Abstract

This paper aims to identify the factors affecting self-esteem and confidence among educators and how these factors influence their teaching effectiveness. The study employs a qualitative approach to explore self-esteem and lecturer performance. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed both concurrently and post-collection to ensure comprehensive understanding and immediate adjustment of interview questions as needed. The findings revealed that lecturers with low self-esteem and confidence often struggle with managing emotions and maintaining a balanced psychological state. The most significant contributor to low confidence was found to be an individual's personality, specifically their ability to control emotions. The study demonstrated that the primary driver of self-esteem is not stress, but an imbalance in mental processes. Additionally, this research developed a scale to measure self-esteem using two dimensions: acute fatigue and cognitive distortion. For confidence, the scale includes the dimensions of certainty and the reduction of certainty. These scales provide valuable tools for assessing and addressing issues of self-esteem and confidence among educators, ultimately contributing to improved teaching effectiveness and educational quality. The study contributes to the existing literature by highlighting the role of personality traits and emotional regulation in lecturer burnout and self-esteem, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach in addressing these issues in higher education.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, the surge in e-commerce transactions underscores the need for innovative strategies to enhance user satisfaction, trust, and sustainable app usage. This research focuses on the Midi Kriing App, operated by PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk, a key player in the e-commerce industry. The study aims to bridge knowledge gaps by investigating factors influencing user intention, specifically e-service quality and e-trust, and their impact on user satisfaction. Employing a quantitative approach with an associative design, data was gathered from 190 Midi Kriing App users in Surabaya, Indonesia. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), particularly Partial Least Squares (PLS) in SmartPLS, was utilized to explore relationships between variables. Research findings indicate that e-service quality and e-trust significantly impact user satisfaction, with a p-value of 0.00. Similarly, user satisfaction significantly influences the intention to use the Midi Kriing App, with a p-value of 0.00. Among these hypotheses, the statistical t-value of user satisfaction with the intention to use the Midi Kriing App, at 9.871, is higher than the relationship between e-service quality and e-trust with user satisfaction. Nevertheless, these hypothesis tests confirm statistically significant relationships, supporting the reliability and significance of each construct's measurement instruments. In conclusion, this research emphasizes the pivotal role of satisfaction in its relation to e-service quality, e-trust, and the intention to use the Midi Kriing App. Managerial implications stress the importance of enhancing these factors to drive app usage. Improving e-service quality can be achieved through active efforts such as enhancing responsiveness, reliability, and user-friendliness. Similarly, building e-trust involves securing user data and providing a positive user experience.

Abstract

Environmental problems are a crucial issue faced by major cities in Indonesia, including Surabaya, due to high urbanization and excessive human activities that cause air, water, and soil pollution. Efforts to overcome this problem require an active role of the community in protecting and preserving the environment, with one effective way is to instill the character of caring for the environment from an early age to city residents. Environmental care character education aims to form individuals who not only have knowledge about the importance of the environment, but also have attitudes and behaviors that support environmental conservation. The city of Surabaya, as a big city, is responsible for being an example in the application of this education. This community service program is designed to provide education and training to Surabaya residents on the importance of protecting the environment, involving various elements of society such as school students, parents, and local communities. Through a participatory approach, it is expected that Surabaya residents will become more aware and responsible for their surroundings. The program focuses not only on theory but also real practice such as recycling programs, tree planting, and plastic use reduction campaigns. Through this program, it is hoped that a new generation will be formed that is more concerned and responsible for the environment, making Surabaya a model city in character education caring for the environment. The implementation in Jambangan Village using PRRA and RRA community participation methods ensures that the process runs synergistically between universities, government, and the community. The results show increased public awareness and participation in environmental conservation, with noticeable changes in behavior and increased participation in environmental activities. Challenges such as limited resources and the need for program expansion still exist, but continuous support from the government and the private sector is expected to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of this program. Overall, this program has a significant positive impact and can be a model for other cities in Indonesia in an effort to preserve the environment and build the character of people who care about the environment

Abstract

This study investigates how palm oil farmers can enhance their productivity and welfare through strategic partnerships with cooperatives, with a focus on the Sinar Berkah Cooperative. Using a quantitative approach and employing structural equation modeling (SEM), the research examines the influence of cooperative membership, access to resources, education and training, and government support on farmers’ productivity. Data was collected from both primary and secondary sources, with respondents purposefully selected from the largest farmer groups within the cooperative. Key findings highlight the significant role of resource access—such as capital, raw materials, and technology—in driving productivity improvements. The study also underscores the cooperative’s critical role in facilitating legal recognition and improving market access, helping farmers overcome business challenges. However, it reveals that current education and training initiatives, along with government support, have not yet yielded significant improvements in productivity. These findings suggest that more targeted interventions are required to fully realize the potential benefits of such partnerships. The SEM analysis provides insights into the key factors influencing the productivity and welfare of oil palm farmers, offering valuable recommendations for enhancing business outcomes through more efficient and supportive cooperative-farmer collaborations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of agricultural food institutions at the farmer level in enhancing rice productivity in Lamongan Regency, East Java. It examines the contributions of these institutions to productivity and identifies strategies to optimize their functions, thereby improving the overall business environment for farmers. Employing a descriptive research method with a survey design, primary data were collected through structured interviews and direct observations from agricultural extension workers and farmers, complemented by secondary data from relevant publications. The findings indicate that agricultural food institutions play a moderately effective role in boosting rice production, influenced by factors such as land ownership, farmer group participation, access to technology, and market access. Specifically, effective land management and high soil quality positively affect productivity, while appropriate technology and active engagement in farmer groups further enhance yields. However, challenges such as inadequate land management practices, the need for technological innovation, limited farmer participation in group activities, and insufficient market access hinder optimal productivity. This study contributes to understanding the intersection of institutional dynamics and agricultural productivity and offers insights for strengthening agricultural institutions to support sustainable agricultural development. Future research should explore different regions and crops and delve deeper into market dynamics, technological innovations, and policy interventions to enhance farmer welfare and productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model of purchasing decisions and their impact on consumer satisfaction when buying hydroponic lettuce. It specifically investigates how product quality, service quality, consumer preferences, and purchasing decisions directly affect consumer satisfaction. Additionally, it examines the indirect influence of product and service quality on consumer satisfaction through purchasing decisions. Utilizing a quantitative research methodology, data was collected via a structured questionnaire employing a Likert scale to measure respondents' attitudes. The sample consisted of 75 consumers of hydroponic lettuce from Level One MSMEs. The analysis involved various statistical tests, including outer model testing for validity and reliability, goodness-of-fit assessments, and hypothesis testing to explore the relationships among five key variables: purchasing decisions, consumer satisfaction, consumer preferences, service quality, and product quality. Findings indicate that while product quality does not significantly influence purchasing decisions, both service quality and consumer preferences have substantial effects on these decisions, ultimately impacting consumer satisfaction. Moreover, the study highlights the importance of understanding the multifaceted factors influencing consumer decision-making, suggesting that future research should explore a broader range of products and additional variables, such as brand loyalty, to gain deeper insights into consumer behavior.
