Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Inappropriate feeding practices could be a major cause of stunting. Stunting was one of the problems in the growth process because it was associated with an increased risk of morbidity, mortality, and suboptimal brain development. Based on data obtained from the electronic data collection of community-based nutrition recording and reporting in East Manggarai district at August weighing in 2023 from 24,427 toddlers there were 2195 stunted toddlers or 9. 0%. Pota health center was one of the health centers in East Manggarai Regency with a high number of stunted toddlers, namely 107 children or 10. 9%. The purpose of this study was to determine, describe and analyze the feeding patterns of stunted toddlers at Pota health center, East Manggarai regency. Methods: this study used a qualitative method with phenomenological research approaches. The informants in this study consisted of 7 main informants, namely mothers who had stunted toddlers in the pota puskesmas working area who were taken by purposive sampling technique. Results: mothers' perceptions of stunting tended to be the physical signs of children without knowing the long-term effects. The pattern of exclusive breastfeeding was still not good where most children were not given exclusive breastfeeding and the pattern of complementary feeding was still inadequate from the age of administration, frequency, amount, texture, variety and not knowing the complementary feeding of breast milk. Conclusion: mothers' perceptions of stunting were only related to the physical signs of the child and most informants did not gave their children exclusive breastfeeding and the pattern of complementary feeding was still inadequate from the age of administration, frequency, quantity, texture, variety and did not knew complementary feeding of breast milk.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the indicators to determine the quality of health services.. A strategic effort to overcome this is by implementing Midwife Continuity of Care (CoC) on the 1000 HPK (First Day of Life) by midwives. Probolinggo Regency has the 5th highest mortality rate in East Java Province with an MMR of 201 per 100,000 live births in 2022, while the IMR rate reaches 10.4 per 1,000 live births. One of the factors that influences this problem is the midwife's lack of knowledge regarding CoC care. Research shows that implementing CoC can significantly reduce the risk of maternal and neonatal complications. The aim of this community service activity is to increase midwives' knowledge regarding Continuity of Care. Methods include module development, training, and interactive discussions. The first stage is creating a CoC guide module for midwives and a parenting guide for parents. The second stage involves training for midwives and cadres on the concepts and implementation of CoC. Additionally, the activity is conducted in the form of interactive discussions and reflections on the CoC practices carried out by the midwives and cadres. The final stage is the ASAH (Asih, Asah, and Asuh) class for mothers with infants and toddlers, aimed at enhancing their knowledge in monitoring child growth and development. The results of this activity show an increase in midwives' knowledge of 21% after participating in training and simulations. The midwives involved also showed a commitment to implementing CoC in daily services, with the hope of contributing to improving the quality of sustainable midwifery services in their area. This program is expected to be an important step in and accelerate efforts to prevent MMR, IMR and Stunting in Indonesia

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Nutritional problems among toddlers remain a public health concern in Indonesia, including in Probolinggo City, where inadequate nutritional status and limited monitoring may hinder early intervention. Low attendance at community health posts for toddlers reduces the continuity of growth monitoring. The socioeconomic level of parents is considered one of the factors influencing attendance. Objective: To analyze the relationship between parental socioeconomic status and toddler attendance at community health posts in Kareng Lor, Probolinggo City. Method: This study used an observational analytic design with a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional method. A total of 100 respondents were selected randomly. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and multivariate logistic regression. Result and Discussion: Parents with lower-middle socioeconomic status were entirely inactive in posyandu visits (100%), those with middle socioeconomic status were mostly active (64.5%), and all parents in the upper socioeconomic group were active (100%). Socioeconomic status showed a significant relationship with posyandu attendance (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis indicated that the father’s occupation (OR = 16.43; p = 0.006) and household asset ownership (OR = 12.47; p = 0.005) were the dominant factors influencing posyandu attendance. Conclusions: Most parents had a middle socioeconomic level, and socioeconomic differences were associated with the activeness of posyandu visits. Father’s occupation and household assets were the key factors linked to higher attendance.

Abstract

Introduction: Early childhood development during the golden years is crucial for future quality of life, yet developmental disorders remain a significant challenge. In Surabaya, Gundih Health Center showed the lowest coverage of developmental monitoring services. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stimulation provision and sleep duration with developmental outcomes in children aged 12-36 months at Gundih Health Center, Surabaya. Method: A quantitative analytical study with cross-sectional design was conducted from April to September 2025. Using purposive sampling, 110 children aged 12-36 months were selected. Data were collected through questionnaires adapted from the Maternal and Child Health Book for stimulation assessment, Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire for sleep duration, and Developmental Pre-Screening Questionnaire for developmental assessment. Data analysis employed univariate and bivariate analysis using Spearman rank correlation test. Result and Discussion: Results showed that 48.2% of children had age-appropriate development, while 51.8% demonstrated questionable development or possible deviations. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between developmental stimulation and child development (p=0.034, r=0.202), indicating that better stimulation correlated with appropriate developmental outcomes. However, no significant relationship was found between sleep duration and child development (p=0.323, r=0.095). Conclusions: Developmental stimulation significantly influences child development outcomes, while sleep duration does not show a direct significant relationship with developmental progress in children aged 12-36
