Abstract

This study was conducted which aimed at investigating effective commands used by teachers in TK Aura Sukma Insani to overcome disruptive behaviors by identifying: 1) the types of disruptive behavior done by students, 2) the types of command used by the teachers, and 3) the commands which are effective based on students’ responses. Teachers and students from A2, A1, and toddler class were the subject of the study while disruptive behaviors done by the students and commands used by the teacher were the object of the study. All the data were gathered through observation, questionnaire, and interview. The result revealed that there were 145 disruptive behaviors found and seven type of commands used by the teachers including question command, regular command, indirect command, don’t command, stop command, negative command and other command. Moreover, most of the commands given were effective based on the effects on students’ behavior. From the result, it could be concluded that regular command and other command were the most effective types of command used by teachers to overcome disruptive behaviors because the commands related were clear, understandable, and simple. Therefore, the student were easy to understand what the teachers intended.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the classroom management practices by an EFL teacher at an inclusive school. There were four major aspects of classroom management as the focus of this research. Those are rules, physical environment, classroom climate, and teacher's role. The subject of this study was an English teacher in class XI MM 2 at SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja. This study was a case study with qualitative research design. The methods of data collection were observation and interview. The findings showed that the classroom management practices by the teacher were successful to be implemented for both the inclusive and regular students. The rules created and communicated by the teacher were effective to develop the students' behaviour and attitude as well as support the learning process. For the physical environment, the teacher provided spacious space for the physical disability student to move freely. The teacher gave positive and negative reinforcements for the students' attitude and behaviour. Besides, the teacher modified the lesson plan, instruction, and assessment based on the student's special needs. However, the teacher did not interact directly with the inclusive student's parents and it should be done to support the learning process. In addition, there was no special escort teacher and training for the teacher to support the learning process.

Abstract

Disabled student learns based on 2013 curriculum in an inclusive school. This student learns the same material with regular students. To help disabled student understands the material, the teacher should use an appropriate teaching strategy. Differentiated instruction is a teaching strategy of providing different options for students. It has 4 terms namely content, process, product, and learning environment. This study aimed at investigating the implementation of English teacher's differentiated instruction to disabled student in an inclusive school. This study was a qualitative research which employs a case study research design. The study was conducted in MM2 (Multi Media) class at SMKN 3 Singaraja as an inclusive school. The subject was an English teacher who already attended some workshops to teach disabled student. The data were gathered by observation and interview. The results showed that the English teacher differentiated the topics of the text, examples, sources, and the ways of explaining and reviewing the material in term of content. The teacher also gave pre-assessment to determine the topic for students' video. In term of process, the teacher sometimes differentiated the choices and instructions for disabled student and regular students. The teacher did not differentiate the product made by disabled student and regular students but sometimes differentiated the challenge, the topic, and the criteria. In term of learning environment, the teacher usually provided enough space, arranged the seatmate and seat for disabled student than regular students. She gave different rules or instructions depending on where the learning took place.

Abstract

Menulis adalah salah satu keterampilan produktif dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Ada berbagai macam pendekatan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis. Salah satunya adalah dengan pendekatan Genre Based Approach. Menulis adalah salah satu keterampilan yang susah dikuasai peserta didik, oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah keterampilan menulis dengan mengimplementasikan pendekatan Genre based approach dalam menulis teks explanation. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. PTK akan berjalan dalam dua siklus. Fokus dalam penelitian ini akan dibatasi pada hasil unjuk kerja menulis peserta didik yang akan dinilai menggunakan rubrik menulis. 19 orang peserta didik kelas 11 IIS 1 di SMA Laboratorium Undiksha dipilih menjadi subjek penelitian. Pre-test dan post-test digunakan untuk mengambil data nilai hasil unjuk kerja menulis peserta didik. Sebagai tambahan, data yang diperoleh akan dianalisis dengan dukungan dari lembar observasi.. Hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukan bahwa masalah peserta didik dalam kurangnya keterampilan menulis dapat teratasi dengan digunakannya pendekata Genre based approach. Ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya lebih dari 75% peserta didik memiliki nilai diatas KKM dan memiliki peningkatan nilai keterampilan menulis pada post-test.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi mengajar dan peran guru dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar yang diimplementasikan di TK Santi Kumara. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah guru serta siswa-siswi dari grup B1 TK Santi Kumara pada tahun ajaran 2013-2014. Ada 4 instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembaran observasi, buku catatan, panduan wawancara dan kamera video. Sebagai acuan untuk menganalisis data, dua buah teori digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teori mengenai strategi mengajar dari Petrina (2007) dan teori mengenai peran-peran guru yang disebutkan oleh Harmer (2007). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat berbagai variasi strategi mengajar and peran guru yang diimplementasikan di TK Santi Kumara kecuali indirect instruction dan independent learning, dan peran guru sebagai tutor. Strategi mengajar dan peran guru yang paling sering diimplementasikan adalah direct instruction (58.76%) dan peran guru sebagai organizer (58.55 %). Dengan mengkombinasikan variasi strategi mengajar dan peran guru yang sesuai dalam kegiatan belajar dan mengajar, kelas dapat di atur dengan baik yang dapat dilihat dari keefektifan situasi di kelas dan kualitas proses belajar dan mengajar.Kata Kunci : Manajemen Kelas, Strategi Mengajar, Peran Guru This study aimed at describing instructional strategies and teacher’s roles in teaching and learning process which frequently implemented in TK Santi Kumara. The subjects of the study were the teacher and the students of group B1 in TK Santi Kumara in the academic years 2013-2014. There were 4 instruments which were used namely, observation sheets, field notes, interview guide and video camera. As the basic of analyzing the data, there were two theories used in this study, instructional strategies which were proposed by Petrina (2007) and teacher’s roles which stated by Harmer (2007). According to the results of the study, various instructional strategies and teacher’s roles were implemented in TK Santi Kumara except indirect instruction and independent learning, and teacher’s roles as a tutor. The Most frequently instructional strategies and teacher’s roles which were used were direct instruction (58.76%) and teacher’s roles as an organizer (58.55 %). Finally by combining various and appropriate instructional strategies and teacher’s roles in the teaching and learning process, the class is able to be managed well which can be seen from the effectiveness of situation in the class and the quality of the teaching and learning process. keyword : Classroom Management, Instructional Strategies, Teacher’s Roles

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tipe campur kode Indonesia-Inggris dan menganalisis tipe campur kode Indonesia-Inggris mana yang dominan digunakan dalam lagu-lagu yang dinyanyikan oleh Cinta Laura. Desain penelitian yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah desain deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek investigasi adalah penyanyi. Instrumen pokok adalah peneliti sendiri. Hasil analisis menemukan bahwa berdasarkan kerangka klasifikasi Ho (2007), hanya enam kelompok pola linguistik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: bentuk pendek, kata benda, kata leksikal, frasa, kalimat tidak lengkap dan kalimat penuh tunggal. Sementara itu, berdasarkan klasifikasi Kannovakun dan Gunther (2003), ada lima dari enam kelompok fitur nativized yang diterapkan, yaitu: pemotongan, hibridisasi, konversi, reduplikasi dan pergeseran susunan kata. Berdasarkan kerangka klasifikasi Ho (2007), pola linguistik tertinggi yang sering digunakan adalah kalimat penuh tunggal (54,2 %) diikuti oleh kata-kata leksikal (22,9 %), frasa (8,3 %), kalimat tidak lengkap (8,3 %), kata benda (4,1 %), dan bentuk pendek (2 %). Pola linguistik huruf alfabet tidak ditemukan dalam lagu. Sementara itu, berdasarkan pada fitur nativized diterapkan oleh Kannovakun dan Gunther (2003), reduplikasi ditemukan pada tingkat tertinggi pada 38,5 %, diikuti dengan hibridisasi dan pergeseran susunan kata yang berada di 23 %, pemotongan dan konversi di 7,7 %. Fitur nativized pergeseran semantik tidak ditemukan dalam lagu.Kata Kunci : campur kode, lagu This study aimed at analyzing the types of Indonesian-English code mixing and analyzing which types of Indonesian-English code mixing are dominantly used in songs sung by Cinta Laura. The research design used in this research was a descriptive qualitative design. The subject of investigation was the singer. The main instrument was the researcher himself. The result of the analysis found that based on Ho’s (2007) classification framework, only six groups of linguistic patterns applied in this research, namely: short forms, proper nouns, lexical words, phrases, incomplete sentences and single full sentences. Meanwhile, based on Kannovakun and Gunther (2003)’s classification, there were five of six groups of nativized features applied, namely: truncation, hybridization, conversion, reduplication and word order shift. Based on Ho’s (2007) classification framework, the linguistic pattern which was highest frequently used was single full sentences (54.2%) followed by lexical words (22.9%), phrases (8.3%), incomplete sentences (8.3%), proper nouns (4.1%), and short forms (2%). The linguistic pattern of letters of the alphabet was not found in the song. Meanwhile, based on the nativized features applied by Kannovakun and Gunther (2003), reduplication was found at the highest level at 38.5%, followed by hybridization and word order shift which were at 23%, truncation and conversion at 7.7%. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan penggunaan tata bahasa di dalam tulisan siswa kelas XI IPB SMA Negeri 1 Susut tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan penyebab dari kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 55 siswa yang terdiri dari 28 orang siswa kelas XI IPB1 dan 27 orang siswa kelas XI IPB3. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengumpulan teks narasi dan spoof yang ditulis oleh siswa, penyebaran kuesioner, dan wawancara. Hasil dari analisis data menunjukkan bahwa siswa masih melakukan kesalahan terkait dengan penggunaan kata kerja, kata ganti, preposisi dan artikel. Kesalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan siswa yaitu kesalahan dalam penggunaan kata kerja, ditandai dengan ditemukannya 477 (62.27%) buah kesalahan di dalam teks narasi, dan 404 buah di dalam teks spoof (65.21%). Frekuensi kesalahan dalam penggunaan preposisi cenderung paling sedikit dilakukan karena hanya ditemukan 78 (10.18%) di dalam teks narasi, dan 40 buah ditemukan di dalam teks spoof. Sedangkan kesalahan dalam penggunaan kata ganti dan artikel hamper sama besarnya di dalam kedua teks, dimana masing-masing dari dua jenis kesalahan tersebut mencapai 13-15% dari keseluruhan jumlah kesalahan di masing-masing teks. Sementara itu, kesalahan-kesalahan tersebut disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor yakni interlingual transfer (pengaruh bahasa pertama), dan intralingual transfer (overgeneralisasi, kesalahan dalam memahami konsep, kelalaian dalam penggunaan batasan aturan tata bahasa, dan penggunaan tata bahasa yang tidak lengkap). Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa kelas XI IPB SMA Negeri 1 Susut paling banyak melakukan kesalahan pengguanaan kata kerja, sedangkan kesalahan penggunaan preposisi paling sedikit dilakukan siswa. Selain itu, sebagian besar kesalahan tersebut disebabkan oleh pengaruh bahasa pertama siswa. Kata Kunci : kesalahan penggunaan tata bahasa, transfer This study was aimed at analyzing grammatical errors in writing committed by the students of XI IPB in SMA Negeri 1 Susut in academic year 2013/2014. This study also analyzed and described the causes of the errors committed by the students. The subject involved in this study was 55 students, in which twenty eight students were from XI IPB1 and the rest were from XI IPB3. The data were collected through collecting the students‘ narrative and spoof writings, distributing questionnaires, and conducting interview. The result of analysis revealed that the students commit errors in terms of verb form, pronoun, preposition, and article. The most committed errors are around the use of verb form, in which there are 477 (62.27%) in narrative texts, and 403(65.21%) in spoof texts. The frequency of preposition errors is at the least. This kind of errors are found as many as 78 (10.18%) in narrative texts, and 40 (5.83%) in spoof texts. Meanwhile, errors around the use of pronoun and article are both equally committed by the students, in which each error reaches 13-15% of the total errors in both texts. Those errors were caused by the intralingual transfer and interlingual transfer (overgeneralization, false concept of hypothesized, ignorance of rules restriction, and the incomplete application of rules). Therefore, it can be concluded that the students of XI IPB SMA Negeri 1 Susut still commit errors around the use of verb form, pronoun, preposition, and article, in which the most committed errors were verb form error.keyword : grammatical error, interlingual transfer, intralingual transfer

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan tata bahasa (grammar) yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas XII di SMK Pariwisata Triatma Jaya Singaraja pada saat menulis surat bisnis tahun ajaran 2013 / 2014. Pada penelitian ini kesalahan tata bahasa mengacu kepada penyimpangan atau kegagalan dalam menggunakan aturan bahasa Inggris pada saat menulis surat bisnis yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas XII di SMK Pariwisata Triatma Jaya Singaraja. Data ini diperoleh dengan mengumpulkan surat bisnis yang dibuat oleh siswa. Penelitian ini menekankan pada analisa jenis kesalahan tata bahasa yang dibuat oleh siswa dan penyebab terjadinya kesalahan dalam menggunakan tata bahasa. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa siswa membuat enam jenis kesalahan menggunakan tata bahasa, yaitu: kesalahan menggunakan verb, kesalahan menggunakan noun, kesalahan menggunakan conjunction, kesalahan menggunakan article, kesalahan menggunakan pronoun, dan kesalahan menggunakan preposition. Disamping itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukan bahwa kesalahan tata bahasa siswa disebabkan oleh transfer interlingual, transfer intralingual, konteks pembelajaran, dan strategi komunikasi. This study aims at analyzing the grammatical errors committed by the twelfth grade students of SMK Pariwisata Triatma Jaya Singaraja in writing business letter in the Academic Year 2013/ 2014. In this study, grammatical errors referred to noticeable deviations or failures in using language system of English in writing business letter made by the twelfth grade students of SMK Pariwisata Triatma Jaya Singaraja. The data were obtained by collecting students’ business letter writing. This study emphasized on analyzing on types of grammatical errors committed by the students and the causes of the errors. The study revealed that there were six types of grammatical errors committed by the students namely verb errors, noun errors, conjunction errors, article errors, pronoun errors, and preposition errors. Besides, it was also found that the errors made by the students were caused by interlingual transfer, intralingual transfer, context of learning, and communication strategies.keyword : business letter, errors, grammatical errors

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penilitian eksperimental yang berfokus pada tiga permasalahan utama yang bertujuan untuk menguji dampak dari communicative approach with picture series pada kempetensi menulis siswa dan pada tipe teks. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas delapan di SMPN 5 Amlapura. Communicative approach with and without picture series adalah variabel bebas, sedangkan kemampuan menulis siswa merupakan variabel terikat pada penelitian ini. Desain penelitian ini adalah posttest only control group design. Jumlah populasi sebanyak 9 kelas dengan total siswa 263 siswa. Cluster random sampling dilakukan dalam memilih dua kelas sebagai sampel. Satu kelas sebagai kelompok eksperimental dan satu kelas yang lainnya sebagai kelompok kontrol. Posttest dilaksanakn di akhir treatment dan hasil dari posttest dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial. One-way ANOVA digunakan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kompetensi menulis diantara dua kelompok. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan diantara dua kelompok dalam kompetensi menulis siswa. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa communicative approach with picture series menunjukkan dampak positif dalam kompetensi menulis siswa.Kata Kunci : Communicative approach, picture series, kompetensi menulis This study was and experimental study which focused on the three major problems that were aimed to test the effect of communicative approach with picture series on the students writing competency and on the text types, descriptive and narrative text. The subject of this study was the eighth grade students of SMPN 5 Amlapura. The independent variable was communicative approach with and without picture series and the dependent variable was writing competency. The research design of this study was posttest only control group design. The number of population was 9 classes with total number of the students were 263 students. Cluster random sampling was done in choosing the two classes as samples. One class was experimental group and the other one was control group. Posttest was administered at the end of the treatment and analyzed descriptively and inferentially. One-way ANOVA was used to know the differences between groups in writing competency. The result showed that there was significant differences between the two teaching techniques on students’ writing competency. In conclusion, communicative approach with picture series showed positive effect on writing competency.keyword : communicative approach, picture series, writing competency

dan frekwensi penggunaan makna dan penggunaan kata. Tiga masalah yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah tentang jumlah makna dan penggunaan kata yang siswa ingat, frekwensi siswa menggunakan makna dan penggunaan kata di dalam empat keterampilan berbahasa, dan hubungan antara memori dan frekwensi penggunaan makna dan penggunaan kata. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP N 5 Singaraja dan sampel yang digunakan adalah siswa kelas tujuh yang terdiri atas 62 siswa. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes dan kuesioner. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa jumlah makna dan penggunaan kata yang mampu diingat oleh siswa adalah paling banyak 115 kata (90%) dari jumlah total kata yaitu 128 kata. Sementara jumlah makna dan penggunaan kata yang paling sedikit diingat oleh siswa adalah 64 kata (50%). Kelas kata yang paling banyak siswa ingat tentang makna dan penggunaan kata adalah noun yaitu sebanyak 75% dan kelas kata yang paling sedikit diingat oleh siswa yaitu adverb sebanyak 42%. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa siswa mempergunakan makna dan penggunaan kata paling sering di dalam keterampilan membaca yaitu 62 siswa (100%) dan siswa tersebut sering menggunakan makna dan penggunaan kata dalam hal kelas kata yaitu noun, verb, adjective, and adverb di dalam keterampilan yang sama yaitu membaca. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terdapat suatu hubungan yang positif antara memori dan frekwensi penggunaan makna dan penggunaan kata. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan melihat Point-Biserial Correlation koefisien r yaitu 0.564. Kata Kunci : memori, frekwensi penggunaan makna dan penggunaan kata The objective of this research was to know whether there is any correlation between memory and uses of the words meanings and usages. There are there research problems were examined. It is about the total words meanings and usages remembered by the students, the uses of the words meanings and usages in the four language skills, and the correlation between memory and uses of the words meanings and usages. This research conducted at SMP N 5 Singaraja and the sample used was students in the seven grade consisted of 62 students. The data were collected using test and questionnaire. The result of test shows that the highest total number of words meanings and usages remembered by the students is 115 words (90%) from the total number of words is 128 words while the lowest total number of words meanings and usages remembered by the students is 64 words (50%). The most word class remembered by students in terms of word meanings and usages is noun that is 75% and word class adverb is 42% remembered by the students. The result of questionnaire shows that students used words meanings and usages frequently in reading. In reading, 62 students (100%) used words meanings and usages in terms of word class noun, verb, adjective, and adverb. The result of data analysis shows that there is a significant correlation between memory and uses of words meanings and usages. It could be seen by looking at the result of Point-Biserial Correlation coefficient r that is 0.564.keyword : memory, uses of words meanings and usages
