Abstract

Protein is one of the important macronutrients that is needed by the body in the formation of new biomolecules, reproductive activities, transportation in the body. Protein can be obtained from animals and plants, and adequate protein intake in the body is a measure of achieving nutritional status or health indicators for both individuals and society. The aim of this community service activity (PKM) is to socialize various sources of protein that exist in the environment and can be found every day. The partners for this activity are 4th grade students of SDN No. 11 Trans Sebakul, Ledo District, Bengkayang Regency. The activity was carried out using the lecture method, followed by watching a video together regarding the importance of protein in children's growth and development. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in the knowledge of grade 4 students regarding protein sources that are often found in daily life and how important it is to consume enough protein as needed by the body.

Abstract

Petani di Markaban Laut Desa Sungai Rengas umumnya Petani padi dan juga Petani sayur-sayuran. Pemakaian pupuk sintetik saja pada tanaman yang ditanam petani belum menghasilkan produksi yang maksimal, apalagi lahan di Tanggul Markaban Laut umumnya adalah tanah sulfat masam, yang mengandung pirit, dibutuhkan penambahan bahan organik berupa pupuk organik seperti kompos. Kegiatan PKM yaitu sosialisasi mengenai pentingnya pupuk organik dan bahaya jangka Panjang pupuk anorganik, serta pelatihan pembuatan kompos organic padat menggunakan embar komposter. Limbah padat yang berasal dari limbah rumah tangga terdiri dari limbah organic dan anorganik. Pengolahan limbah organic dapat mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan. Limbah organic padat yang diolah menjadi kompos organic dengan menggunakan ember komposter dapat menghasilkan kompos padat dan cair. Pengolahan limbah rumah tangga organic yang tepat dapat mengurangi terjadinya pencemaran lingkungan. Pengolahan limbah organic dapat menghasilkan kompos padat dan cair dengan metode ember komposter

Abstract

The many side effects of consuming chemical-based drugs in maintaining human health have led to a tendency to return to nature. Consumption of medicinal plants in fresh or dried form has been considered to minimize side effects. This research will examine the feasibility of cat's claw (Uncaria tomentosa Wild. Ex Schult) tea as a functional drink based on physicochemical parameters and total phenol content. The physicochemical parameters tested included pH, water content, ash content and organoleptic examination of herbal teas including taste, odor and color of the brewed solution, while the total content of phenolic compounds was carried out based on the Folin–Ciocalteu method. Organoleptic examination showed a characteristic odor of the leaves, such as the smell of herbal teas in general with a bland and astringent taste, and the juice of the solution was yellowish green. The results of the physicochemical parameter test showed that the pH of the solution was 6.9, the water content was 7.7, the ash content was 8.00%, while the total phenol content measured was 68.77 mg GAE/g sample.  The physicochemical parameters measured from the testing of cat's claw herbal tea in this study met the quality requirements of dry tea according to SNI No 3836 BSN 2013

Abstract

Kurrak Village, Polewali Mandar Regency is a coffee-producing village that has the opportunity to develop an organic coffee agro-industry to support the realization of a green economy, namely a program to improve the Indonesian economy by focusing on environmentally sound activities. Some of the problems faced by coffee farming communities in the region include how to harvest and handle post-harvest coffee. The purpose of this community service program (PKM) is to improve the ability of the Kurrak village coffee farming community in post-harvest processing and to increase the role of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in establishing partnerships with coffee farmers. The method of implementing the activity is by counseling and practice with several stages including preparation, implementation and evaluation of the program. The PKM activity was carried out in a coffee plantation for residents in Kurrak village, attended by 25 representatives of the Kurrak village community. The results of the PKM activities showed that the activity participants had the ability to apply post-harvest coffee processing techniques, the enthusiasm and motivation of the farmer members increased and they began to activate the collaboration of MSMEs and coffee farmers in Kurrak village.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim global ditandai dengan naiknya volume permukaan air laut, intensitas curah hujan tinggi, dan gelombang/arus yang kuat. Hal ini berdampak pada kehidupan perekonomian di pesisir pulau Kabung. Luapan air laut yang sampai ke pemukiman tersebut menciutkan luar areal pertanian, sehingga produktivitas tanaman pangan akan makin menurun. Tingginya curah hujan dan arus gelombang yang kuat juga menyebabkan rutinitas bernelayan menjadi terganggu karena waktu untuk melaut sangat terbatas sehingga hasil tangkapan yang dapat dijual untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup keluarga nelayan juga mengalami penurunan yang drastis. Hal ini tentunya membutuhkan intervensi pemerintah dan seluruh pihak terkait, selain masyarakat pesisir Kabung melakukan adaptasi terhadap dampak perubahan iklim tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji dampak perubahan iklim terhadap ketahan pangan dan adaptasi masyarakat terhadap dampak yang ditimbulkannya. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, melalui observasi di lapangan dan wawancara dengan masyarakat setempat terutama yang terdampak oleh kondisi perubahan iklim tersebut menggunakan acuan/pedoman wawancara tidak terstruktur sehingga data yang diperoleh lebih mendalam (depth interview). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perubahan iklim memberikan dampak buruk terhadap tingkat perekonomian masyarakat, disebabkan oleh karena kurangnya hasil tangkapan sehingga keluarga nelayan di pesisir  sangat sulit medorong tercapainya ketahanan pangan lokal. The Impact of Climate Change on Food Security and Its Adaptation by Coastal Communities Abstract Global climate change is characterized by rising sea level volume, high rainfall intensity, and strong waves/currents. This has an impact on economic life on the coast of Kabung Island. The overflow of sea water that reaches settlements will shrink agricultural areas, so that the productivity of food crops will decrease further. High rainfall and strong wave currents also cause fishing routines to be disrupted because time to go to sea is very limited so that the catch that can be sold to meet the living needs of fishing families also experiences a drastic decline. This of course requires intervention from the government and all related parties, apart from the Kabung coastal community, to adapt to the impacts of climate change. The aim of this research is to examine the impact of climate change on food security and community adaptation to the impacts it causes. The research was carried out using a descriptive qualitative approach, through field observations and interviews with local communities, especially those affected by climate change conditions, using unstructured interview references/guidelines so that the data obtained was more in-depth (depth interviews). The results of the research show that climate change has a negative impact on the community's economic level, due to the lack of catches, making it very difficult for fishing families on the coast to achieve local food security.

Abstract

Pantai Batu Burung adalah salah satu destinasi wisata berbasis lingkungan pantai di Singkawang yang di tepian pantainya dikeiling pohon mangrove. Salain sebagai tempat wisata, wilayah ini juga digunakan sebagai jalur transportasi dan wilayah penangkapan ikan. Dengan aktivitas tersebut, memungkinkan terjadinya perubahan garis pantai, dan tentunya berpengaruh terhadap kualitas ekosistem mangrove yang dimilikinya. Pada kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini dilakukan rehabilitasi mangrove di pantai Batu Burung dengan tujuan untuk mengedukasi peserta kegiatan melalui ceramah edukatif tentang pentingnya menjaga kelestarian ekosistem mangrove, dirangkaikan dengan giat langsung penanaman mangrove di kawasan tersebut.  Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 30 orang peserta yaitu mahasiswa bersama masyarakat setempat untuk bersinergi dalam rehablitasi mangrove di kawasan Pantai Batu Burung. Edukasi tentang bagaimana memelihara lingkungan pesisir agar tidak terdegradasi akibat aktivitas manusia, dilakukan di areal penanaman mangrove dengan metode ceramah. Selanjutnya dilakukan penanaman pohon mangrove Rhizopora sp. sebanyak 33 batang bibit untuk setiap peserta. Evaluasi kegiatan ini menunjukkan keberhasilan penanaman 1000 pohon mangrove Rhizopora di pantai Batu Burung, dan kuisioner yang dibagikan di awal dan akhir kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam memahami  pentingnya melakukan rehabilitasi terhadap \ ekosistem pesisir dan menjaganya dari kerusakan terutama diakibatkan oleh aktivitas manusia. Rehabilitation of the Mangrove Ecosystem in the Batu Burung Beach Tourism Destination Area, Singkawang City Abstract: Batu Burung Beach is one of the environmentally based coastal tourist destinations in Singkawang, with mangrove trees lining its shoreline. Apart from serving as a tourist attraction, this area is also used for transportation routes and fishing activities. With these activities, it is possible for changes in the coastline to occur, which, of course, have an impact on the quality of its mangrove ecosystem. In this Community Service activity, mangrove rehabilitation is carried out at Batu Burung Beach with the aim of educating participants through informative lectures on the importance of preserving the mangrove ecosystem, coupled with direct mangrove planting in the area. This activity is attended by 30 participants, including students and local residents, to work together in rehabilitating the mangroves at Batu Burung Beach. The evaluation of this activity shows the successful planting of 1000 Rhizophora mangrove trees at Batu Burung Beach. Education on how to maintain the coastal environment so that it is not degraded due to human activities is carried out in mangrove planting areas using the lecture method. Next, 33 Rhizopora mangrove seeds were planted for each participant and questionnaires distributed at the beginning and end of the activity show an increase in students' ability to understand the importance of rehabilitating the condition of coastal ecosystems and protecting them from damage, especially caused by human activities.

Abstract

Composting is an effort to reduce waste discharge into the environment, thereby reducing environmental pollution. Compost, made from dry or wet leaves, can be used to fertilize the soil, thereby reducing the use of chemical fertilizers which over time can cause poverty in soil nutrients. Composting training for school children at SMPN 5 Kubu Raya aims to train students so they can understand the management of waste into compost and its benefits for the environment. This activity was carried out at SMPN 5 Kubu Raya school, using a lecture and demonstration method for making compost using a simple method, in the form of fermenting a mixture of dry and wet leaves in a closed container. Monitoring and evaluation of activities is carried out during the activity. The evaluation results show the ability of SMPN 5 Kubu Raya students to make compost from a mixture of dry leaves and wet leaves, and understand the importance of processing compost to be used to re-fertilize the soil.

Abstract

Uncaria gambier Roxb is a plant from the Rubiaceae family, belongs to the Bajakah group and has been used empirically in the treatment of various types of diseases in the community. Besides being one of the industrial plants and export commodities produced in Sumatra and Kalimantan, gambier leaves is also used frequently in Indonesia, both for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. As a result, market demand both nationally and internationally have increased. The aim of this research are determination of antioxidant activity of ethanol extract and aqueous extract of gambir claw using 1,1-diphenil-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and determination of total phenol using Calcetau folin reagent. Gambier plant samples were taken in the forest area around the Tanjungpura University campus, the claws were separated and dried at room temperature, then powdered and extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol pa and aquadest, then the extract was concentrated until it was ready to be tested for antioxidant activity and determination of total phenol. The total phenolic ethanol extract and aqueous extract of gambir claw were 224.66 mg GAE/g extract (GEA : Gallic Acid Eqivalent) and 299.08 mg GAE/g extract, respectively, while the antioxidant potential (IC50) was 39.566 μg/mL and 65.140 μg/mL, and the IC50 for comparison of Vitamin C was 7.02 μg/mL.

Abstract

Avicenna lanata is a type of mangrove that dominates the Mempawah Kecil Mangrove Forest. As many as 10 bacterial genera were identified from station 1 which is close to the influence of sea water, and 8 bacterial genera from station 2 which are close to residential areas. This study aims to determine the rate of decomposition of A. lanata leaf litter with 4 observation time periods with an interval of 15 days, namely the 15th, 30th, 45th and 60th days. The observations show that the rate of decomposition of the litter on the 15th day of observation is higher. Namely 0.206 gram/day at station I and 0.19 gram/day at station II, while the lowest rate of decomposition of litter occurred on the 60th day of observation, namely 0.112 gram/day at station I and 0.106 gram/day at station II. In addition, the parameters of physical and chemical of the environment such as DO, temperature, pH and salinity are in the range of their optimum values.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan teknologi smart green house berbasis IoT untuk mengoptimalkan fungsi green house. Sistem ini mengontrol dan memantau suhu ruangan, kelembapan ruangan, kelembapan tanah, dan pH tanah di green house melalui smartphone. ESP32 digunakan sebagai mikrokontroler, dengan Blynk App sebagai platform IoT untuk memantau dan mengontrol lingkungan sesuai kondisi optimal bagi tanaman jahe. Penelitian menggunakan jahe merah dan putih berumur ± 3 bulan. Pengujian dilakukan pada dua kondisi: tanah tanpa tanaman dan tanah dengan tanaman jahe. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sensor dapat mengukur pH tanah, suhu, kelembapan udara, dan kelembapan tanah dengan nilai error: pH 2%, kelembapan tanah 11% (jahe merah) dan 7% (jahe putih). Error sensor suhu ruangan dan kelembapan ruangan untuk kedua jenis tanaman adalah 3% dan 5%. Rata-rata kenaikan tinggi jahe merah 3,8 cm dan jahe putih 2,4 cm dalam 2 minggu, serta peningkatan jumlah daun masing-masing 3 helai (jahe merah) dan 4 helai (jahe putih).
