Abstract

Tanjungkerta District is an area with a relatively high level of disaster risk, which requires strong preparedness from the community, particularly through the role of the Disaster-Resilient Village Task Force. This study aims to describe the preparedness level of task force members in carrying out disaster management efforts. The research employed a descriptive quantitative design with a total of eighty-five respondents selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire assessing four aspects of preparedness, namely training experience, readiness for assignment, access to information, and governance and institutional support. The findings show that training experience obtained an average score of 3.46 and readiness for assignment reached 3.61, both categorized as ready. Governance and institutional support also fell into the ready category with an average score of 3.57. Meanwhile, access to information received an average score of 3.20, indicating an almost ready level. Overall, the preparedness level of the task force was categorized as ready with an average score of 3.43. These results indicate that the task force has demonstrated good preparedness; however, further strengthening of information access and continuous capacity development is still required.

Abstract

Natural disasters are natural phenomena that directly or indirectly disrupt human life and can occur at any time. Therefore, community preparedness is necessary to face disasters, considering that most Indonesians live in disaster-prone areas. As part of the Disaster Resilient Village Program, the Village Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) functions to advocate, coordinate, and implement collaborative disaster risk reduction efforts at the village level. The goal is to ensure disaster risk reduction-based development, increase community resilience, and disaster preparedness. FPRB must have the ability to recognize threats in their area, be able to organize resources to reduce vulnerability and increase capacity to reduce disaster risk, and achieve disaster preparedness. Therefore, there is a need for mentoring and capacity building in preparing communities, particularly in terms of strategies, knowledge, and skills, as part of disaster preparedness. The application of this community service program aims to provide training and mentoring for members of the village disaster risk reduction forum, including the preparation of disaster risk assessments, emergency response plans, contingency plans, and basic life support. This service was attended by members of the village disaster risk reduction forum and village government officials, which was held from April to October 2025. The external targets in this study are the disaster management plan documents in the village, which include disaster risk assessments, emergency response plans, standard operating procedures, and post-disaster contingency plans and the skills of the FPRB members in providing first aid to disaster victims.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Deaths from non-communicable diseases are increasing in low and middle income countries. Developing school-based health education interventions and programs is one way to improve health literacy skills and abilities from an early age. This program is important for children because increasing literacy skills and abilities in children can predict increasing physical and mental health status and plays an important role in forming healthy habits in children Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of structured health education on children's health literacy, cognitive, emotional and behavioral, as well as mood and coping. Method: This study was conducted using a pre-experimental design (group intact comparison) with repeated measurements (pre-test and post-test) involving the intervention group and the control group. Elementary school students in grades 4-5 as many as 80 students in the intervention group and 88 students in the control group using several research instruments, namely Health Literacy for Adolescent Tools (HLAT-8), Pediatric Symptom Checklist- 17 (PSC-17), Mood and Feelings Questionnaire -Self report (MFQ-Self). Results: The interaction of health literacy (F(1,166) = 108.3, p < .001, emotional state (F(1,166) = 51.22, p < 0.001), and coping (F(1,166) = 68.71, p < .001). between time and group was significant. This indicates that changes in health literacy, emotioanal state, and coping mechanism scores from pre-test to post-test differet between the intervention and control groups, thus concluding that the intervention was effective in improving health literacy compared to the control group. Conclusion: So it can be concluded that health education using audiovisual media can improve literacy skills in children, improve emotional conditions and reduce the risk of depression in children with good coping. Abstract

The Emergency Department (ED) requires rapid and accurate evaluation of patients’ clinical conditions to support effective triage and timely intervention. The Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS) classifies patients based on clinical urgency, while the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) assesses physiological parameters to detect early deterioration. Evidence on the relationship between these tools remains limited, particularly in Indonesia, and discrepancies between them may result in undertriage or overtriage, affecting patient safety. This study aimed to determine the relationship between CTAS levels and NEWS scores among patients in the ED of RSUD Umar Wirahadikusumah. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted on 307 patients selected through simple random sampling across different shifts. Data were collected using CTAS and NEWS assessment sheets and analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation test. The results showed a statistically significant but very weak positive correlation between CTAS and NEWS (r = 0.184, p < 0.001), indicating that higher CTAS levels tend to be associated with higher NEWS scores, although not consistently. The presence of undertriage and overtriage reflects inconsistencies between clinical judgment and physiological assessment. These findings suggest that CTAS and NEWS assess complementary aspects of patient acuity, and their integration may improve triage accuracy, reduce misclassification, and enhance patient safety in emergency care.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Head injury is a serious health problem that can cause neurological complications, including acute non-epileptic seizures. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the severity of head injury and the occurrence of acute non-epileptic seizures in patients with head injury at Umar Wirahadikusumah Regional General Hospital. Method: This study applied a quantitative cross-sectional retrospective design. The population included all head injury patients recorded in medical records from 2024 to 2025. A total 159 samples were selected using purposive sampling techniques from patients with mild, moderate, or severe head injury without a previous history of epilepsy. The research instrument was a medical record review sheet. Head injury severity assessed using the Glasgow coma scale score served as the independent variable, while acute non-epileptic seizures were the dependent variable. Data were presented descriptively and analyzed using the Spearman’s correlation test. Result: The results showed a statistically significant relationship between the severity of head injury and the occurrence of acute non-epileptic seizures, with a probability value less than 0.001 and a correlation coefficient of 0.477, indicating a positive relationship with moderate strength. Conclusion: The severity of head injury is significantly associated with the occurrence of acute non-epileptic seizures, highlighting the importance of early neurological assessment and increased clinical vigilance in patients with head injury, particularly in emergency care settings.
