Abstract

Along with the rapid development of industry encourages the increasing use of machinery, work equipment in the process of produsi with accompanied the application of techniques and technology from various levels in all sector. This means that there maybe a high risk of accidents due to work and also an increase in the amount of intensity of hazard sources in the workplace. Using of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is the final stage of hazard control, although the use of PPE will be maximized if other controls such as elimination, substitution, enginee was already applied. This research was conducted at PT.XYZ which is one of the companies engaged in the delivery of goods through sea lanes located in Tanjung Perak, Surabaya by using analytical observational method with a cross sectional study design with a total sample of 38 people. The characteristics of the respondents and the level of compliance with the use of PPE were obtained from interviews with mechanicalworkers in the workshop area. From the results of interviews conducted, as many as 24 mechanical workers obedient in using PPE and 14 others are not obedient in using PPE. The result of statistical test using chi square test shows that there is correlation between knowledge level (p = 0,002) with level of compliance of PPE usage on mechanical worker in workshop area. Advisable for workers to further improve compliance and self-awareness in using personal protective equipment (APD) whileworking or while in the work environment because its relates to the personal health and safety of workers. For the company should be more firm in supervising the worker in this case about the habit of using personal protective equipment in accordance with the policy set.

Abstract

The accident that occurred was caused by two factors like unsafe act and unsafe condition. PT PAL is one of the companies that produce ships and provides ship maintenance services which every process have pontential hazard like welding process, grinding process and steel cutting process. Initial survey showed there was several accident like pinched causing minor injuries and some nearmiss to workers in the welding section. This research was conducted in Commercial Ship Division PT. PAL with aim to analyze the influence of individual characteristics and characteristics of work with unsafe act on the Commerce Division of PT. PAL using cross sectional study with total sample of as many as 80 worker. Characteristics of respondent and unsafe action was obtained from interview with workers and observation directly to the field. The result of statistical tests using binary logistic regression showed that characteristics individual and characteristics of work which has an influence on unsafe action are age (p=0,001), knowledge of OHS (p=0,000) and time periode (p=0,008) with R value = 0,690. This means that age, knowledge of OHS and time periode have an effect of 69% on unsafe action on workers in the division of the commercial ship PT. PAL (Indonesia) and 31% are influenced by other factors. Recommendation for workers should avoid unsafe act while working like joking and for the companies should be more routine to hold socialization related implementation of OSH in the workplace and also increase supervision for workers, especially in the habit of using PPE in accordance with established policies.

Abstract

Based on data from the Health and Safety Executive, it can be concluded that as many as 90% of accidents are caused by human error. Coal mining is an industry that has a high risk of work accidents. If the mining process is not following procedures, then lives will be at stake. Human error probability assessment needs to be done because most accidents that occur in coal mining are caused by human error. HRA (Human Reliability Analysis) is part of the risk assessment process which aims to calculate the HEP value. HRA has been used in many studies to assess the risks involved in large, complex, and dangerous systems. The Success Likelihood Index Method (SLIM) is a method of analysis for human reliability. Prevention and control of human error need to be done at every stage of work. SLIM can analyze HEP at each stage of the work. SLIM aims to obtain a HEP value. To get the HEP value, we must first find the SLI (Success Likelihood Index) value. Finding the SLI value comes from a weighting questionnaire and PSF (Performance Shaping Factor) assessment that has been filled in by an expert judgment. After the HEP value is obtained, it can be seen which jobs fall into the safe risk level and which the risk cannot be accepted. Furthermore, risk reduction is carried out by making a task analysis of jobs that have a high hazard risk. Based on the research results, it can be seen the factors that cause a human error, namely unsafe conditions, unsafe actions, personal factors, and job factors. While the task that has the highest HEP value is on task 4, which is equal to 0,006932. The task with the smallest HEP value is task 1, amounting to 0,006478.

Abstract

The industry's lack of attention to the implementation of ergonomics can give rise to complaints of Occupational Skeletal Muscle Disorders (GOTRAK) in workers. This research aims to evaluate the potential ergonomic hazards of labeling unit workers in one of the East Java Agro-industrial companies. This research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The population of this study were labeling unit workers in one of the East Java Agro-industrial companies using a sampling technique, namely saturated sampling, totaling 21 respondents. The data collection technique was carried out using the SNI 9011:2021 method. The results of the GOTRAK complaint risk level study show that there are 6 parts of the skeletal muscles that have a high risk, namely the upper back muscles (47.6%), lower back (42.9%), left and right hands (28.6%), left hip and right (33.3%) and left knee (28.6%), and right knee (23.8%). The research results on potential ergonomic hazards stated that all respondents (100%) had a total potential ergonomic hazard score ≥ 7, including the dangerous category.

Abstract

Protection from work accidents and occupational diseases is what occupational health and safety refers to for employees who are valued assets for enterprises. If this disease is not appropriately treated, symptoms such as work tiredness, which has numerous potential causes, may manifest. In order to prevent worker weariness, it is crucial to understand the causes of it. In this work, cross sectional observational research with quantitative approaches is used. The study's population consisted of PT. Y employees, with a sample size of 45 individuals. The findings of this study suggest that a number of factors influence worker weariness at work. According to the investigation, the length of the workday and nutritional status are the main contributors to fatigue at PT. Y. It is evident from the significance value's results, which have a value less then  0.05. according to the value is the connection between nutritional status and the occurrence of fatigue, it is known that it has a p-value of <0.005, which is 0.000.  Then on the results of the analysis of the length of work with fatigue it is known that the p-value <0.005, which is 0.015.  Therefore, it can be said that variables contributing to the onset of weariness include nutritional state and the length of work. Therefore, changes must be made to prevent or lower the incidence of worker weariness, such as implementing "fit to work," a nutritious diet, regulating the workload, and getting enough rest.

Abstract

The sandal industry is one of the industries that poses health risks to workers, particularly due to the physical conditions of the work environment and the production process, which serve as potential hazards. One form of control  that can be implemented is the measurement of physical factors in the workplaces. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to measure the physical hazard factors, specifically noise and lighting, and to describe the potential health risks faced by workers in a shoe manufacturing company in Surabaya. This research employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 25 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. The study was conducted from Juli to August 2024. Data on respondents’ characteristics were collected through interviews using a questionnaire, while blood pressure was measured using an Omron digital sphygmomanometer. Blood pressure was assessed before and after work on the same day. Physical factors in the work environment, such as noise, were measured using a sound level meter, and lighting was measured using a lux meter. The results showed that the average noise level range from 80.5-82.4 dBA, which l does not exceed the threshold limit value (TLV) of 85 dBA according to the Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 5 of 2018 concerning Occupational Safety and Health in the Work Environment. The average lighting level 107.8 lux, which is below the minimum lighting standard for sewing activities, s (500-700 lux), based on the Minister of Health Regulation No. 70 of 2016 concerning Standards and Requirements for Environmental Health in Industrial Workplaces. Health examinations showed an increase in average systolic and diastolic blood pressure s among the workers. Further examination is required to determine whether physical factors in the work environment contribute to the observed  increase in blood pressure among workers in the sandal and shoe industry.  Keywords: Work environment measurement, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Informal Sector, Safety
