Abstract

Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify, describe, and analyze the application of edupreneurship in convention and event business management for English classes at the Makassar State Tourism Polytechnic Methodology The qualitative descriptive method was used by researchers in this study. What is meant by "qualitative descriptive research" is survey research that determines and explains the use of the strategy for implementing the Makassar State Tourism Polytechnic. Results/Findings In general, it can be said that the results of research related to the implementation of edupreunership through teaching factories show the commitment of vocational institutions or tertiary institutions to edupreneurship learning. This is evidenced by the empowerment of entrepreneurship aimed at all levels, this fact proves that entrepreneurship subjects have strategic meaning for students and institutions. Implications The conclusion highlights that while schools aim to align with edupreneurship through teaching factories, they face challenges in synchronizing with business and industry practices. These hurdles include deficiencies in work culture adherence, teaching staff's unfamiliarity with industry standards, unmet infrastructure benchmarks, universities' insufficient collaboration with industry entities, and regulatory constraints imposing the use of state assets for revenue generation

Women's empowerment through the community is a forum for developing the economy of Panaikang village, especially the introduction to tourism itself and its elements. One of them is the role of women in capacity building and community understanding of the benefits of tourism. Community service is packaged as technical guidance on women's war in developing villages and poverty alleviation in Panaikang Tourism Village. This technical guidance includes providing material about the Tourism Village to improve the community's standard of living around the Panaikang Tourism Village. The results of this service activity day showed that the community was very enthusiastic and actively participated in the activity. This activity has a significant impact on the community, especially in terms of gender equality and the role of women in poverty alleviation in Panaikang Village.

Abstract

This research investigates the persistent gap between theoretical English instruction and the practical demands of the global tourism industry. While travelers rely on seamless communication to steer various service encounters students often struggle with a profound lack of confidence and linguistic passivity that hinders their professional growth. We implemented a structured input and output framework based on the presentation and practice and production sequence to determine its impact on the communicative effectiveness of sixty vocational learners. Our quantitative analysis utilized pre-test and post-test performance metrics to measure oral fluency and linguistic accuracy and pragmatic competence across two distinct groups. The data reveals that the experimental group achieved statistically significant gains in all domains with a speech rate reaching over one hundred syllables per minute and an accuracy ratio of seventy seven percent. These results prove that intentional instructional sequencing acts as a vital bridge for preparing industry ready professionals who can respond spontaneously in high stakes travel scenarios. This study provides a replicable roadmap for vocational institutions seeking to transform English from a passive subject into a dynamic asset for international service excellence.

Abstract

The Independent Learning (Vocational) Program requires independence and practical skills, such as foreign language proficiency. To ensure that students with disabilities, particularly students who are Deaf (total deafness), can participate in the vocational environment, this study examines the necessary adaptive technologies and strategies. Limited participatory observation in the model trial class and document analysis (RPS and curriculum) were used in this qualitative case study. The focus of the observation was the use of visual media and technology, as well as identifying gaps in existing technological support. The results show that using a learning model is very effective in low-tech visual adaptation driven by lecturers' personal efforts. This includes the preparation of adaptive lesson plans (RPS), captioning, and consistent visualization. However, the analysis found that the high-tech gap results in a significant need for technological support (A4). There are certain communication barriers, particularly in verifying students' spontaneous cues (C1), because real-time voice-to-text conversion applications are not explicitly supported by the curriculum guidelines. To address miscommunication, the integration of real-time assistive tools is a top technological need. To achieve the goal of vocational program independence, adaptive practices must be reinforced with institutional policy mandates that ensure adaptive technology is available and used so that inclusion no longer depends on individual faculty autonomy.

Abstract

Background. The growth of tourism in Bali has become a complex and multidimensional phenomenon, where the increase in tourist numbers has a significant economic impact but also triggers environmental, social, and cultural pressures. Overtourism occurs when the number of tourists exceeds a destination's carrying capacity, creating an imbalance in the system. Empirical studies show that the post-pandemic surge in tourism has a positive economic impact but also increases pressure on the environment and infrastructure. Aims. This research develops a dynamic logistics growth-based mathematical model to explain the relationship between the number of tourists and the capacity to accommodate in Bali's tourism system. The model is formulated as a nonlinear differential system in which capacity is treated as a time variable. Results. The results of the analysis show that carrying capacity is dynamic and degrades as tourist pressure accumulates. Conclusion. This study introduces the concept of effective capacity and shows that overtourism is an endogenous phenomenon in the tourism system.

Abstract

Aims. This research aims to understand how food ingredient procurement in Food Production at Hotel Melia Makassar operates and to identify the obstacles encountered. Methods. The research method is qualitative, with data collected through interviews and documentation. Result. The results of this research indicate that procurement of food ingredients is carried out through a systematic process, beginning with planning based on the Daily Market List (DML). This process, prepared by the kitchen team, involves the purchasing team's verification and supplier selection, the creation and delivery of Purchase Orders (PO), and the receiving team's receipt and inspection of materials in collaboration with the kitchen team. The food storage system strictly adheres to the First In, First Out (FIFO) principle, with clear storage zone divisions, including dry storage, chiller, and freezer, to ensure the quality and freshness of food ingredients. The main obstacles identified in this study include irregularities in the ordering process due to sudden order requests from the kitchen team, delivery delays from suppliers, discrepancies between the quality of received materials and established specifications, and challenges in managing food stock. Conclusion. Based on these findings, this research provides several strategic recommendations to improve food procurement efficiency in the hospitality industry, including enhancing interdepartmental coordination, implementing a more modern inventory system, conducting periodic evaluations of supplier performance, and developing staff capacity through structured training programs.

Abstract

This study investigates the resilience strategies employed by small and medium-sized tourism enterprises (SMTEs) in Tanjung Bira, a marine-based destination in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, to cope with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Duchek's Model of resilience, which conceptualizes resilience as a meta-capability composed of three stages (anticipation, coping, and adaptation), is used as a key framework. An exploratory qualitative approach was employed, involving in-depth semi-structured interviews with seven informants representing various tourism stakeholders. Thematic analysis revealed several main strategies for SMTE resilience: collaboration with stakeholders, government intervention, implementation of digital marketing, strengthening SMTEs legality, and strengthening/diversification of SMTE products. Mapping these strategies onto Duchek's Model, the anticipation stage included strategic planning, risk assessment, and building dynamic capabilities; the coping stage consisted of immediate financial measures and policy support; and the adaptation stage involved diversification, technology and innovation adoption, and collaboration and networking. A key implication is that destination management organizations should create innovative products and leverage online platforms for marketing to increase visitor arrivals and boost SMTE product sales. The findings contribute to understanding SMTE resilience in the context of a marine-based destination in Eastern Indonesia and provide insights for policymakers and practitioners to support SMTE recovery and long-term sustainability post-pandemic.
