Abstract

The form of community service carried out by students is real work lectures (KKN). In an effort to educate the nation, one of the activities that needs to be carried out by KKN students is activities in the field of education. For this reason, counseling activities are carried out with the aim that KKN students are able to compile community service activity programs in the educational aspect. Counseling activities carried out by field supervisors and lecturers at UNIKA Medan to KKN students in Tanjung Beringin I Village, Sumbul District, Dairi Regency with the title "UNIKA Medan student service to the community through Real Work Lectures (KKN) in Tanjung Beringin I Village, Sumbul District, Dairi Regency". This activity can be carried out well and produces several KKN student activity programs in the field of Education, namely teaching Indonesian language lessons, English lessons, Mathematics lessons, reactivating religious studies, and helping teachers teach at PAUD. This activity targets elementary school students which also involves parents, teachers, village government, and village communities in Tanjung Beringin I Village, Sumbul District, Dairi Regency

Abstract

Pengembangan masyarakat melalui program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) di Desa Sungai Raya, Kecamatan Siempat Nempu Hulu, Kabupaten Dairi, merupakan upaya strategis untuk memperkuat kapasitas dan kesejahteraan masyarakat lokal. Program ini dirancang untuk memfasilitasi partisipasi aktif mahasiswa dalam berbagai kegiatan pemberdayaan, seperti pendidikan, kesehatan, ekonomi kreatif, dan pelestarian lingkungan. Metode pada pengabdian ini menggunakan metode service-learning. Tim pengabdian membantu menggali potensi lokal dan mengatasi tantangan yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam bidang-bidang tersebut, yang berdampak pada peningkatan kualitas hidup dan keberlanjutan pembangunan di Desa Sungai Raya. Program KKN ini juga menjadi wadah bagi mahasiswa untuk menerapkan ilmu pengetahuan yang telah diperoleh di bangku kuliah dalam konteks nyata, sekaligus memperkuat hubungan antara perguruan tinggi dan masyarakat.

Abstract

Penguasaan Bahasa Inggris merupakan salah satu skill yang begitu penting dalam era globalisasi ini dan minat dalam mempelajarinya adalah salah satu hal penting yang harus ditumbuhkan sejak kecil. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk Meningkatkan Minat Bahasa Inggris Dengan Menggunakan Teknik Guessing Games di Desa Bambu Mas. Program ini diinisiasi untuk membantu masyarakat khususnya anak anak di Desa Bambu Mas untuk meningkatkan minat dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris guna tuntutan jaman. Kegiatan pengabdian ini melibatkan serangkaian sesi pelatihan dan permainan guessing games yang dirancang untuk membuat proses belajar menjadi lebih menyenangkan dan interaktif. Metode ini dipilih karena dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif dan keterlibatan anak-anak dalam proses belajar. Evaluasi program dilakukan melalui observasi langsung untuk mengukur perubahan minat dan motivasi belajar. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam minat belajar bahasa Inggris setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini. Program ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik guessing games efektif dalam memacu meningkatkan minat belajar bahasa Inggris dan dapat direplikasi di komunitas lain dengan karakteristik serupa

Abstract

The research is intended to determine the best approach to managing classrooms. There are discussions regarding the comparison of approaches that have proven effective in designing effective classroom management. Student achievement could not be separated from a successful classroom management system. The learning environment in the class is based on how well teachers build effective classroom management systems. It leads to the students’ well-being in the learning process. In order to achieve a successful classroom management system, teachers tend to apply different approaches. There are some studies that deal with the application of these approaches in the process of creating such an effective classroom management system. Two of them are the behavior modification approach and the analytical pluralistic approach. This research is completed by using quantitative approach. The findings lead to the conclusion that certain approaches have proven better through this experimental research. At the end of the research, readers might benefit by taking the result of this research as a reference in their daily teaching.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were focused on English teachers’ perspectives on learner autonomy and to what extent English teachers felt their learners were autonomous in online reading comprehension in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. These research questions were answered by using observation, interview, and Likert-scale questionnaire in the form of qualitative method. The sample of this study was 26 English teachers in 4 elementary schools and 5 junior high schools in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The results of the study showed some points on learner autonomy, such as: (1) the importance of learner autonomy, (2) the way English teachers promoted learner autonomy, (3) the challenges and responsibilities of English teachers to implement learner autonomy, (4) English teachers’ observation to learners’ autonomy in online reading comprehension, (5) learners’ activities in online reading comprehension strategy, and (6) English teachers’ preparation in online reading comprehension class. This research concluded that the degree of learners’ autonomy during the pandemic was higher rather than before the COVID-19 pandemic due to some reasons.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh model pembelajaran SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visuallization, Intellectualy) terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada tema 8 lingkungan sahabat kita di kelas V SD Negeri 067246 Medan Tuntungan Tahun pembelajaran 2023/2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 30 siswa dengan pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampel purposive. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran SAVI termasuk kedalam kategori baik dengan rata-rata 79,6 dan hasil uji normalitas 0,200 dengan hasil korelasi sebesar 0.838

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kontekstual terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS kelas IV SD Negeri 067093 Medan Helvetia Tahun Pembelajaran 2023/2024. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan jenis penelitian kuantitatif. Untuk memperoleh data yang diperlukan instrument tes sebanyak 26 pertanyaan. Jumlah sampel penelitian sebanyak 30 siswa berdasarkan teknik purposive sample. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan awal siswa, peneliti melakukan pretest dengan nilai rata-rata 56,06. Dan hasil dari posttest tersebut memiliki peningkatan dari pretest yang diberikan sebelumnya  dengan nilai rata-rata siswa mencapai 80,03

Abstract

This research was conducted in order to find out wheter LRD Strategy can improve students’ Reading Comprehension in Recount Text and to know the students’ responses toward the learning reading comprehension through LRD Strategy. The subjects of this research were the tenth grade students at SMA Budi Murni 3 Medan. In conducting this research, the writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of the research. The data collected used quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data was gained from the result of pre-test, formative test and post-test. Meanwhile, qualitative data was gained from the result of field notes, observation sheets and questionnaire toward students and teacher activity. The result showed that LRD Strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension especially in recount text. The improvement can be seen from the student’s mean score in the pre-test is 52.41, in the formative test is 74.48, and in the post-test is 80. Furthermore, the students’ responses toward the method of the teaching learning process sound great because above 90% of the students are interested, motivated and understand the lesson with LRD Strategy.

Abstract

This research analyzed the kinds of slangword used in harry potter and the chamber of secrets movie. The objectives of this research were to find out the kinds of slang word in harry potter and the chamber of secrets movie, found the most dominant kind of slang word used and the meaning of the most dominant slang word that used. This research applied descriptive qualitative research. The source of data was Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets movie. There were one season film had been analyzed. Based on the analysis, there were three kinds of slang word used in harry potter and the chamber of secrets movie, there were fresh and creative slang word, compounding slang word, and imitative slang word. It consisted of 32 slang word of fresh and creative (82,7%), 51 slang word of compounding (59%), and 3 imitative of slang word (4%). The slang word “muggle” most dominant slang word used in this movie.
