Abstract

ABSTRACT The research was conducted because of less confidence of student in giving question and opinion on learning process, less of teamwork in learning and low ability in understanding of mathematical concept it was shown by learning outcome of student on eight grades Junior High School 9 Padang. This research was aimed to find out whether students’ understanding of mathematical concept used cooperative learning type Roving Group teachnique will be better than used conventional learning on eight grades Junior High School 9 Padang. The research was an experiment study of the subject with a random design. The population was all student in eight grades whom were registered in academic year 2013/2014. Based on analysis of data obtained by the average results of the students’ understanding of mathematical concept experiment class was 80.69 it was higher than the result of control class which was 58,61. Thus, it can be concluded that understanding of mathematical concept of eight grades student in Junior High School 9 Padang used cooperative learning type Roving Group technique was better than used conventional learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of this research is student assume study of mathematics is difficult and boring and then comptehend of mathematics concepts of students is very low. The aims of this research is to know the students’ understanding of mathematical concept by applying Strategy Domino Game to understanding mathematical concept class student of VIII SMPN 11 Padang. The kind of this research is experimental research by random design towards the subject. The population in this research was students in VIII grade SMPN 11 Padang in school year 2013/2014. The sample Class choses VIII.C class as experimental class and VIII.B class as control class. The instrument which was used is final test. form of Tes the used is essay and obtained by problem which is reliabel. Technique of data analysis using t-test of the side with MINITAB software. Based the of hypothesis test obtained by P-Value 0,037 less than that is 0,05, hence research hypothesis accepted. Inferential that understanding of mathematical concept of student by using strategy Domino Game better than the understanding of mathematical concept of student use conventional study.

Abstract

ABSTRAK The low student learning outcomes and student activities in math , especially on the operations of material fractions in grade V Elementary School 33 West Rawang reflected in the average value of daily tests are still below the minimum completeness kreteri ( KKM ) which has been set at the beginning of the school year namely the classical completeness kreterial 75 and 80 % of the number of students . This study was conducted at the VA grade Elementary School 33 West Rawang where the procedures of the study consisted of four phases: planning , given action , observation and evaluation , and the last doing analysis and reflection . Data collection techniques taken from the students during learning activities and the results of tests of learning takes place . The success criteria as a benchmark in this study in the classical 80 % of the total student has reached the KKM. Dari study conducted on two cycles obtained a description of learning outcomes is an increase in the first cycle the average value of learning outcomes increased  66.43 to 79.9 the second cycle . Students in learning activities also showed that 59.5 % improvement in the first cycle , increased to 87.8 % in the second cycle . This indicates that the approach can increase the activity of contextual learning and student learning outcomes then the hypothesis proposed action is acceptable .

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe background reason of this research is the understanding of mathematical concept that still low among the 8th grade students of SMPN 4 Lembah Gumanti.  The aim of this research is to know whether the understanding of the mathematical concept will be better if cooperative learning method NHT and Sucker Ball game is applied rather that the concept given in conventional way to the 8th grade students of SMPN 4 Lembah Gumanti. The type of this research is experimental research, with random research design to subject. The instrument used for this research is the mathematical concept test and the student activity observation sheet. Data analysis was done by using Mann-Whitney test. Based on the result analysis. , its given that the Zhitung= -2,995 which is smaller than Ztabel, then the hypothesis if the research is acceptable. So it is concluded that the understanding of the mathematical concept of the student will be better by using the cooperative learning method NHT and Sucker Ball game rather than the conventional way of 8th grade students of SMPN 4 Lembah Gumanti.

Abstract

 The research are motivated by the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students that still low. The aim of this research to determine whether the mathtematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using active learning strategy type Everyone is a Teacher Here (ETH) accompanied Speed Test was better than that of students tought by using conventional learning. This was an experimental research. The population of the research was the students in class VIII SMPN 2 Painan. The instrument of research was an essay posttest whose reliability was 0.83. The result hypothesis test using MINITAB software obtained P-value = 0.001 was less than α = 0.05. It can be concluded that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students tought by using active learning strategy type Everyone is a Teacher Here (ETH) accompanied Speed Test was better than that of students tought by using conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 2 Painan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted based on the fact indicating that the students understanding on mathematic concept was still low, the smart students dominate the learning process while the low level of students don’t have opportunity to speak and giving argument. The aim of this research was to determine whether students understanding on mathematic concept by implementing cooperative learning technique Button Clatter is better than the students understanding on mathematic concept with conventional learning. This was an experimental research. The sampling technique is total sampling. XI IPS 2 selected as the experimental class and  the class as a class XI IPS 1 control. The instruments of the research was final test study with reliability 0,89. Based on the analysis of date, average valueof the experimental class is 71,82 with standard devition 18,37 and the average value of the control class is 53,82 with standard deviation 21,45. P-Value (0,001) which was smaller than α, Thus it was concluded that the student’s understanding on mathematic concept by implementing cooperative learning technique Button Clatter better then that of the conventional learning in class XI IPS MAN Palangki.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was designed for revealing whether understanding of mathematical concept by Guided Teaching active learning strategy was better than that by using conventional learning in class VIII of MTsN Talaok Bayang. This was an experimental research which used random toward the subject design. In collecting the data, an essay test on the conceptual understanding was used. The data collected was analyzed by using t-test. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that the two sample classes were normally distributed and homogenous. the result of hypothesis test showed that the understanding of mathematical concepts by Guided teaching active learning strategy was better than that by using conventional learning in class VIII of MTsN Talaok Bayang

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was motivated by the students understanding of mathematical concepts was still low. This study aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying Bisnis Berisiko Technique than students understanding of mathematical concepts with the application of conventional learning. This was an experimental research which used Pre-Experimental Design: Static Group Comparison. The population of the research was the students in class VIII of MTsN Durian Tarung Padang registered in academic year 2013/2014. The instrument of the research was a posttest. The data collected was analyzed by using software MINITAB. The result of the research showed that the average score of the students in the experimental group was 54,01 and in the control class was 28,44. The result of the t-test indicated that the hypothesis was accepted. Based on these results, it was concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying Bisnis Berisiko Technique was better than the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning in class VIII of MTsN Durian Tarung Padang.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aimed to know the understanding of mathematic concept at eight grade junior high school students number 1 (one) in Pasaman Kabupaten Pasaman Barat by using active learning strategy with Learning type Starts With A Question is more better than conventional learning. Kind of this research is experiment research by design random of the subject. The population of this research is the students of eight grade junior high school number 1 (one) in Pasaman. The technique taked of the sample is random; the elected sample classes are VIII5 as experiment class and VIII6 as control class. Instruments that used in this research is final test in the form of an essay. Data that obtained in analysis by using normality test, homogenity test and t-test. Based on the result of hypothesis test by software MINITAB  to obtained P-value = 0,006 smaller from α = 0,05, so the hypothesis of this research is accepted. So we can conclude that the student’s understanding of mathematic concept by using active learning strategy with Learning Type Starts With A Question is more better than the student’s understanding concept by conventional leaning at eight grade junior high school students number 1 (one) in Pasaman Kabupaten Pasaman Barat in academic year 2013/2014 with confidence level is 95%.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted based on the facts showing that the students understanding on mathematical concept was still low and they were not accustomed to be involved in a discussion in class VIII of SMPN 8 Bukittinggi. This research was intended to see whether the use of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) strategy with quiz could improve the students’ understanding on mathematical concept better than that of the conventional learning. This was an experimental research which used random toward subject design. The instruments of the research were a quiz and a test on mathematical conceptual understanding. Based on the result of data analysis, it was revealed that the sample was normally distributed and homogeny. The result of hypothesis by examining t showed that P-value was less than α. This result indicated that the use of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) strategy with quiz could improve the students’ understanding on mathematical concept was better than that of the conventional learning.
