Abstract

This paper aims to identify the factors affecting self-esteem and confidence among educators and how these factors influence their teaching effectiveness. The study employs a qualitative approach to explore self-esteem and lecturer performance. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed both concurrently and post-collection to ensure comprehensive understanding and immediate adjustment of interview questions as needed. The findings revealed that lecturers with low self-esteem and confidence often struggle with managing emotions and maintaining a balanced psychological state. The most significant contributor to low confidence was found to be an individual's personality, specifically their ability to control emotions. The study demonstrated that the primary driver of self-esteem is not stress, but an imbalance in mental processes. Additionally, this research developed a scale to measure self-esteem using two dimensions: acute fatigue and cognitive distortion. For confidence, the scale includes the dimensions of certainty and the reduction of certainty. These scales provide valuable tools for assessing and addressing issues of self-esteem and confidence among educators, ultimately contributing to improved teaching effectiveness and educational quality. The study contributes to the existing literature by highlighting the role of personality traits and emotional regulation in lecturer burnout and self-esteem, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach in addressing these issues in higher education.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, the surge in e-commerce transactions underscores the need for innovative strategies to enhance user satisfaction, trust, and sustainable app usage. This research focuses on the Midi Kriing App, operated by PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk, a key player in the e-commerce industry. The study aims to bridge knowledge gaps by investigating factors influencing user intention, specifically e-service quality and e-trust, and their impact on user satisfaction. Employing a quantitative approach with an associative design, data was gathered from 190 Midi Kriing App users in Surabaya, Indonesia. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), particularly Partial Least Squares (PLS) in SmartPLS, was utilized to explore relationships between variables. Research findings indicate that e-service quality and e-trust significantly impact user satisfaction, with a p-value of 0.00. Similarly, user satisfaction significantly influences the intention to use the Midi Kriing App, with a p-value of 0.00. Among these hypotheses, the statistical t-value of user satisfaction with the intention to use the Midi Kriing App, at 9.871, is higher than the relationship between e-service quality and e-trust with user satisfaction. Nevertheless, these hypothesis tests confirm statistically significant relationships, supporting the reliability and significance of each construct's measurement instruments. In conclusion, this research emphasizes the pivotal role of satisfaction in its relation to e-service quality, e-trust, and the intention to use the Midi Kriing App. Managerial implications stress the importance of enhancing these factors to drive app usage. Improving e-service quality can be achieved through active efforts such as enhancing responsiveness, reliability, and user-friendliness. Similarly, building e-trust involves securing user data and providing a positive user experience.

Abstract

Environmental problems are a crucial issue faced by major cities in Indonesia, including Surabaya, due to high urbanization and excessive human activities that cause air, water, and soil pollution. Efforts to overcome this problem require an active role of the community in protecting and preserving the environment, with one effective way is to instill the character of caring for the environment from an early age to city residents. Environmental care character education aims to form individuals who not only have knowledge about the importance of the environment, but also have attitudes and behaviors that support environmental conservation. The city of Surabaya, as a big city, is responsible for being an example in the application of this education. This community service program is designed to provide education and training to Surabaya residents on the importance of protecting the environment, involving various elements of society such as school students, parents, and local communities. Through a participatory approach, it is expected that Surabaya residents will become more aware and responsible for their surroundings. The program focuses not only on theory but also real practice such as recycling programs, tree planting, and plastic use reduction campaigns. Through this program, it is hoped that a new generation will be formed that is more concerned and responsible for the environment, making Surabaya a model city in character education caring for the environment. The implementation in Jambangan Village using PRRA and RRA community participation methods ensures that the process runs synergistically between universities, government, and the community. The results show increased public awareness and participation in environmental conservation, with noticeable changes in behavior and increased participation in environmental activities. Challenges such as limited resources and the need for program expansion still exist, but continuous support from the government and the private sector is expected to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of this program. Overall, this program has a significant positive impact and can be a model for other cities in Indonesia in an effort to preserve the environment and build the character of people who care about the environment

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of social networks in facilitating access to capital and resources for start-up entrepreneurs in Indonesia. As a literature review employing a qualitative approach, the research utilizes secondary data sourced from Google Scholar between 2003–2024, selecting 19 articles. Descriptive analysis explores how social networks, encompassing personal relationships, business communities, and digital platforms, assist start-up entrepreneurs in overcoming challenges related to accessing capital, knowledge, and collaboration opportunities. Findings indicate that social networks play a critical role in creating funding opportunities through interpersonal connections, leveraging crowdfunding platforms, and establishing strategic connections via business communities and social media. Relevant case studies highlight the success of start-up entrepreneurs in Indonesia who have utilized social networks to expand their businesses and overcome operational challenges. However, the study also finds that the effectiveness of social networks depends on digital literacy, relationship-building capabilities, and community support. Digital literacy training, strengthening business communities, and educating entrepreneurs on leveraging social networks should be prioritized to support the growth of start-up entrepreneurs in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze price variations at both the producer and consumer levels (1), investigate price transmission elasticity (2), and assess the degree of integration in the vertical corn market between producers (farmers) and consumers (retailers) in East Java Province (3). The analysis of market integration serves as vital input for the government in formulating agricultural development policies within the research area. Conducted as a quantitative study, this research utilized secondary data, specifically monthly time series data spanning from January 2018 to December 2021. The data included corn price information at the producer level sourced from the Agriculture and Food Security Office of East Java Province, and consumer-level corn price data obtained from the East Java Province Industry and Trade Office (SiSKAPERBAPO website). The data underwent descriptive quantitative analysis. The findings reveal that the coefficient of price variation at the producer level is 8.9 percent, indicating high fluctuation and instability, whereas at the consumer level, it stands at 2.8 percent, signifying lower and stable fluctuations. The price elasticity (et) of corn for the years 2019-2021 was calculated as 0.0033 (inelastic), -0.2029 (inelastic), and 2.6359 (elastic), respectively. These results suggest that the rate of price change at the consumer level exceeded that at the producer level (an et value > 1 indicates inefficient corn marketing). The analysis of corn market integration in East Java reveals weak integration between producer and consumer markets in both the short and long terms. This indicates imperfect transmission of market information by market participants, particularly large traders who play a significant role as price setters.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the decline in Indonesia's coffee exports and to formulate strategies to enhance these exports. Using a quantitative methodology, data from 1991 to 2021 were analyzed via regression analysis employing SPSS software. The independent variables considered included coffee production volume, harvested coffee land area, the GDP of the United States, and the exchange rate of the Indonesian Rupiah to the US Dollar. The results indicate that Indonesia's coffee production and harvested area significantly influence export volumes. The regression model developed demonstrated a moderate explanatory power with an R² value of 53%, indicating that the model explains 53% of the variance in coffee exports. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test confirmed the model's significance, highlighting that the included variables collectively impact coffee exports. Partial t-test analysis revealed that the harvested area, producer coffee prices, and exchange rates are significant factors. The study concludes that enhancing the quality and competitiveness of Indonesian coffee, improving infrastructure, and adopting supportive government policies are crucial strategies to boost coffee exports. These efforts must address the challenges posed by global market dynamics, competition, and environmental factors to ensure the sustainable growth of Indonesia's coffee sector.
