Abstract

The occurrence of maternal deaths is related to direct causal factors and indirect causes. The direct causes of maternal death in Indonesia are still dominated by factors. by bleeding, eclampsia, and infection, while the indirect factors causing maternal death are because there are still many cases, 3 too late and 4 too late, which are related to access, socio-cultural, educational and economic factors. This research uses a combination method with a sequential explanatory design. The first uses quantitative methods, and the second uses qualitative methods. A quantitative approach is used to identify and explain variables that influence behavior such as knowledge, attitudes, facilities and encouragement of officers. A qualitative approach is used to support and complement quantitative research results. The chi-square test shows that there is a significant relationship between knowledge, facilities and encouragement of health workers on the behavior of pregnant women in pregnancy checks. P value = 0.001. If the significance value is <0.05, it is recognized that there is a statistically significant correlation. Meanwhile, attitudes show no statistical correlation. The logistic regression test shows that there is an influence between knowledge and facilities on the behavior of pregnant women. There are two substantial findings, namely regarding knowledge about antenatal care and the availability of facilities which influence the behavior of pregnant women in antenatal care.

Abstract

Background: Postpartum depression (PPD) is a common mental health problem among postpartum mothers that adversely affects the well-being of both mother and child. The prevalence of PPD in Indonesia is considerably higher than in many other developing countries. Sociodemographic factors play a crucial role as primary determinants of PPD. However, a local predictive model that simultaneously considers these variables is still lacking. Objective: To examine the association between sociodemographic characteristics (education, income, parity, pregnancy status, and age) and the occurrence of postpartum depression. Methods: This analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 84 postpartum mothers in Indonesia between August 2024 and July 2025. Samples were obtained using accidental sampling. Data were collected using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). The Chi-square test and bivariate logistic regression were employed for data analysis. Results: Husbands’ income below the regional minimum wage increased the risk of PPD by 13.5 times (95% CI: 3.6–50.7; p<0.001). Low educational level increased the risk by 3.5 times (95% CI: 1.2–10.2; p=0.024), primiparity by 2.7 times (95% CI: 1.0–7.1; p=0.046), and unplanned pregnancy by 10.1 times (95% CI: 2.8–36.4; p<0.001). Maternal age was not significantly associated with PPD (p=0.65). Conclusion: Sociodemographic factors such as low income, low educational attainment, and primiparity are key determinants of postpartum depression. Early detection and interventions targeting social risk factors are essential to reduce the prevalence of PPD.

Abstract

Ny. Abstract

Background: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) remain a major global public health challenge. Each year, approximately 41 million deaths, or nearly three-quarters of all global deaths, are caused by NCDs. Of these, approximately 17 million occur in people under 70 years of age, with the majority of cases (86%) occurring in low- and middle-income countries. This situation demands the strengthening of sustainable promotive and preventive strategies, one of which is through the implementation of the Healthy Living Community Movement.Purpose: Health promotion to increase knowledge, awareness, and community involvement in NCD prevention through the implementation of the Healthy Living Community Movement at the community level.Method: Community service was conducted at the Volleyball Court of RT 03, Sumbergamol Hamlet, Balecatur, Gamping, Sleman, Yogyakarta, involving 97 participants consisting of adolescents, fertile couples, and the elderly. The series of activities included joint physical activities such as healthy walks and exercise, free health check-ups for early detection, and education on the importance of consuming fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy lifestyle. Results: Observations showed an increase in core strength, improved joint and body mobility, participants were able to perform movements with balance and good coordination, and improved respiratory and circulatory systems. Most participants were able to follow the exercise movements correctly. The majority understood the importance of exercise for maintaining endurance and were motivated to develop healthy lifestyle habits consistently and independently. Conclusion: The community service program, focusing on the Healthy Living Community Movement, yielded positive results in increasing community awareness and participation in efforts to consistently and independently maintain and improve health. This activity also increased community knowledge about the importance of regular physical activity and daily consumption of fruits and vegetables for health.Suggestion: Empowerment of health cadres and community leaders, as well as synergy between village governments, health care facilities, educational institutions, and community organizations are expected to be the primary drivers in educating and motivating the public about adopting a healthy lifestyle. It is also hoped that with a shared commitment and strengthened cross-sector collaboration, the implementation of the Healthy Living Community Movement will have a broader and more sustainable impact on improving public health.
