Abstract

Program Asistensi Mengajar merupakan salah satu bentuk implementasi Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) yang bertujuan meningkatkan mutu pendidikan melalui keterlibatan langsung mahasiswa dalam kegiatan belajar-mengajar di satuan pendidikan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Kolaka Timur, Sulawesi Tenggara, dengan melibatkan 15 mahasiswa Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka. Metode yang digunakan mencakup observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi selama tiga bulan di SMPN 1 Lalolae serta SMPN 1, 2, dan 3 Tirawuta. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa kehadiran mahasiswa membantu memperkuat proses pembelajaran, meningkatkan motivasi siswa, serta mendorong keterlibatan masyarakat dalam mendukung pendidikan. Dampak positif terlihat dari antusiasme siswa yang lebih tinggi, variasi metode pembelajaran yang lebih kreatif, dan suasana belajar yang lebih interaktif. Kendala yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan pelatihan pedagogik bagi mahasiswa dan durasi program yang relatif singkat. Implikasi dari temuan ini menegaskan bahwa Asistensi Mengajar dapat menjadi model pengabdian berkelanjutan yang memberikan manfaat ganda, baik bagi sekolah maupun bagi mahasiswa sebagai calon pendidik.

Abstract

Writing is one of the difficult skills in a language. The difficulty of writing includes spelling, punctuation, word choices, and so on. However, many students already studied writing since middle school. As a result, many of them have not yet been able to write correctly. The aim of this paper is to find out an increase in descriptive writing skills by utilizing a concept map. This study used descriptive and quantitative research on car design. The sample was 20 students using purposive sampling. The instrument was an objective test. The procedure for collecting data used to test distribution and analysis data. The finding showed that students had excellent to very good achievement in writing skills through concept maps. It was indicated by the results of the mean score in the post-test.  it indicates that the student’s writing ability was in good to Very Good criteria. It means that writing a descriptive text with a concept map was better than writing descriptive text without a concept map. This research found the pedagogical implication that concept maps help teachers in providing active learning, creative, effective, and fun for students according to learning style. Newly, it can increase awareness of teachers on students’ learning difficulties and efforts to overcome their obstacles in writing.

Abstract

Vocabulary refers to the set of words that a person is familiar with in a particular language. It includes words that an individual understands, recognizes, and can use in speaking, writing, listening, and reading. The question of the research was “How can word square method improve the students’ vocabulary?”. The objective of the research was to improve the students’ vocabulary at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Tanggetada. This research was a classroom action research that followed a particular set of actions, namely: preliminary research, planning, action, observing, analyzing and reflecting in each cycle. The aim of this research was to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. The researcher used two instruments to obtain data, namely vocabulary tests that were administered on the fourth meeting of the first and second cycle, and observation sheets that were filled out throughout the meeting to observe the students’ behaviours during teaching and learning activities. The research resulted in significant improvement of the students' vocabulary mastery, as well as their activities in the classroom. There were two cycles in this research. The first cycle was failed because only 36% of the students were able to pass the minimum score (75)because the students did not yet understand the word square method. After the second cycle was implemented, and the researcher’s innovation in conducting word square in the classroom, 80% of the students were finally able to pass the minimum score which meant that the research was successful. Therefore, the research could be stopped.

Abstract

Pelatihan teknik presentasi poster ilmiah merupakan salah satu strategi penting dalam pengembangan kompetensi mahasiswa, khususnya dalam komunikasi ilmiah. Di era globalisasi, mahasiswa dituntut tidak hanya menguasai materi akademik, tetapi juga mampu menyampaikan ide dan hasil penelitian secara efektif. Poster ilmiah menjadi media visual yang ringkas, padat, dan menarik untuk menyampaikan informasi ilmiah, namun tidak semua mahasiswa memiliki keterampilan dalam penyusunannya. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk workshop yang dibagi menjadi tiga tahapan, yaitu kegiatan awal (asesmen kemampuan awal peserta), kegiatan inti (pemberian materi, pemodelan, diskusi, dan praktik), serta kegiatan akhir (evaluasi dan presentasi ulang). Peserta memperoleh pengetahuan dan pengalaman langsung dalam menyusun serta mempresentasikan poster ilmiah sesuai kaidah akademik dan estetika visual. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan peserta, terutama dalam hal struktur penyampaian, penggunaan bahasa ilmiah, desain visual poster, serta kepercayaan diri saat presentasi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi langsung dan dokumentasi video, yang menunjukkan bahwa indikator keberhasilan tercapai dengan baik. Pelatihan ini terbukti efektif dan relevan untuk diterapkan secara berkelanjutan. Kelebihannya terletak pada pendekatan interaktif dan praktik langsung, meskipun terbatas oleh waktu pelaksanaan dan jumlah peserta. Ke depan, pelatihan serupa dapat diperluas cakupannya serta diintegrasikan dengan teknologi digital guna menjawab tantangan komunikasi ilmiah di era modern.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and compare the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum by English teachers in urban and rural junior high schools in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. A qualitative comparative case study method was employed, involving four English teachers from two schools—one urban and one rural. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using an interactive qualitative analysis framework that included data reduction, data display, within-case analysis, cross-case analysis, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal notable differences in curriculum implementation practices and challenges across the two contexts. Urban teachers demonstrated pragmatic adaptation strategies, primarily focusing on material modification and internal collaboration within schools. In contrast, rural teachers exhibited high levels of pedagogical creativity and relied heavily on external collaborative networks, such as Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP). While both contexts faced pedagogical challenges, including low student motivation and limited vocabulary mastery, rural schools additionally encountered significant barriers related to inadequate digital infrastructure. This study underscores the importance of context-sensitive educational policies and targeted professional development programs to support equitable and effective implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum across diverse school settings.
