Abstract

Medicinal plants is mostly used by tribes in Indonesia, one of them is the Loa Lepu Village community. Excavation of information on the use of medicinal plants can be done by using the ethnopharmaceutical method. This study was conducted to determine the use of plants as anti-inflammatory drugs, how to make them, how to use plants as anti-inflammatory drugs in Loa Lepu Village. Determination of informants in the Loa Lepu Village Community using the Snowball method and purposive sampling of 15 informants, followed by semi-structured interviews. The results obtained 15 types of medicinal plants used for anti-inflammatory by the people of Loa Lepu village which were divided into 10 families. The most widely used plant family was the Zingiberaceae family with 5 plants, namely ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe), laos (Alpinia galangal L. Willd), kencur (Kaempferia galangal L.), temulawak (Curcuma xanthorriza) and turmeric (Curcuma domestica). Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat untuk menjaga kesehatan, terutama dengan mengkonsumsi herbal sebagai peningkat sistem imun. Indonesia memiliki banyak ragam tanaman herbal yang dapat digunakan sebagai tanaman obat. Namun, masih banyak masyarakat yang belum tau mengolah herbal menjadi sediaan yang menarik untuk dikonsumsi. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini memiliki tujuan agar masyarakat memiliki keterampilan membuat sediaan herbal berupa permen jelly yang menarik untuk dikonsumsi terutama anak-anak. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mengedukasi masyarakat dan membantu meningkatkan imunitas tubuh menjadi lebih baik lagi. Metode kegiatan yang kami lakukan adalah dengan persiapan survey lokasi, simulasi pembuatan permen jelly herbal dan dipresentasikan kepada masyarakat, membagikan produk sediaan yang telah dibuat dan melakukan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat tersebut menunjukan antusiasme dari peserta pelatihan untuk mempraktekkan di rumah. Bahan dasarnya terbuat dari jahe, kunyit atau alternatif tanaman herbal lain yang mudah ditemukan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, pemahaman masyarakat tentang pembuatan permen jelly menunjukan bahwa pelatihan yang dilakukan dapat dimengerti dengan baik. Rekomendasi dan tindaklanjut untuk diadakan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat serupa secara berkala yang dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta pengabdian kepada masyarakat.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKalimantan memiliki setidaknya terdapat 50 spesies lebah kelulut, diantaranya lebah kelulut dengan spesies Geniotrigona thoracica. Lebah kelulut selain menghasilkan madu dengan rasa asam, jenis ini juga menghasilkan produk utama yaitu propolis. Propolis secara empiris memiliki aktivitas antioksidan, antikanker, antijamur, antiinflamasi, antivirus dan juga anti bakteri. Namun penelitian tentang propolis jenis G. thoracica masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri Staphyloccocus aureus dari fraksi etil asetat dari propolis lebah kelulut G. thoracica asal Samarinda. Ekstrak metanol propolis G. thoracica dilakukan fraksinasi cair-cair dengan pelarut etil asetat dan pelarut polar. Pengujian antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi sumuran menggunakan bakteri S. aureus. Hasil uji antibakteri yang dilakukan menunjukan fraksi etil asetat propolis G. thoracica mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus. Aktivitas antibakteri terbaik diperoleh pada konsentrasi 600ppm yaitu dengan zona hambat 13 mm. Fraksi etil asetat propolis G. thoracica asal Samarinda memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri S. aureus dengan kategori kuat Kata kunci : Fraksi etil asetat; Antibakteri; Propolis; Geniotrigona thoracica; Staphyloccocus aureus.ABSTRACTKalimantan were have at least 50 species of kelulut bees, including the kelulut bee with the species Geniotrigona thoracica. The kelulut bee produces honey with a sour taste, and also produces propolis. Propolis commonly use as antioxidant, anticancer, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and also anti-bacterial. The research about G. thoracica propolis still limited. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethyl acetate fraction of G. thoracica propolis originated from Samarinda which can inhibit Staphyloccocus aureus bacteria. The methanol exctract of G. thoracica propolis was partition with liquid-liquid fractionation using ethyl acetate and polar liquid. Then, antibacterial  was determined with agar well diffusion method. The results of the antibacterial test showed that the ethyl acetate fraction of the propolis G. thoracica were able to inhibit the growth of S. aureus bacteria, indicating that they have broad spectrum antibacterial activity. The highest antibacterial activity was obtained at 600ppm concentartion with an inhibition zone of 13 mm. The ethyl acetate fraction of G. thoracica propolis from Samarinda has antibacterial activity against S. aureus bacteria. Keywords : Ethyl acetate fraction; Antibacterial; Propolis; Geniotrigona thoracica; Staphyloccocus aureus.

Abstract

ABSTRAKEtnofarmasi merupakan kajian masyarakat tertentu dalam menggunakan obat-obatan. Informasi penggunaan tumbuhan obat dapat dilakukan dengan metode etnofarmasi. Pencegahan dan pengelolaan hipertensi adalah tantangan kesehatan masyarakat utama di seluruh dunia. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis tanaman, bagian tanaman, dan cara pengolahan tanaman obat yang digunakan untuk mengobati hipertensi di Desa Muara Gusik. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Wawancara dilakukan secara semi terstruktur dengan menggunakan tipe petanyaan open-ended. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan 15 informan didapatkan 10 jenis tumbuhan dengan indikasi sebagai antihipertensi yang dikelompokkan dalam 8 famili. Tumbuhan yang dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat di Desa Muara Gusik sebagai obat antihipertensi yaitu daun salam, daun sirsak, daun pandan, daun seledri, daun coklat, akar ilalang, akar kelapa, akar pinang, akar bamboo, dan daun melati. Cara pengolahan untuk daun yaitu direbus dan diminum sebanyak 1-2x sehari. Cara pengolahan untuk akar diseduh dengan air panas selama 3-6 jam dan diminum sebanyak 1x sehari. Famili yang paling dominan yaitu Poaceae dan Arecaceae. Bagian tumbuhan obat yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu daun. Cara pengolahan yang memiliki presentase paling tinggi yaitu direbus. Kata kunci :Etnofarmasi; Tumbuhan Obat; Tradisional; Desa Muara Gusik. ABSTRACTEthnopharmacy is the study of certain people  using drugs. Information on the use of medicinal plants can be done using the ethnopharmaceutical method. The prevention and management of hypertension is a major public health challenge worldwide. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of plants, plant parts, and methods of processing medicinal plants used to treat hypertension in Muara Gusik Village. The method used is qualitative. Interviews were conducted in a semi-structured manner using an open-ended question type. Based on the results of interviews with 15 informants, it was found that 10 types of plants used to treat hypertension were grouped into 8 families. Plants with indications as antihypertensives are bay leaves, soursop leaves, pandan leaves, celery leaves, cocoa leaves, weed roots, coconut roots, betel nut roots, bamboo roots, and jasmine leaves. The processing method for the leaves is boiled and drunk 1-2 times a day. The processing method for the roots is brewed with hot water for 3-6 hours and drunk 1x a day. The most dominant families are Poaceae and Arecaceae. The most widely used part of medicinal plants is the leaf. The processing method that has the highest percentage is boiled. Keywords : Ethnopharmacy; Medicinal plant; Traditional; Muara Gusik Village.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with fertile soil and rich in plant species. Currently in society the use of medicinal plants as herbal treatment has increased. Elderly people often experience Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is inflammation of the synovial lining of the joints. One of the plants used by the community is red betel leaf (Piper crocatum). However, scientific information related to the potential of red betel as an anti-inflammatory in Rheumatoid Arthritis is still not widely known by the public. This study was conducted to explore the potential of P. crocatum leaves to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis which can be used as references regarding Rheumatoid Arthritis therapy. This study uses a narrative review method from previous studies that were collected related to the topic which was then discussed systematically. By using keywords in the search for Piper crocatum, anti-inflammatory activity, red betel bioactivity, secondary compounds in red betel leaf, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. P. crocatum leaves contain various bioactive compounds. Flavonoids have activity as primary and secondary antioxidants. Flavonoid compounds such as brazilien, brazilin, taxifolin, procyanidin found in red betel have anti-inflammatory activity in rheumatoid arthritis. Brazilin is one of the flavonoid compounds from P. crocatum leaves that has the potential as an anti-inflammatory in rheumatoid arthritis by regulating the transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) for TNF- expression against inflammation.

Abstract

Desa Musaping merupakan sebuah desa yang berada di Loa Duri Ulu Kutai Kartanegara dengan mayoritas mata pencaharian masyarakatnya adalah berkebun dan berladang. Terdapat beberapa permasalahan yang kemudian menjadikan potensi perkebunan yang besar ini tidak terlalu dirasakan keuntungannya secara material oleh para pemilik kebun. Tanaman yang ditanam sering terkena penyakit hingga gagal panen. Komoditas seperti pisang, singkong dan pepaya. Menurut kepala desa musaping 4, penyakit pada tanaman ini dialami sejak tahun 2020 dimana ditemukan singkong, pisang dan pepaya mengalami busuk didalam buahnya, namun terlihat sehat jika dilihat secara kasat mata. Kondisi topologi desa yang cukup terjal, membuat jaringan masih belum masuk kedalam desa, sehingga masyarakat juga mengalami kesulitan dalam melakukan literasi digital. Perlu adanya suatu jalan keluar yang dapat memperbaiki kualitas komoditas warga. Pengabdian dimulai dengan mengambil sampel tanah dan tanaman yang bermasalah dari beberapa perkebunan warga. Sampel ini diteliti dan ditemukan bakteri Pseudomonas solanacearum dan jamur Fusarium oxysporum f.sp sebagai penyebab penyakit tanaman di wilayah tersebut. Tim pengabdian kemudian melakukan edukasi kepada warga terkait penyebab penyakit dan cara mengatasinya. Dari 25 warga yang hadir, pada posttest didapatkan pemahaman sebanyak peningkatan dari masyarakat yang tidak mengetahui sama sekali, menjadi 64% atau sebanyak 16 orang yang memahami dari seluruh warga yang hadir. Kata Kunci: edukasi, kualitas komoditas, penyakit tanaman

Abstract

Rukam (Flacourtia rukam Zoll. & Mor.) is one of the forest plants from East Kalimantan which has the characteristic of edible fruit and red leaf shoots. There is still no research on the compounds and activities of the leaf shoots of F. rukam. The aim of this study was to identify secondary metabolites of F.rukam leaf shoots and their antioxidant activity. Qualitative phytochemical testing methods with color changes were carried out to identify secondary metabolites. Antioxidant activity test was determined by using DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl). Phytochemical test results from leaf shoots of F.rukam showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, tannins and carbohydrates. The antioxidant activity of F.rukam leaf shoots at concentrations of 25, 50, 100 μg/mL was 84, 86, 88% compared to vitamin C 92,94, 95%. This showed that the leaf shoots of F. rukam have a promising potential for antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Kelulut bee (Trigona sp.) products knowly as honey, pollen and propolis. Kelulut beekeepers in Samarinda are still oriented towards income from the sale of honey. The purpose of this activity is to improve the understanding and skills of kelulut beekeepers in making derivative products from honey as an alternative to selling value products. This community service is carried out by means of education and training in making products made from honey, propolis and pollen. The results of the evaluation of community service activities are measured by their level of understanding after being given training to have a good increase in the level of knowledge. The activity received a very good appreciation and participants hoped that the activity would be carried out regularly.

Abstract

Methanolic extract of Geniotrigona thoracica propolis has been reported as strong antioxidant. This potential can be applied as cream product. This aims of this study is to evaluate the physical stability of the formulation of G. thoracica propolis cream which has antioxidant activity. The extract was obtained from propolis through the maceration method and then formulated into a cream dosage form. Detemination of the physical properties of cream product were included organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, dispersibility test and adhesion test. The results of the stability evaluation of G. thoracica propolis cream showed a light brown color consistency, a weak characteristic odor and a soft semi-solid texture, homogeneous, pH 7, 6.5 cm spreadability and 260 seconds stickiness. The preparation of the G. thoracica propolis extract cream met the requirements of the physical tests performed. In addition, the G. thoracica propolis has good physical stability during storage.

Abstract

This Inflammation is a defensive response to tissue damage that occurs locally. NSAID (Non Steroid Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) and AIS (Antiinflammatory Steroids) have been used in Indonesia to treat inflammation but have side effects on the body. Purple sweet potato leaf (Ipomoea batatas) is one of the herbal medicines used by the community to treat inflammation. This research is a literature review by collecting information from Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and Garuda. The results showed that the active anti-inflammatory compounds in purple sweet potato leaves were flavonoids. Flavonoids can work as anti-inflammatory compounds by passing through several pathways such as inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase enzyme activities, inhibition of neutrophil degranulation, inhibition of histamine increase, and inhibition of leukocyte accumulation. Purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) leaves are scientifically proven to have anti-inflammatory activity as evidenced by the presence of compounds that have anti-inflammatory effects and can be developed into products for inflammation.
