Abstract

Stunting remains a serious public health issue in Indonesia, particularly in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which has a higher prevalence compared to other regions. This community service activity was carried out in Buar Village, North Rahong Subdistrict, Manggarai Regency by a team from Santu Paulus Ruteng Catholic University. The implementation methods included collecting stunting data from the health department, conducting interviews with the village head, an initial assessment of community understanding, educational outreach, mentoring, and a final evaluation. Initial assessments showed that only 30% of the community understood issues related to nutrition and stunting, primarily those with higher education levels. After educational sessions led by four expert speakers and interactive mentoring, community understanding significantly increased to 75%. This activity demonstrates that community-based education is effective in raising public nutrition awareness. The sustainability of stunting prevention efforts requires cross-sector collaboration among the government, community members, traditional leaders, and educational institutions so that knowledge change can be translated into real, everyday behaviors.

Abstract

Blended learning necessitates a digitization technology on the part of both instructors and students, the use of up-to-date instructional strategies, adaptable learning procedures, the efficiency of the processes, space, and financial resources, as well as learner motivation and independence; all of these factors lead to a rise in learner academic achievement. Unfortunately, the results ofthe most recent empirical studies do not support the idea that blended learning help learners enhance their English proficiency and their level of learning independence. There is proof that blended learning impacts the English proficiency, learning independence, enthusiasm, and ICT skills of students. This article analyzed and quantified the effectiveness of blended learning in English as a Foreign Language (EFL). This study is a quantitative explanatory research type with a pre-test and post-test design. One hundred eighty students from the Agronomy Study Program at Universitas Katolik Indonesia Santu Paulus Ruteng participated in the study. A method of random sampling was utilized, and from that population, 73 participants were selected as samples. Data was taken by test and non test, then analyzed by a software program called SPSS 22.0. Teen blended learning sessions, including five face-to-face and five virtual sessions, are conducted using the Zoom platform. The findings indicate that students' English language skills improve with blended learning (the mean score on the posttest was 82.57), as do their levels of learning independence (82.44%), learning enthusiasm (76%), and ICT skills (70.43%).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the speech act types and functions that were used by an EFL teacher and their students during classroom interactions. Observational data was collected and analyzed according to Conversation Analysis standards (CA). The findings of the study revealed that the types of speech acts produced by the teacher and students were influenced by their respective roles and statuses. Although the students produced fewer speech acts, they served the same functions as the teacher's speech acts in terms of controlling and managing classroom interactions. As a result, the speech acts of both the students and teacher distributed authority in different ways during turn-taking and commodity exchanges. The practical knowledge and pedagogical aspect of the teacher-student relationship as a unique social event in the classroom context has the potential to effectively manage classroom interactions.
