Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the impact of transformational leadership on teacher’s performance in integrating technology into teaching (techno-pedagogy), with motivation as a mediating role. The objective of this study is examining the direct influence of transformational leadership on teacher performance, the role of motivation as a mediator, and the relationship between teacher performance and technology integration. Method: A quantitative approach was used in this research. The population were 137 teachers from several schools in East Java, with 104 randomly selected as samples. The SmartPLS 4 program was used for analysis, which included validity and reliability testing as well as the relationship between variables. Results: The findings show that transformational leadership significantly enhances teacher motivation, which improves their performance in integrating technology. However, transformational leadership does not directly influence teacher performance. Instead, motivation serves as a full mediator, connecting leadership and teacher effectiveness. Novelty: This study emphasizes the crucial role of motivation in enhancing techno-pedagogical practices and provides insights into the necessity of transformational leadership that prioritize teacher support, motivation, and providing resources in order to improve educational outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the implementation of Interactive English Teaching Methods in elementary schools in Sidoarjo, the types of interactive methods used by teachers, and the challenges in applying these methods. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving classroom observations and interviews as the primary data collection methods, supported by secondary data from books, journals, articles, and other references. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s framework, including data reduction, data display, triangulation, and drawing conclusions. The findings revealed that teachers applied various interactive teaching methods, including role-playing, project-based learning, storytelling, games, Total Physical Response (TPR), discussions, presentations, and demonstrations. These methods aimed to enhance students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while fostering engagement, collaboration, and confidence in using English. However, teachers faced several challenges in implementing interactive methods. These included limited time allocation, students’ low confidence and lack of vocabulary, uncooperative behavior during group activities, difficulties in teaching certain materials using TPR, and student boredom. The study concludes that interactive teaching methods can create an engaging and effective learning environment for elementary English learners, but successful implementation requires careful planning, classroom management, and strategies to overcome both student- and system-related challenges.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the teaching competence of Al-Qur’an teachers in delivering learning specifically designed for elderly learners. The program involved several stages, including needs identification, collaborative planning, implementation of mentoring and training, joint reflection and evaluation, as well as program improvement and adjustment. The community service method employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach and was conducted at MQ Al Muhajirin Boro, Tanggulangin. During the needs identification stage, the service team carried out observations, interviews, and discussions to understand the challenges faced by Al-Qur’an teachers in teaching elderly learners, such as difficulties in delivering material, a lack of appropriate teaching techniques, and limited learning support tools. Based on these findings, a microteaching module tailored to the needs of elderly learners was developed, along with a schedule of regular training sessions and the provision of relevant instructional aids and learning media. The mentoring and training activities were conducted periodically, emphasizing the use of visual and audio methods, adequate time intervals, and simple language. Periodic evaluations indicated improvements in teachers’ instructional skills, elderly learners’ understanding of Al-Qur’an materials, and the effectiveness of instructional aids and learning media. Overall, the program produced a significant positive impact and is expected to serve as a model for similar programs in other settings. Recommendations for program sustainability include continuous development, advanced training, community involvement, facility enhancement, and further research.
