Abstract

Coding skills have become essential for young learners to develop computational thinking and creativity. This study explores the implementation of coding education to enhance computational thinking among elementary school students, particularly at SD Negeri 21 Dauh Puri Denpasar, where technological access is limited. A case study approach was applied with 28 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Findings revealed increased computational thinking scores from 56.3 to 74.8 after Scratch-based coding lessons. Significant improvements were observed in decomposition, pattern recognition, and algorithmic thinking, although abstraction remained challenging. Students demonstrated high enthusiasm, especially in creating animations and games. However, limited infrastructure and insufficient teacher training hindered optimal implementation. The study concludes that coding education can foster students' critical thinking and creativity but must be supported by structured teacher training and adequate technological resources. It recommends developing innovative and sustainable learning strategies to make coding an integral part of the elementary education curriculum in Indonesia.

Abstract

The importance of quality in education extends beyond mere numbers on report cards or accreditation, but encompasses the entire process and outcomes that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations. Superior quality will produce graduates who are competent, competitive, innovative, and ready to face the challenges of the times. Education is a key pillar of a nation's progress, yet it faces challenges of relevance and quality in the era of digital disruption. This article examines Total Quality Management (TQM) as a transformative paradigm in education. With a focus on customers (students), strong leadership, staff engagement, continuous improvement, a data-driven approach, and process management, TQM offers a holistic framework. Through a literature review, this article analyzes the principles, pillars, implementation strategies, and challenges and opportunities of TQM implementation in achieving sustainable educational excellence. The discussion shows that TQM can increase institutional competitiveness, produce quality graduates, strengthen reputations, and ensure innovation and relevance in education in the future. Abstract

The internalization of the character value of love for homeland is meant to unify differences and the spirit of love of country to bring together all groups, regardless of their culture, ethnicity, customs, and religion. However, violent incidents in the name of religion have frequently emerged and are known as radicalism in Indonesia. In response to this threat, the student council of Universitas Islam Jember, supported by the students and the rector, declared the campus anti-radicalism, stating that this declaration manifests their love for the country. For Universitas Islam Jember campus members under the auspices of the Nahdatul Ulama education foundation, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and the Pancasila ideology are non-negotiable principles. To analyze and describe the stages of internalizing the character values of love of country in preventing radicalism at the Islamic University of Jember. This research uses a qualitative approach, producing descriptive data in written or spoken words and observable behaviours about internalizing character values of love of country in preventing radicalism. The results of this study show that the character value of love of country is embodied in the rules of the campus institution under the auspices of the Nahdatul Ulama foundation, the campus vision and mission that are not only for Ahlussunnah Wal Jama'ah An Nahdliyah, but also have a high commitment to upholding Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, strengthening the love of country through PKKBM, seminars, and general courses, applying love of country through ceremonial events such as Independence Day, National Student Day, national recitation, and so on, singing national anthems and hubbul wathan in every important event or activity, displaying photos of the president, vice president, Garuda, and the campus and department vision and mission in every classroom, and declaring Universitas Islam Jember as an anti-radicalism campus. With the character value of love of country embedded and continuously reinforced, there is no room for radicalism to grow and develop. This is because everything applied and practised at the Universitas Islam Jember campus is contrary to the characteristics or indicators of radicalism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of spirituality-based public relations management in building the image of Islamic boarding schools in society, based on Fombrun's perspective. This study is based on the importance of Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions that educate students and contribute to the social and cultural welfare of the surrounding community. The research approach used is qualitative with a case study type, where data is collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data condensation, presentation, and conclusion. The study results indicate that the development of Fombrun's theory from the perspective of non-profit Islamic boarding school organizations produces the concept of “Panca Reputasi Pesantren”, which includes credibility, reliability, trustworthiness, responsibility, and local engagement elements. “Panca Reputasi Pesantren” integrates spiritual values with modern management strategies. This concept helps pesantren strengthen relationships with stakeholders and face competition with other educational institutions. This research has implications for expanding the concept of reputation in the context of non-profit organizations, primarily community-based religious institutions. It opens up space for further studies on spirituality-based reputation management.
