedia, health literacy, problem-based learning

Abstract

The curriculum is a very important part in organizing learning. The curriculum in Indonesia itself has undergone many changes to adapt learning to current developments. The independent curriculum, as a new curriculum in education, focuses on increasing effectiveness and flexibility compared to the previous curriculum, which allows learning to be adjusted according to the interests, talents, potential and needs of each student. This research aims to identify challenges and useful strategies in teaching biology using the independent curriculum. The research method involves direct observation and interviews with biology teachers. The research results show that there are several challenges for biology teachers, such as differences in student abilities, lack of active participation in class, and too many students in one class. To overcome this, teachers can use strategies such as assessing students' abilities not only through tests, providing initial worksheets to assess students' abilities, presenting important material if class time is limited, and utilizing existing educational technology. Therefore, teachers have a very important role in achieving learning goals in the independent curriculum

Abstract

Penggunaan smartphone yang belum optimal pemanfaatannya untuk pembelajaran di kalangan pelajar menimbulkan beberapa dampak negative seperti mengurangi interaksi sosial dan konsentrasi belajar. Persepsi siswa dalam penggunaan teknologi sebagai sumber belajar berperan penting dalam mengoptimalkan penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran. Persepsi akan penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran dapat ditingkatkan dengan memberikan kegiatan pengenalan dan pelatihan secara berkelanjutan. Sehingga, kegiatan pengabdian kali ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan mengukur persepsi siswa mengenai penggunaan aplikasi identifikasi tumbuhan (PlantNet dan Google Lens) dalam pembelajaran biologi. Pelatihan ini penting dilakukan sebagai langkah awal optimalisasi penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran biologi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMAN 103 Jakarta, melihatkan 24 siswa. Metode pelatihan tutorial digunakan dalam kegiatan ini, diikuti dengan pemberian pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur persepsi siswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner mengenai persepsi siswa sebanyak 10 butir pernyataan menggunakan 4 skala penilaian. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif dari data yang diperoleh, persepsi siswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi PlantNet dan Google Lens mengalami peningkatan sebesar 7,9 poin (kategori sedang). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sosialisasi, pengenalan dan penggunaan secara langsung teknologi dalam pembelajaran di kelas dapat meningkatkan persepsi siswa terhadap teknologi tersebut. Menurut siswa, aplikasi PlantNet lebih mudah dan efektif digunakan dalam praktik mengidentifikasi tumbuhan jika dibandingkan dengan Google Lens.

Abstract

Environmental issues have become a major global focus, with various stakeholders including practitioners, media, governments, and academics expressing concerns about ongoing environmental changes. To address these challenges, there is a need to enhance students' critical thinking skills to analyze ecological problems, equipping the next generation to understand and respond effectively. This study investigates the impact of the flipped learning model on middle school students' critical thinking skills in ecology topic. A quasi-experimental design was used, specifically a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. Conducted at SMPN 216 Jakarta from January to June 2024, the research involved a sample of 72 students. Results analyzed with the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test on gain scores indicate that the flipped learning model positively influences students' critical thinking skills in environmental issues, with an N-gain score of 0.49, categorized as medium. Therefore, this form of learning can be an effective alternative in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Kesulitan dalam memahami materi genetika seringkali muncul akibat sifat abstrak dan ketersediaan media pembelajaran yang kurang memadai. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan fokus pada pengembangan media pembelajaran "Kotak Kromosom" (KOKRO) untuk materi kromosom. Metode Research & Development (R&D) dengan model 3D digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Pengembangan KOKRO melibatkan tahap define, design, dan development, dengan validasi konten dan media oleh ahli Pendidikan Biologi. Kotak Kromosom adalah perangkat pengajaran berbentuk kotak dari kardus, dilapisi kertas pembungkus, dan bagian dalamnya dilapisi kertas berwarna cerah yang berisi gambar-gambar tentang kromosom. Hasil dari kedua uji tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara umum, media pembelajaran KOKRO layak digunakan dengan sedikit revisi kecil untuk meningkatkan efektivitasnya.

Abstract

Project-based learning trains creative thinking skills by means of the creation of valued recycling products from inorganic waste. The study aims to discover the improvement of creative thinking skills in environmental change content through project-based learning. The study uses a quasi-experiment method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The instrument used is the creative thinking skill test by referring to Torrence indicators that consist of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The test comprises 10 valid question items and has criteria of very high reliability. The study is conducted in Grade X of MIPA in one of the senior high schools (SMA) in Bekasi, Indonesia. The experimental class is taught with a project-based learning model, whereas the control class used conventional learning. Students involved in the research are 76 students in Senir High School 4 Bekasi. Simple random sampling is employed as the sampling technique. Normality test that uses Kolmogorov-Smirnov and homogenity test that employs Levene test indicates that data are normally distributed and homogenous. The results of hypothesis testing suggest an influence on creative thinking skills in environmental change content after the application of the project-based learning. According to the normalized gain calculation, the application of project-based learning has a moderate category. The research finding suggeststhat the learning about environmental changes for students could be taught using project-based learning to empower creative thinking skills.
